  1. CharlIV, it's all getting technical now, cycling is esentially a simple sport, you're not a good climber, go out and do more climbs. Wil6: You're not strong on the flats, go find some flat roads and crank it along them for at least an hour as hard as you can, do it alot, you'll get better at it. All pretty simple really.
  2. Even sillier with no pre-warning whatsoever!
  3. There are lots of scientific ways to improve various things but cycling is essentially a simple sport. If you need to climb better, climb more, if you need to be faster, ride faster more often. Pretty simple really.
  4. Ask Kiwi about the guarantee
  5. Depends on the suspension design, a decent design would allow it to be fullly active all the time, if you have to rely on the pro pedal settings then that smacks of a not so good design.
  6. You misunderstand me, that fork is one of the things I don't like about it, makes it look like a road bike (which is bad).
  7. Ridden both, own a SIR 9, just really didn't like the AIR9 but that was more based on looks, especially with the rigid fork, has too much of a roadie look for me.
  8. Is it just me or does the Niner Carbon lack totally in personality? It reminds me of the thickest of super models. Much prefer the SIR 9 for personality and class.
  9. Do it on my own quite often, never had any issues.
  10. Rolling the big drop on the other woman (broke my collar bone there last year)
  11. Never been anything else.
  12. Awesome, great bike's now with great backup in this country as well, good to hear Kiwi.
  13. White bar tape is great for pro's, their bar tape gets changed alot, if you're not a pro use black. Pretty easy solution, glad I could help.
  14. Brings back happy memories! There will be more!
  15. For those of us who have no idea what you're talking about, what does it do? I read coffee grinding, that's an expensive cup of chino if that's the case?
  16. I know it’s not the last Friday of the month but it’s damn close and besides the last Friday was on a public holiday anyway (and I wasn’t even here). So we’re doing the ride this Friday, the details stay the same, leave from the Baxter at 06:45 and meander our way to the CTICC to collect the townside lot at 07:15. For those that are interested there’s a cruise from town to the start at Baxter, we usually meet at the Good Hope Centre at about 06:15. I also hear rumours of a cycling Bierfest involving tasty german sausges and beer at a secret location over the weekend, sounds intriguing. See you all on Friday morning bright and early.
  17. Would also like to say thanks to Peat, would like to see some proper technical riding though?
  18. Not an assault at anyone but "lots of single track" is perhaps a tad generous, there was single track is perhaps more accurate, the single track was also pretty cool to ride, the long open roads in the middle had me feeling a little jaded.
  19. It was a good ride all in all, shout out to the guys from Tableview. To Jmaccelari: You had that response because there was one of you in lycra, there were 40 of us in generally normal kit, it's a weird thing, there just seems to be more space given to you on the road. Here are some cool pics at the end, alot of the bikes had wandered off by this point.
  20. All of us work, most of the guys that ride are at work by 08:30 - 09:00, Of course you can make that.
  21. To whom do you refer?
  22. Spring is almost upon us, the days get longer, skirts get shorter and life is good again! CM is happening this Friday, not quite Spring Day but pretty close, so everyone haul out your happy best and lets get stuck into some solid commuting, maybe a bit of chatting and all this followed by a cuppa at out local favourite Deluxe Coffee Works on Lower Church Street. We meet at the Baxter at 06:45 and cruise through to town on the Bike Paths (which end in Salt River but anyway), then pick up the rest of the folks in front of the CTICC at about 07:15 (closer to 07:20) then head over the new bridge, through the Waterfront and along Beach Road, up Glengarriff and along the cycle path on the left back into town. We keep losing folks in town on the way to Deluxe, so the basic route is as follows: Up Bree, left into LongMarket (down), cross Long and take the next right into Burg and the next left is Lower Church. See you all out there for Spring.
  23. It only really looks odd if the shorter guys are riding them, the bikes were designed so that us tall gangly kids can play too, now all the little guys wanna come take our toys, bastards!
  24. It's pretty easy riding, nothing technical really, just flowy single track.
  25. Had the WB 100 29'er, I hated it, it was a really horrific system that never worked, it was pretty stiff though but that's it. Ride a Fox F29 now, worlds apart!
