  3. Totally unwarranted brandishing them a rip off! I live 10 km away, so any trip to Modders, N Farms, Red Barn etc adds petrol cost + time which makes the entrance fee comparable.
  4. Why not the Grid casing? According to the website its only 30g heavier than the Control, weighing in at 650g.
  5. I really struggled to find a saddle, and the discomfort within the first few km's told me the test saddle wasn't a fit. The saddle I ended up buying was tested over a couple of longish rides. When I realised after 30 km's that was wasn't thinking about the pain in my butt I knew I had a winner
  6. Don't bother with other people's recommendations. Each person is different. Have your sit bones measured and then experiment with different saddles. There are shops with test saddles where you can try before you buy.
  7. Reviving this 5 year old thread. Need my SID serviced somewhere in JHB northern suburbs. Any recommendations?
  8. Those cheap stands look rather flimsy? Was hoping to build my own solid stand for around same price or even less.
  9. R1000+ Like those nice parktool clamps( R1500)
  10. Hi I plan on building my own repair stand, but need to find a solution for the clamp. I notice one can buy clamps from cycle shops, mainly online overseas shops, but these are too expensive. Any suggestions to solve this problem? What can i use? Thanks!
  11. Got my new wheel set last week, built on these new Pro4's. The sound is a lot softer than the pro evo 2's which I had on a previous wheel set. I'm really happy with that but I am sure some people won't be :-)
  12. I have a set of Roval 29 wheels from my Spez Camber Comp 2016 that I want to sell. Was wondering how they differ from Roval Control? Was hoping to sell the stock wheels to help fund an upgrade, but have no idea what to ask for them. I see the Roval Controls sell for more than R8k new, but I'm not sure how the Roval 29 compare. Spec sheet describe them as Roval 29, alloy, 29mm inner width, 24/28h
  13. Got my 8 yo a 24 inch Fuji. Should be fine for next 5 years and then hand down to current 3 yo sister.
  14. Halo is expensive but really works like nothing else
  15. Bought Melrose Arch's last one. Centurion Cyclery still had one on Friday...
  16. I considered most dual suspensions in the R35k range (including the Anthem) but I'm glad I chose the Camber Comp. I was going to buy a XC bike (like the Epic and Merida in your shortlist) but the Camber is a nice all round trail bike which still climbs well ie loads more fun...
  17. I'm 1.84 and went for a Large Camber Comp 29. Was a bit worried that I should ride an XL but the L is perfect. Perhaps they are trying to sell you an XL because there is no stock of L's....which is the current situation.
  18. Stolen: Trek X Caliber 9 2015 When: 30 April 2016 Where: Limpopo This bike has a Stans Flow on rear and Bontrager Mustang Elite on front. Also has a Selle SMP Extreme saddle which is not really seen in this country Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section
  19. http://www.cycloworx.co.za in Petervale They have SMP test saddles. Selle Hell and Hybrid both very nice
  20. Update: so i got a pair of XT shifters. Best upgrade ever!
  21. You can also test various saddles at some shops. Phone around and ask who has test saddles. Sit bone width important though. Mine is 155! I really struggled to find something (I am also a heavy weight). After testing various saddles I bought a Selle SMP Extreme which is fantastic FOR ME...Priced cheap - 55euro from Deporvillage.com (shipped to UK) http://www.deporvillage.com/sillin-selle-smp-extreme-medium-negro ps local importers of SMP don't bring in this model...hence bought overseas
  22. I do the same type of riding as you and have your option 2- no issues. In fact, had a 2.4 X on the rear but replaced it with a 2.2 raceking. Has less rolling resistance with enough grip for my riding.
  23. "Zee, a new line of gravity components that are an ideal starting point for aggressive riders and racers." I ride a XC bike, Would Zee be an option?
  24. Hi guys My right shifter is giving me problems after a small crash, thinking of replacing it. Now my question is whether to upgrade it whilst I'm at it (obviously!). It's a Deore 10 Spd shifter, alongside M395 brakes. I was wondering firstly, whether an upgrade of only the shifter to XT would be noticeable (ie quicker, crisper). Secondly, I notice the Deore shifters fit quite snugly on my brake levers - will XT,SLX, Deore all fit the same? Thanks
