  1. I know of 3, was gonna poach on the fixie but didn't, case of conscience I suppose.
  2. Ratty, there was no reason, there was every reason, because he can, because you wouldn't, because people take themselves too seriously, pick one. I think I know the guy with the fairy wings too.
  3. That's a mate, he did have a rough time, had to stop a bit later for plasters, you don't wanna know where. Rode 4:30
  4. @ChickenRun4Me I'd be pretty upset if you tried to pull this k*k with me! And yes I do look like a dodgy oke and yes I do ride a bike that it looks like I shouldn't.
  5. Big thanks to the riders for turning up very early in the morning to drink beer, it take true dedication from fine specimens of athletic prowess! Also a big thanks to the beer sponsors Olaf at Crosstown, Dan at iRideAfrica and William for buying a case and leaving it in his shop, not helpful buddy! To SteveCT, buy a watch! MintSauce does indeed drink like a girl, he sure can ride a bike though. Myself and Dawson easily put the race out of contention on the first climb only to be hammered twice in the beer stops, how on earth did I lose 40 seconds at my best event? Amazing effort from Dan as he totally creamed us! Also pretty cool that we had one of the biggest categories! Grant, I'm trying to recruit a posse to head up for Rietvlei as well.
  6. That's right, this is a hijack!
  7. @XTC1, you should be fine, we're all in the same boat, what's the course like? Been hearing good things about the tech but also heard it's quite short?
  8. Poster says 6:30 register, 7 O'Clock start, 2 laps, 2 beers. It's gonna be awesome!
  9. I agree with you about as much as I can, it's getting really annoying now and I do mean really annoying! I think it has to do with the influx of the stinky roadies into Mtb? A double ring 29'er is essentially just a road bike with wider tyres?
  10. Dawson's in town as well, will liase with him and William and get something going.
  11. Viability? Huh? We pitch up, we ride, we drink some beer and then we poke some fun at the person who won, what is all this BS about age categories? Really? Are SS riders already degenerating into this? Steve, I'm in and I have a few folks who are also in, we'll race and call each other names, if people want categories we can make an ass-monkey category for them. Over and out, see you on the 12th in Jonkers at African SS Champs!
  12. The 29'er filled a niche amongst those of us knuckle dragging monkeys, since then the little guys have gotten onto them and are trying to justify the reasons for it. It works for me, will it work for you? Who knows, it might but then again maybe it's just the geometry of the particular bike you're riding and possibly not the wheel size. All I'm asking for is an end to the marketing BS and for a little bit of sanity and pragmatism to return the industry. Personally I'm sick of seeing little guys and girls riding bikes they clearly can't steer just because it's the new thing and why do I only ever see the Fisher 29'ers on the road? YEt to see one off road, weird?
  13. CharlIV, it's all getting technical now, cycling is esentially a simple sport, you're not a good climber, go out and do more climbs. Wil6: You're not strong on the flats, go find some flat roads and crank it along them for at least an hour as hard as you can, do it alot, you'll get better at it. All pretty simple really.
  14. Even sillier with no pre-warning whatsoever!
  15. There are lots of scientific ways to improve various things but cycling is essentially a simple sport. If you need to climb better, climb more, if you need to be faster, ride faster more often. Pretty simple really.
  16. Ask Kiwi about the guarantee
  17. Depends on the suspension design, a decent design would allow it to be fullly active all the time, if you have to rely on the pro pedal settings then that smacks of a not so good design.
  18. You misunderstand me, that fork is one of the things I don't like about it, makes it look like a road bike (which is bad).
  19. Ridden both, own a SIR 9, just really didn't like the AIR9 but that was more based on looks, especially with the rigid fork, has too much of a roadie look for me.
  20. Is it just me or does the Niner Carbon lack totally in personality? It reminds me of the thickest of super models. Much prefer the SIR 9 for personality and class.
  21. Do it on my own quite often, never had any issues.
  22. Rolling the big drop on the other woman (broke my collar bone there last year)
  23. Never been anything else.
  24. Awesome, great bike's now with great backup in this country as well, good to hear Kiwi.
  25. White bar tape is great for pro's, their bar tape gets changed alot, if you're not a pro use black. Pretty easy solution, glad I could help.
