  1. Bobby, thanks for honest feedback. This highlights the negative aspect of social media. Throw a comment/statement out there, and wait and see what response is received. I have never ridden in Stellenbosch, but can appreciate the amount of work put into the endeavor. Hopefully Scott see the light, and I do ride a Scott, for the good of the sport.
  2. Just saw that Bianca Haw got a 10th place at the Junior World XC champs yesterday. Awesome ride and great result. A Star of the future.
  3. Snake skins are great. Non snakeskin as soft as anything and puncture way too easily.
  4. Awesome trails today, and really tough.......so much single track, but some not for the faint hearted !
  5. Hi Wessel. Will you still do seeding for entries at registration ?
  6. I think these are great stories and should be shared on a forum or a magazine. I raced as a junior during that time and we heard snippets of these stories. The younger riders today don't understand any if that. People racing in SA under assumed names etc. I remember Sean Kelly racing Rapport Tour and then getting banned by Irish Cycling and dropped from Olympic team. So he turned pro instead.....and the rest is history. And yes, Van Heerden did Klap him in the sprints :-)
  7. Something must have happened to spreadsheet. Seeding was there a few days back.
  8. No such thing as the perfect bike. We continuously buy new ones searching for the Holy Grail !!
  9. I read that they presented the best young rider jersey on the podium to the 2nd placed rider and not to Louis, even though he won it !!! What tjops !! Great ride though.
  10. Awesome ride by Louis. He was also 1st in young riders classification. Almost taking stage win and ending 5th overall against classy field in top form for the Giro. Huge future ahead.
  11. I love Rock 'n a Roll Gold. Ran out and can't find any. Tried Smoove last 2 weeks and been impressed. Runs really smooth and quiet. Doesn't keep chain as clean as RnR, but way better than other wax lubes I've tried. Got it at Solomon's Woodmead. Finish Line also stocks.
  12. She rode with me yesterday :-)
  13. If it is it explains how he can do the Epic on 100k's of training !!
  14. I tore a calf muscle playing squash some years back. Rehab was physio a few times a week. But I was off for a good 2 months. Even after that it was a slow return to the bike. 4 weeks sounds short to me to put under huge pressure again.
  15. Maybe you can chose. Seen the one at Finish Line and has rigid fork. Also rode with a guy a few weeks back on one with a rigid fork. Like a road bike with fat tyres !!
  16. And don't get me wrong...........I like the Vipa..........but you gotta compare apples with apples. The Titan has a solid fork as well........so really depends what you buying either bike for.
  17. As far as I know, the Vipa standing there has XT spec for R49k. Massive difference in price between XX1 and XT. Also those carbon wheels are in the region of R 20k. A Vipa with similar spec was at the bike show last year for R90k. And then go weigh the 2. The Vipa is round 11kg's vs the Titan at under 8kg's.
  18. Fantastic news. Go boys !!
  19. I forgot this is the hub where you get slated for asking a question or making a post. Was an honest question based on coverage of the incident as I remember it from years back to what happened now. But anyhow, some other normal hubbers have posted reasonable answers.
  20. Cool, never realized that happened. Thought it was just about the wheel.
  21. A few years back Buryy and Sauser got a 1 hr penalty for accepting a wheel.....if I'm not mistaken from Brandon Stewart. Today I've read reports of great sportsmanship because the yellow jersey guys got given a wheel by a team out of contention when they punctured ????????????? So has the rule changed ? This was not a backup team ?
  22. Maybe we should just remember what mtb actually stands for..........multi terrain bike !!
  23. As long as you give the magic wave after changing lanes and cutting off the driver behind you.......then all is ok.
  24. All the Ephedrine in the Corenza C's :-)
  25. I agree. My first mtb was. Kona Hahana with rigid fork. Still in garage with all original equipment. Gets used by kids of friends and family who visit. 2nd bike was a Kona Cindercone. Also still have with original equipment and works perfectly. Gets used at holiday house. They have definitely outlived newer bikes and components. I think the 2nd Kona has been serviced once and the 1st never.
