  1. Crashed at Majik Forest to avoid hitting a few walkers at a downhill intersection who weren't paying attention and walked in front of me. I wasn't annoyed as I don't think they were expecting a bike coming down there due to lack of signage and the landing was soft... Mixed usage trails are always a risk and I try to ride as slow and considerately as possible always expecting someone to step in front of me
  2. Crashes on Sunday, minor damage to bike but shoe sustained some abrasion. Mainly cosmetic. Investigated repair options in Cape Town and eventually took it to Durasole in Wynberg. Picked it up today and am quite happy with the work.
  3. Seems like its not UCI compliant.... https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/bianchi-oltre-rcs-air-deflectors-are-illegal-uci-confirms/
  4. Currently using 30mm Continental GP5000 STR with JOES SUPER SEALANT. Brilliant tyre, very fast and grippy (feels more grippy than GP5000 clinchers). Had a puncture that sealed once and another where I used a plug once without losing too much pressure (Dynaplug)
  5. It might have looked a bit sedate on TV but....
  6. Apart from the the PID all other upgrades were done when new so can't comment. The PID upgrade made a difference as I found accurate temperature control to be really important. Would also recommend a good grinder as grind settings make a noticeable difference. The machine itself has been great, can't fault it
  7. Bought a 2017 Specialized Epic Hardtail to replace my Pyga 110 a few weeks ago, wanted something totally different. Freshened it up a bit with new chainrings, cassette, chain, rear disc rotor and stem. Serviced the Rockshox SID fork. New grips and dropper arriving soon. Couldn't source a suitable length 27.2 dropper locally so had to buy online - Crank Brothers Highline XC 100mm. The original rear wheel had a broken spoke so took the opportunity to get a new set of wheels - Mavic XA Elite Carbon with Maxxis Ikon and Rekon Race tyres. This little refresh ended up costing a bit more than planned...
  8. thanks did the shower screen and spring upgrade new so can't comment on those changes The PID made a big difference with regards to consistency as temperature is a bit of a guess without it. Crucial when playing around with optimal temperature settings. Zaakir from Latte Art (https://latteart.co.za) did the conversion, would be a good idea to speak to him as he is very helpful and knowledgeable
  9. Got a Gaggia Classic Pro and a Eureka Mignon Manuale. Added a 9 bar spring, IMS shower screen and PID. Very happy with the setup
  10. switched from a 520 to the 130, easier to read screen and all the functionality I need. Has basic navigation as well
  11. Used to have that issue with the standard Shimano pads, fitted SwissStop pads and now completely silent
  12. I use Smoove, was a bit nervous but the drivetrain performed flawlessly yesterday
  13. Hi Installed a new set of tubeless Continental GP 5000 S Tr tires last night. Installation was a breeze, went on by hand, no tyre levers or soapy water needed. Inflated with a track pump to 5 bar front and rear. However there was no popping\cracking sounds as the tyres were inflated. Did not add sealant. The rear tyre has held pressure overnight but the front was flat this morning. How do I know if the tyres are seated properly ?

  15. New (for me) wheels. Industry Nine i9.45
  16. It looks like a lot of these were virtual rides on Fulgaz

  18. I am using a new CSixx chainring with a SLX 12 speed chain and cassette, works quite well.
  19. Finally got around to converting my bike from SRAM GX Eagle to Shimano SLX 12 speed. The main stumbling block was the freehub on my Roval wheels, this was resolved once DT Swiss released the micro spline freehub for the pawl system. The chainring was also a concern as I wanted to keep the GX cranks, ended up going for the CSixx chainring. Very happy with the setup.
  20. I "upgraded" from GX 11 speed to Eagle GX. It's been a disaster. Had 3 reputable bike shops in Cape Town fail to sort out the jumping gears. Eventually had the cassette and derailleur replaced under warranty. Worked as expected for the first 200km, then jumping gears again. Way too temperamental compared to the GX 11 speed and XT 2x10. Replacing it with SLX 12 speed
  21. My Pyga 110. Size Large. Specs : SRAM Eagle GX groupset, Fox 34 Factory fork - 130mm, Guide brakes and Roval Traverse wheels. Maxxis Ardent Race 2.3 at the front and Ikon 2.3 rear. Reverb Stealth dropper post. XT trail pedals. Specialized Henge saddle.
  22. Hi I purchased a pair of Look Keo 2 Max pedals in March 2018. Recently I would sometimes hear a squeaking sound from the right pedal when riding. I thought it was the cleats that were making the sound and was planning on replacing them. Yesterday, after my ride (1 Jan 2019) I decided to lube the chain of my bike. While pedalling the crank backwards by hand , the pedal fell off its axle ! I have contacted the dealer and handed the pedals over. They have informed me that they will have to wait for the local distributor to reopen after their holiday to make a decision on the pedal. The dealer has offered to apply "Loctite" to the pedal to ensure that it does work itself loose again. I refused to accept their fix due the inherent danger of that pedal coming off again while riding. I have never loosened or tinkered with the pedals that were installed by the bike shop. No crash damage either. Any thoughts advice on this issue ?
  23. Hi, the "swat box" is bolted to the spez bottle cage and has another bolt into the frame. You could probably drill 2 holes into the frame if not using the spez bottle cage but not sure how stable that would be
