  1. +1 I bought my wife a Merida XC500 (It has had so many upgrades, the frame and shifters are the only things that came with the bike) and a GT for me.
  2. It is not always how much you do but how you get it done. Quality beats quantity hands down.
  3. More Marketing hype. By the time he got on the 29'er. he already knew what to expect on the course. I would have love to know what would have happened if he ran the 26'er first. Then the 29'er. Rested a bit and ran the 26'er again. Case of beer says he would have been faster still.
  4. It could be a lot of things: 1. Bike setup 2. Muscle allignment 3. Too much grinding when cycling etc. I had a knee op about 3 years ago and every now and then I get a bit of PFS. Patello femeral syndrome the smart people call it ie. my wife. The sollution for me is 9/10 times a very stiff ass muscle/ITB/quad/hammy of the right leg. 10 minutes of stretching and I am fine for weeks again. Everybody always point to bike setup, and yes, it can be the cause, but you might be sitting with an anatomical issue that is just going to hurt you again in the long run. A while ago, I went with my wife to a training session with a lady called Benita de Witt (Google it) where they ran some muscle tests on my legs. Basically it determines the strength of leg muscles in relation to other leg muscles. No machines, no gizmos, no gadgets. Just a small wooden bench... The results were shocking. I thought I had leg strength...Gmpf...My hammies were shot for one. Having weak hammie muscles, caused over traing in my quads...this caused stress in my ITB...Which meant my knee was pulled out of alignment...and PFS was what I got. Get your bike setup done. But get yourself checked out too.
  5. Certain bikes "work" with a lefty. Yeti is not one of them. Nope. Not my kinda thing. I wonder how long that battery box/electric gear job will last in dust/mud/water?
  6. Just stay away from assos shammy cream.
  7. I am not always so sure that saddle sores come from the saddle. I have switched to a different saddle cream et voilas - gone they were. And I rode the SLR XC Gel Flow - the one with the kevlar sides. Damn good saddle but no one had stock of that puppy so I got the SLR XP flow. Bought right here on the hub.
  8. but I have a rapid rise RD. So by gearing up, I am actually going...uhm...Ag fkt...
  9. So you had one 60km ride so far with the bike? Maybe you should put in some more miles and maybe do some races first. Bikes ridden in parking lots and bikes ridden during 110km races feel different.
  10. Wel, die results wys jy was derde en dit is al wat tel. Hehe.
  11. Some useless info: Saturdays race was 1:27 minutes for me and the stats are: Max HR 170 Avg HR 161 1712 kCal Then Monday was 1:30 on the IDT and the stats were: Max HR 171 Avg HR 155 1591 kCal
  12. Maybe I should have asked what ladies look for in asddle and what made them chose what they have?
  13. Yah but the best womans mountainbiker is not a man.
  14. That will end in a divorce for sure!!!
  15. Saw this at FPC for about R750 I think.
  16. Now if that was a Johny Bravo, I would take it.
  17. The assometer will only give you the width of the sitbone...
  18. Thanks. Will check that out.
  19. Keep it. A man can never have to many bikes. Horses for courses man. There will come a day that you wished you had: 1. Toilet paper 2. News paper 3. 5 x R10 notes 4. One more bike
  20. My wife's MTB needs a new saddle. Now every shop we go to, wants to sell something different - all claiming this will be perfect for her. So my wifes tunes the salesman today: "And how would you know this is perfect for me? You're not a woman, so how do you know?" So ladies, what saddles would you suggest to a fellow lady? And also what kind of riding/events do you do?
  21. I took me about a year to work out my max HR. I just wish people would stop looking at that and think they are going to die when they get close to that number!!! When you race - forget about that hing on your bike/arm. Your body will tell you when you are going to hard!
  22. A buddy of mine says it sounds like a fishing rod reel... Krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... The one on Ilse's bike is so silent that the spoeks make more noise in the wind than the freehub does.
  23. You know, to a certain degree this can be a usefull place. I have bought and sold some cycling stuff. Even got some good advice here and there. Got to share my experiences even... But what gets to me is the farking spelling police. A guy goes out and makes some good points and some dofkop comes along and gets an erection cause he notices a spelling mistake! And he can't wait to point it out. And then like today you post a topic and some frikken nobody comes along and sidetracks the whole damn thing with a personal insult. Why do we do this? (R100 says someone can't wait to comment on this post saying: Then if you don't like it why don't you leave? Or simmilar) Even willing to bet someone, right now, is looking for a spelling mistake and can't wait to point it out... *sigh*
  24. We'll there you go - something usefull actually might come from here then hey.
  25. My father in law might be relocating to Willowmore. I thought to myself: What the hell is in Willowmore... Now I know.
