    XTR chainrings

It looks like 104mm. They are M980 cranks
  2. I have found out that Shimano don't make a 39t chainring for 2x10. Does anyone know of a compatible chainring that may do a 39t to fit XTR ? Reason is my hard tail has SRAM with a 39t, but the dual cane with XTR and a 38t. Trying to keep the same, without changing SRAM to 38t.
  3. I had an Alan an new many that rode one, but I have never seen the one in the picture above. Eas definately the earlier pits with ALAN stamped into the lugs.
  4. Gonna be there. Can't wait. Love that area.
  5. Unless you were lapped you had every right to fight for your position :-)
  6. It's not about the bike (wheel size). When Nino whips your arse on 650B is that wheel size or talent ?? Buy what you like and have fun.
  7. As long as you hold your line, up to back rider to pass safely. If he takes a chance where there are obstacles, his problem. Maybe he was pissed coz you were putting him in the gutter !! :-)
  8. Saw a whole bunch of books at CNA Eastgate.
  9. Ride out with the wind and have someone pick you up where you finish
  10. You should always err on smaller frame rather than larger frame. Rather get what fits you than compromise and always be unhappy and not have the correct fit. There are plenty 2nd hand bikes out there. Just check theHub ads.
  11. Awesome ride by Ashleigh.
  12. Is there anything like a reputable pool company. Every one I have come across are a bunch of sharks.
  13. Good thing I found some retro Campagnolo tools to assist :-)
  14. I'll take some pics and post for some advise. The Claud a Butler is very scratched along the top tube. 30 years in a garage in amongst other bikes and wheels :-(
  15. Hi guys. I need some advise please. I have 2 old track bikes. A Claud Butler and a Geoffrey Butler from the 70’s. Just stripped the one to have it sprayed. I need to know, what is the best way to clean up the equipment and get it looking clean and newish again ? All Campagnolo group sets. Tks
  16. Amazing....same excuse. Contaminated food. If Contador got 2 years then so should the Queen and the horse.
  17. Ok, but does anyone know whether Hendrik Anderson has a full racing license as a Vet ? If he does, and he was racing in a UCI sanctioned event, then it is valid that he was tested, regardless of where he finished, which we also don't know ( I looked at the results and can't find a Hendrik Anderson. There was another Anderson riding for Anderson transport )
  18. Ok, I'm gonna throw the cat amongst the pigeons. If a certain Supersport presenter, who races Masters, which has little prize money and is quite irrelevant, and who finished way down the field in Sani, was randomly tested at Sani and showed up positive.............. Would it be okay, and would that test be a waste of time and money and would everyone here still be anti random testing of back markers ??? And now I may run for the hills and go watch the Tour :-)
  19. Because it's very difficult to draw the line between who is the funrider and who is serious. As mentioned in my other post, that funrider today is racing worlds in his/her age group a week later. So usually when they test it will be top platings plus some randoms. I do admit, it would be nice to have some stats on what tests have been done, and the profiles of the riders tested.
  20. But then again, that Vet riding a race for training and finishing mid pack, could just be riding in the worlds the following week and winning a medal thanks to his meds he used during his training. Doesn't have to use in the race itself.
  21. Rouxtjie, that's exactly it. If you are an average joe who rides for fun and happens to get caught in a random test, it really has little effect other than you can never ride the Epic. You can probably ride races every weekend and nobody will know or care as it is the local "fun ride "
  22. This thread getting a bit carried away with the fact of back markers being tested etc. just remember that this test happened in the Cape Pioneer trek! which is an international race with a UCI ranking and held under their rules. A lot higher profile than most other weekend races where testing probably never happens. There are the top mtb'ers in the world riding, and hence why random tests are also done as well as the top finishers. Similar to Epic, you enter, you could be tested, back marker or not.
  23. Maybe they should increase the cost of licensing for all riders so that there is more money available for more frequent dope testing across a bigger pool of riders.
  24. I am amazed how many slate doping when a pro gets caught and how he is cheating etc. but when an unknown name then it's all good. Guy even gets defended. This guy has a license number so is a licensed cyclist and subject yo normal rules. Cheating us cheating, back marker or not. Random tests serve a purpose as it keeps everyone on their toes. If everyone knew only the top pro's would be tested, many others would dope. And let's race it, there is some good prize money etc at stake outside of the pro ranks. I have been beaten by riders who dope, and it's unfair. So anyone caught then I think it's good. If I get caught because I'm just in the bunch and didn't check on the meds I took, then I must take the punishment. Where do you then draw the line on who is tested and who not ? You take part in a sport you have the risk of being tested. That's how it should be. I also disagree that pro's not tested. I have ridden with pro's training and they get a call that testers are at the house and they need to get home for a test. This is 8 on a Sunday morning.
  25. This LCHF diet works. I ate 500g of fatty biltong for lunch and never felt hungry for hours after :-)
