  1. Drafting is always good. I even draft on the singletrack. If you can......why not ?
  2. Seems like Chilliboy had the same supplement again :-(
  3. The reason is my hard tail has 2x10. Looking at a dual but has XTR 3x10. Would prefer same ratios. Not sure which XTR it is. Last year model bike.
  4. Is it possible to convert an XTR 3x10 crank to a 2x10 ? Or not worth the cost of new chainrings etc. and better to buy 2x10 ?
  5. Some of the meds used in inhalers are not banned, the one he needed did have a restricted substance, hence the TUE.
  6. Like all sports. There are always cheats. Not just drug related. Cycling is just higher profile because they do something about it and name and shame their cheats. Other sports hardly test and then hide results. I don't condone drugs, just hate the finger pointing at cycling while other sports do nothing.
  7. Neil, buy a Garmin Edge 510, only R5000 and I'll swap for a 910 XT. Easier to explain than R6000 odd. Seriously, my father-in-law bought one and realized not what he wanted for hiking, so I bought a watch for hiking for him. 910 brand new but I'd rather have a bike computer.
  8. A bit of a hijack, but I have a brand new farming 910xt for sale or to swap. Pm me if interested. I'm looking for a riding computer rather.
  9. Froome loses 4 min to Alberto !!
  10. What racing!! Alberto was awesome all alone.
  11. 3:30 on Supersport 5
  12. IMHO. SRAM rocks, but I would change the brakes. I rode XT in the past but had Elixir brakes. Had to keep setting the brakes, especially pads. New bike has XX but XTR brakes. At first I wasn't happy as I wanted all SRAM. But I must admit, the XTR brakes rock. Haven't touched them in 18 months myself. Never had to fiddle. So for me, SRAM but XT or XTR brakes. Value for money..... XT.
  13. Go Berto !! Great to see him getting back to his best. Gonna be an exciting Le a Tour.
  14. Does anyone know when and where funeral is. Or has it been ? I was out of country and arrived back today.
  15. At one stage there were no other bike shops. Anything worth buying was at D&H. Loved my Zini :-)
  16. I saw comments on Facebook that Basil Cohen has passed away. A sad day for cycling. He was a legend. Bought many a bicycle form Deale and Huth and his commentary at Hector Norris Park on Sundays was legend. He knew every cyclist by name. He was cycling in South Africa and had so much to still offer the world of cycling. May he rest in Peace and never be forgotten for his contribution and influence on many cyclists.
  17. I'm a Contador fan, so good to see he has some good form to match Froome. I doubt Wiggo will ride Le Tour. I read in a report today that he is putting on weight for his track riding at the Commonwealth Games. So that says he is not planning to ride tour, despite what Sky are saying that team not selected yet.
  18. Wiggins was dropped by Froome! and now by SKY !
  19. My bike stayed at home, but I did a 70k ride theough the Turkish countryside outside Istanbul this morning. Had to use a borrowed Commondale :-)
  20. Be careful of massages, especially if you are not used to them. A deep massage can hurt you more than the ride. So if not used to, just have a light massage. Drink chocolate milk.
  21. With a good enough quality winter jacket all you need under is a base layer like a compression top. Good gloves are a must. Thick ones for really cold mornings, thinner for before it gets too cold. And booties to cover your toes. I don't like buffs on my head as I feel I overheat, sometimes need a cover just for the ears, but tends to come off soon into the ride. I don't wear leg Warner's except if really cold.
  22. Bg hard to support Impey working for a Tjop like Wiggens. Maybe Wiggens can work for and support Impey :-)
