  1. Maybe go to The Gear Change and speak to the mechanic there (Justin). He is from JHB and we used to ride together often up here. He can give you an unbiased opinion on the ratios and maybe see what he's got lying around to help with a test ride...
  2. That would be because you'd be spinning your legs broken on the flats & slight downhills
  3. I'm not clued up on the 29'' setup...but on a 26''- If you're a strong rider - go for 34T If you're going to be a strong rider - go for a 32T Or come through to Delta Park or Emmarentia one day and you can take my bike for a spin and see what you think of the 34T 11-36 combo...
  4. I ride a 1x10 (34T & 11-36) on my 26" HT And I do rides like Rietvlei, Thaba & Breedts with it. IMESHHO (In my ever-so hub humble opinion) you should be fine with 1x10 - just play around with the front chain ring- you'll quickly find the right ratio.
  5. Of course the HT was the right choice
  6. Jeannie D = Mutton dressed as lamb!
  7. I would not recommend Sidi Dragons as the outsole tread pieces are so soft - they wear away quickly and cost R550+ to replace. My Mavic carbon soled shoes have lasted 3years + and are only now starting to wear out. The Sidi's lasted 4 rides and there was visible wear on the soles. I sent pictures to ASG and they replied saying its not a warranty issue. Surely MTB soles should last longer than say 10 rides?
  8. Sorry - I really don't know what I was thinking!! Maybe I should go have another cup of coffee before I make any more stoopid comments
  9. Or maybe a Thule authorized agent that sells the Thule range...
  10. I think there has already been a post about this last week...
  11. Large - You're being polite
  12. Now you're just being downright rude!!! I bought myself a folding commuter bike the other day bringing my tally to 5 - I did have to see what mood the wife was in when she got home before I said "Hello my beautiful darling wife, here is you tea... btw - I bought another bike today"

  21. Hi Anne We rode your trails yesterday and think its a great initiative. It is fantastic that the proceeds go to the animal rescue centre!! The sand sections are good for those who've never ridden in sand before- a skill that comes in quite handy in races... It will be good when you add some more trails along the river. I think it is a good trail for families to ride, where the less skilled riders can ride on the one side and then try the harder side. Maybe a rock garden or 2 on the 'technical' side will be a good option... With a couple of drop offs thrown in
  22. Tight clothing is a privilege - Not a right
