They're made by the same company so I would say there's not much to choose between the 2, which colour do you prefer.

I use a 26-40 with an 11-36 out back, I climb okay but even then the easiest gear with that setup starts to bite a bit on long steep climbs, maybe a 24-38 or 36 is a better option for you? Although that depends on how many long open flat roads there are?

I quite enjoy this route, yes there are potholes but then again where aren't there pot holes, a bit unrealistic for traffic officials to allow us the use of the N2 and the R62.

I'd like to hear that explanation as well.

Hopefully the route is like the one in New Zealand, madly technical the whole time, 20 km lap X 2, 2 beer stops per lap, ideal format.

How long is that string again? For racing it used to be 560mm - 580mm, you could barely find a straight bar wider than 580mm, nowadays you can get anything up to 700mm+, interesting how trends change.

If that's how Näf feels, then that makes me happy. He really looks like he's been shot out of a canon he descends so quickly, very, very skillful rider that.

I'm glad they're putting stuff like this into XC courses, especially World Champs level courses, it's not balls that are required for that, it's just plain old fashioned skill with a dash of momentum. Also remember that none of the guys are riding this blind, they've got a few days to hang about and practice this section so that come race day the line is dialled.

It's short and it's easy to ride, we ride worse tar roads.

They are still going to have to win the selection events though, we just have to make sure that he gets into the selection event.

They're both chops for not sorting it out between them I'm afraid. A chat over a couple of beers and maybe an arm wrestle would have solved the problem me thinks. Now everybody loses, smaller number of entries, less vibe, less racing. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

I entered in the first 5 seconds on the day, 2 friends at work did the same thing. I got #36, another person got #545 and another went onto the waiting list. That doesn't help you though I'm afraid.

So, there are seriously 2 24 hour races on the same weekend? There only 4 in the whole country and 2 Chop organisers put their's on the same weekend in the same area? Why not just measure your winky's and be done with it?

Indeed, Stallions, our gayer rivals, had a very brief race series against them, it was one-sided! The actually rode around in cycling kit! Do you have any idea how much people don't want to be handed things by people wearing cycle kit? The used to be based in Bree street, last I checked Micha just kind of drifted off. Peddlers was sold to City Sprint who just hired very (very!) slow people.

Had very serious invovlement in Peddlers in the late '90's. It wasn't hugely economically viable but we had all the best clients and for a while we had great riders, it then became harder and harder to find quality riders with integrity and the service levels slid a bit. It was an awesome time and an awesome job, it just didn't pay very well, if you can work out a way to get the competitive spirit going in the riders, pay them decent amounts and get clients to pay you real money you'll be doing well. Bloody hard though.

I was afraid you would say that, the 21st Mixed team is in about F or G group, there would be a fair few riders in higher groups bleak about that, not shutting you down just saying that it does make it pretty awkward to determine what is meant by "top guys".

I think the problem with that comes in how do you determine who a top guys is and who is a pleb? What's the cut off? Either way you make people unhappy.

I'm so bleak to missing this year, last year in NZ was awesome! Sweet continous single track and 900 riders that just wanted to ride it fast and hard and drink beer, I was in heaven!

I have been amazed reading some of the responses here. There seem to be a few posts of people just feeling like ranting at someone for no real valid reasons.

SirK, I will gladly loan you a fixie if you actually intend to ride it up or down Contermanskloof, just give me some warning so I can organise a few cameras!
