  1. Sho Capricorn, you are aware this topic is XC? Foot further forward on pedal = more power, according to Jeroen Swart. (don't think you DH riders know who that is though) Don't you mean, "foot further back on the pedal?"
  2. The problem is that how many accidents or altercations do you hear of over here in the UK? Nearly every week/2nd week on the hub there has been a cyclist knocked down or agressive motorists having a go at cyclists OR better yet a cyclist gets killed/knocked off there bike/s in a organised race?! The ratio of cyclists in/around London out numbers the cyclists in Cape Town on a daily basis yet there are more altercations back home!
  3. I wouldnt care if they fell! Some of them deserve a beating! They probably never got when they were younger.
  4. Typical Souf African attitude! Here in the UK there are way more commuters cycling to work everyday, come rain or shine. They obey the rules! I can tell you that in/around London the traffic is hectic and these guys move in the bicycle lanes with busses and cars all around them, BUT the main point is that they dont jump red robots or pedestrian crossings nor do they ride 2/3/4 abreast! Its the certain "I`m a hardcore roadie" attitude from some of the tjops back home! If I came across 2/3/4 riders abreast I used to give them a hoot about 50m away and hope they would fall into single file. Then I would await the stare or finger from one of the cylists. If I received this, I would then slow down so they catch up to me and either swerve towards them or tell them what I think of them! Bunch of LOSERS!
  5. Sho, I feel so honored that you guys remember me! "the guy that had all his parts listed in his signature"! Cptmayhems signature at the mo is priceless. If you guys read about the new 'one way' route, I suggested that!!! If you go back to that argument I used my amateur skills in photoshop/paint to show/suggest an alternative route! It's always the same ol same ol guys who comment in this forum, boring!
  6. I look foward to riding on these trails at the end of the year. As a plus I should be able to see a drastic change in the upkeep of all the trails/single tracks. All that I used to see were the `entry points` to some of the single tracks, which were also used as `downhill` bits with burms. So I used to laugh when I heard maintenance was getting done as 90% of the maintenance would be on the entrance to a trail (clay, etc for the burm) where the `downhill maintenance crew of Tokai` are mostly interested. I know this as most of the builds/maintenace days were scheduled on weekends when there were MTB races near or far.
  7. Great weather here in grabouw at Oak Valley! At least it's not 40deg+ like last year!! All setup and ready for a nap before the race starts at 12.
  8. Join the group, married on 30th December 2011, Honeymoon from 31st to 6th Jan. Leaving for the UK for several years on the 25th Jan (Next Wednesday), so I`m just doing it for the vibe and to spend time with those who I will miss!
  9. Sounds a bit dof to me as the total number of laps for each rider/team will drop drastically, especially for the novice fun teams. I will be doing it solo though, managed 16 laps last year, this year prob only 7-8 laps.
  10. I can't wait for this event! Gonna be my last race/ride in SA as my wife and I are moving to the UK for several years.
  11. Don't see what this has to do with GIANT as the only thing that says GIANT is the frame! All the components are from different manufacturers! Oh, sorry the handle bars also said GIANT, but who rides with the standard '***' bars anyway! How much do you weigh? Matter of interest.
  12. As far as I know Bridge DONT do the Ergofit/Ergomax setups! Thats just the weight off the knee and the Goniometer. Jeroens setup does not check the weight over the knee, he checks saddle set back!
  13. This question has come up time and time again. Person to speak to is Dr. Jeroen Swart at The Sports Science Institute in Newlands. Normally charges R750, well worth the money!! He has setup the Team Bonitas team as well as John-Lee Augustyn. http://www.teamsky.com/profile/0,27291,17543_6638057,00.html He has also setup Philip Buys. http://www.philbuys.com/ Check under `ABOUT` and then scroll down to `coach`......Dr Jeroen Swart Post over. PS: Dont worry about this new shop in Tokai for a bike setup, who are they?, how much do they know?,etc.
  14. Good pre-workout snack!
  15. I think it comes down to the Team who choose the bikes to push the 29er brand! Take the Epic for example; Burry and Christoph were told to ride those bikes to make everybody aware of the 29er for purely a sales reason and they won! Imagine how the 29er sales picked up after the Epic!! I think Burry & Christoph are awesome riders!
  16. What did you use to strip the paint off without damaging the alu underneath? Also, how long did it take to polish that frame?? Looks awesome!
  17. Would like to but have been off the bike for about 2-3 weeks with bursitis in behind my right knee. Maybe next time.
  18. Now this is a bike which needs to be made into a single speed! http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv90/david16v/IMG_0130a.jpg
  19. Unfortunately this is not my bike! (I would never be seen riding a bike with a tripple clamp especially after the whole DH vs XC thing a while back) Posted for a friend who is not on the hub. Have seen another guy (long black hair with kit) riding on the same bike in Tokai.
  20. Bike stollen out of garage in kirstenhof early hours 20 august please keep your eyes open
  21. Hollow bones I tell you!
  22. UST version is very heavy!! Imagine mud stuck to the tyre at the same time, you would need legs the size of Cancellara`s!
  23. Now this is fun to watch!! Over the past several weeks we have seen myself and plenty more XC riders having a go at DH riders, BUT this takes the cake, DH vs DH riders........CLASSIC!!!! Didn`t you guys know that anything said by GRB285 is the way it is?? Its his way or the highway!
  24. Im sure there is a massive price difference here. Heard the geometry on the Silverbacks are not so hot, I would go GIANT all the way. Only heard positive reviews from the 29er.
  25. Mr. Barnard is full of surprises/stupid comments!
