  1. Did that happen using a floor pump? I hate handpumps. I use a bomb rather in case of emergency and only use the pump if the bombs blow up.
  2. I followed the excact same route as the Light One! Waited three months for my frame...
  3. Ek hoop nie die manne gaan die heeldag daar rondhang nie.
  4. My neighbor has one of those and he does not wake up to go and gym anymore.
  5. This fred should be asking what are your most fav medals and why?
  6. to go and train? I just can't flipping do it...
  7. Me and the wife both cycle so we get double the medals!!! There are a few one's I will keep: Like my single Argus one. My wife has a gold one which she got at Northern farms last year. My friends think it is flipping cool. Maybe one day our children will think the same.
  8. I did not inhale!
  9. Whatever breaks first. A chain is only as astrong as it's weakest link.
  10. Yikes. What happened to my post?
  11. Dis 'n waghond. SIT!!!
  12. I too use a HR monitor, BUT I don't trust them. During a race I will switch it on at the start and switch it off at the finish and then monday morning I will look at the stats - mainly the kCal burned. Durin the race I go on how I feel and not on how the HR monitor thinks I am doing! I know I am going too hard when I can't keep up the pace/go faster. My mind has a red zone for my body. Sort off like the turbo boost function of Kit in Knight Rider - just a litlle bit extra for a short time - like for a breakaway or a finish line sprint. During a race I try and keep JUST outside that red sone. And that works for me. When I train I use my HR monitor to make sure I don't cheat. 178bpm is my HRmax. And when I tell myself to go out like a mad man, that 178 is what I aim for. Not just to reach it but to get to 179 and beyond! At the start of the year my HRmax was 172. But like I said before - I don't trust HR monitors. To me it is just a target. If I can hit it, GOOD, if I can't, I rest and try again later. It is enough to be married and work for a boss. I don't need something else in my life to tell me what I can and can't do!
  13. I will be in Erlangen for the first 2 weeks in August. I think there are 2 cycling stores there that I will for surely go and visit. It looked like high end stuff like Bulls, Ghost etc that they sell...Will see when I get there.
  14. That got me thinking the other day. Guys always compare HR to see who's is higher and all. My max is about 176-178bpm. So in theory I should be able to get it down faster compared to someone who's max HR is 200. :-) Ja, ja, I know, but it is my theory and I am sticking to it.
  15. Yes they do. But they shouldn't. I support the Free State Cheetahs because I like them - not because I hate the Bulls. I believe that people shoud make informed desicions based upon facts. Problem is that with elections you will get promised a whole new world for your vote. And most of the time it is BS! If I lived in the western cape, I would have gone and voted today. Because I believe the WC is better off without the ANC. But here in GP it makes no difference.
  16. Well, maybe I will vote someday and one day my kids will decide for themselves if they will vote or not. My question is: What do you really know about the party/person you vote for? My bet is that most don't know a lot about that person, his believes, morals, standards etc. They vote for that person/party because the don't like the opposition. What I don't get is this: Pre 1994, most whites voted for the NP. That party set Nelson Mandela free. Today, the ANC rules the country because of what happened on that day in 1994. And now the whites don't like what is going on. **** man, you voted for the NP. You voted for apartheid - weither you believed in it or not does not matter! As for the next 4 years you are stuck with what you voted for! And then you "voted" for Nelson Mandela to be set free - weither you believed in it or not. Look, I am not saying apartheid was right and Nelson Mandela should never have been set free. What I am saying is BECAUSE you voted for a prick you believed in, but knew nothing about, we are where we are today in this beautiful country of ours. We don't ever make informed desicions. We act like sheep. Black and white! They vote for the ANC and you for the DP - Desicions based on race it looks like to me. And still it is us versus them. And here we are again - thinking that your vote will makes things better. When you cast your vote tomorrow, think about what you are doing. The guy you vote for, might drop a bomb on Japan. Kill Jews. Kick farmers off there farms. Crash a plane into a building. Belive rhino horn will make him more of man. Or how about molest young boys like the president of I think Norway/Finland last year... One day I will cast my vote. But it will be because I truely know the person I am voting for.
  17. Nope. Never have. Never will. But thanks for the day off!!!
  18. Ok, I will humour you. The best bike is the bike that has been set up perfectly for you. And again it will be horses for courses. At Babba's lodge here in Gauteng, you can win on a rigid!!! But at Sabie a FS will make you faster! Back to XC - in PMB during the world champs, (ja man ek bedoel the world cup event - Thanks WW) a HT was good enough and a FS a bit too much. In fact, a 26" HT was good enough for the course!
  19. Just two posts and you are already starting crap? Nee man!
  20. Sometimes I can not help but wonder how strange life can be. Many years ago a friend of mine, his wife, two kids and the maid were involved in a car accident. His wife and daughter and the maid died. His son broke his arm. He got out without a scratch. About 3 years ago when I arrived from Kby to Gauteng, I came across an accident near the Botha offramp here in Pta. I was the first guy on the scene. 4 kids in the car. No one wearing a seatbelt. 2 dead on impact, one critical and the driver got out, again without a scratch.
  21. Ja, I know, just saying that it services easy anough. Their manuals are good and easy to follow.
  22. I have a Manitou fork and although it is not as stiff as a Fox, it is easy as pie to service!
  23. Haven't been to Groenies in a while. The reason being is that I don't think it is the ideal place to do training. Just to go for fun with a group of friends to ride, it is an awsome place. Catching slower riders on the single track, which there is plenty off, breaks my rhythem and speed. And even though I always ask nicely: "Track please" I can't help but think that the guy I just passed thinks I am a chop. You always get the one circus patato that refuses to "keep left" or "yield track" eventhough it is safe for him to do so. And then when you pass he will have some snotty remark as you do so. Depending on what kind off remark was made, and how the racing is going, I will either go back and tell him to go and f...you know what I mean, or I will just keep going and ignore him. This issue will always have two sides. The best thing to do is to keep your side CLEAN! TRACK PLEASE! Thanks!!!
