  1. Great, Man, I was so worried they put in more flat dirtroads. Speaking of cycling, I start work at 9 now, so I want to come do a critical mass, they still happen? first friday of the month right? where again.. Im a bit rusty CM is normally last friday of the month, we took a rain check last week due to weather and want to have it this week. Baxter @ 06:45 and CTICC @ 07:15
  2. Just had a look at the route, seems most of the singletrack has been removed, anybody know why?
  3. Here is the Wikipedia entry for it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_Mass
  4. The races have never been too technical, they're not really technical at all currently, if they made them more technical that would be nice.
  5. Amen brother. I have lockouts on my bike, I don't use it, it makes the bike ride like a hardtail, if I wanted that I'd buy a hardtail.
  6. No, in a World cup XC race, you'll see the stinky euros lining up with 560mm wide flat bars and the crazy canucks lining up with 680mm wide riser bars. It all depends on what you're comfortable with.
  7. Dirtman, thanks for all the hard work on the trails, it really is appreciated. I have to ask though, are there plans to make any technical trails up there? I've ridden the short section of single black on the other side of Contermans, as nice as it is, it really is too short. I'm not talking about pure downhill bike only tracks but something more challenging than the Hillcrest stuff though?
  8. That's the spirit!
  9. I haven't found many tyres that grip properly in loose over hard terrain, currently got a mountain king 2.4 on the front and I don't find it a whole hell of a lot better to be honest.
  10. Well, if you ride the slow loose sections faster then it should grip better because they grip really well in the fast stuff? What sort of slow loose stuff? Muddy, loose over hard?
  11. Also run these on a 29'er, run 2 bar front and 2.05 rear. Used them in alot of conditions at this and they're one of the better allround race tyres around. -- Oh yeah, I weigh between 75 and 80 somewhere
  12. He was a really good guy, RIP Willo.
  13. First of all hardtails aren't as effecient as a decent FS on a climb that isn't tar. How tall are you before you start looking at 29'ers? I know some say anyone can ride a 29'er but I'm not a believer in that.
  14. Used the Bontrager XDry as well as the Jones ACX, the XDry worked better. I think the new XDX should work pretty well as well. I do remember the Conti's taking some effort, they've been fine for a while now though. Favourite is the Spesh Fast Trak or Captain.
  15. Bontrager make a tubeless ready 29'er. I have used ans succesfully converted and used most of the tyres to tubeless except the Maxxis options, had issues with them. These include Conti's (take a bit more effort), Spesh (very little trouble), Bontrager (Pretty easy), Kenda (minor issue with the holes in the sidewalls), WTB (sidewalls a bit squishy), Maxxis (refused to take for love or money)
  16. I'm assuming one of those global locations isn't my house, hey?
  17. Yeah, my SS Scandal is also just under 10kg mark, my Titus Racer X with gears comes in at about 11.4 most of the time.
  18. I ride a bit like a mullet, all sketchy like, so I kinda need the extra grip. Especially when riding this: The Other Woman
  19. I can confirm that the 2.4 29'er Mountain Kings are pretty awesome, I've damaged the one sidewall already but then again I was being pretty silly!
  20. Raced on it a while back, nice and smooth, very flowy type stuff.
