  1. Ek wil sien hoe like 'n 13/14" MTB!
  2. Yikes! My wife has a 16" bike and I thought that was small...
  3. Agreed, but would you argue with a marshall?
  4. I agree. I feel sory for Knox and co. but I won't get special treatment if I took a wrong turn etc. The organisers should take full blame. Knox and co should all get DNF's. Sorry, but that is the right thing to do! C'mon organisers have some honour in you and do the right thing!!!
  5. Go here: This works better than what Shimano offers: http://www.rushsports.co.za/Store/ByCategory/BB-Kits.aspx
  6. Define "good" first? I had a crossmark upfront. It lasted 2 years. Bomb proof. Was it a "good" tyre? Nope. It sucked in the wet and was moer heavy. Now I have a GEAX MEZZCAL in the front. It grips like red wine on a white shirt in the corners. Is it a "good" tyre. Nope. It has punctured 5 times in one year and not cheap. If it is good at one thing, it will be bad at something else.
  7. Some people will forever be stuck in first gear I think.
  8. Believe it or not, but thatis what she got!
  9. The Carmen Electra of this thread is becoming like the 29'er of this site.
  10. You mean which one is the better value for money? On paper it looks like the Trek. But you wont be riding on paper. From what I noted, people have warned other people to stay away from Trek as their aftersales service is...well, k@k. I have always said that you should pick a bike that you would want to upgrade ie. the one with a frame worthy of upgrading.
  11. Sal maar moet diet dan.
  12. Doh! Fank u's mr. speller Nhazie!
  13. YOU ARE ALL WRONG! The size of cone spanner depends on weather it is a front or a rear wheel...Front wheels need a 13/15 and rear a 15/17 if it is of the cone and cup stuff. If it is an american classic wheel (sealed bearing stuff) you will need 2x19. Good luck in finding one. etc.
  14. That the guy who ate Michael Jackson?
  15. You know I'm fat, I'm fat, you know it...Nah, that doesn't sound right...
  16. My Bell weighs 275g. Does it make me look fat?
  17. Why is helmet weight important?
  18. +1 Not my favourite but he's right. A good tyre to start off with.
  19. And to think those two pistons won't take the TdF.
  20. During training in winter I use water only. Don't drink anything in the first hour. In fact, I don't use any energy drinks during training - dunno why really. Water works for me. I will refuel afterwards. During a race Epic pro etc. Energade is crap. Next time you buy an energy sup, check the back for the carbs per 100g. A good energy drink wil have 70g/100g. Energade I think has less than 10g/100g.
  21. +1 I bought my wife a Merida XC500 (It has had so many upgrades, the frame and shifters are the only things that came with the bike) and a GT for me.
  22. It is not always how much you do but how you get it done. Quality beats quantity hands down.
  23. More Marketing hype. By the time he got on the 29'er. he already knew what to expect on the course. I would have love to know what would have happened if he ran the 26'er first. Then the 29'er. Rested a bit and ran the 26'er again. Case of beer says he would have been faster still.
  24. It could be a lot of things: 1. Bike setup 2. Muscle allignment 3. Too much grinding when cycling etc. I had a knee op about 3 years ago and every now and then I get a bit of PFS. Patello femeral syndrome the smart people call it ie. my wife. The sollution for me is 9/10 times a very stiff ass muscle/ITB/quad/hammy of the right leg. 10 minutes of stretching and I am fine for weeks again. Everybody always point to bike setup, and yes, it can be the cause, but you might be sitting with an anatomical issue that is just going to hurt you again in the long run. A while ago, I went with my wife to a training session with a lady called Benita de Witt (Google it) where they ran some muscle tests on my legs. Basically it determines the strength of leg muscles in relation to other leg muscles. No machines, no gizmos, no gadgets. Just a small wooden bench... The results were shocking. I thought I had leg strength...Gmpf...My hammies were shot for one. Having weak hammie muscles, caused over traing in my quads...this caused stress in my ITB...Which meant my knee was pulled out of alignment...and PFS was what I got. Get your bike setup done. But get yourself checked out too.
  25. Certain bikes "work" with a lefty. Yeti is not one of them. Nope. Not my kinda thing. I wonder how long that battery box/electric gear job will last in dust/mud/water?
