  1. It'a the same thing - Ryder supplies Sportamans under their own brand.
  2. Single ply is fine (Exo in Maxxis). Jonkershoek rocks are not sharp - I personally have not had a single sidewall cut or buggered up tyre/rims in Jonkershoek on any of the trails and I am heavy. All of the guys I ride with also use single ply without any issues. You should be able to get from Stoke - they usually carry a nice variety of gravity oriented tread patterns.
  3. It's not like you use your brakes much anyway! Maybe it's why you have a non-working finger, but that's besides the point...
  4. So far mine is holding up very nicely. I actually prefer it to the Spaz options because of width. I've had Power saddles in 143mm (too narrow), and in 155mm (too wide) - so the Ryder option at 148mm is just right.
  5. started makin' trouble in my neigbourhood....
  6. Personally I wouldn't go for anything more than 130mm front and rear for anything in Gauteng. I would however just opt for something with slightly slacker geometry and a very progressive rear end. That way you end up with a bike that can handle the bigger stuff which when it has to, but remains playful on most of the trails found in Gauteng.
  7. I also doubt it cuts time, but it's a flipen nice way to get up there!
  8. *Were And I did that just because you were ugly to me hahaha But now that you mention it, there is a guy I work with that is in a wheelchair - brilliant sense of humour - and he customises his wheelchair like I customise my bakkie hahaha
  9. Saw one on the trails for the first time the other day, seriously hot!!
  10. Took me a second to catch that, but it's brilliant!
  11. I couldn't watch more than 10mins. Acting is HORRIBLE
  12. It'll be open as usual... you'll just have to get a day pass at the gate or on the MTO app.
  13. Hahaha I know....
  14. Any sort sort of physical activity at anything above 10° makes me cry - I overheat. I don't know about neg 10 but I wish the weather here was colder! But then again I am the guy that walks around in shorts and slops in London over Christmas and shows up to Jonkershoek mid winter in summer clothes (in fact I don't even own a pair of arm warmers).
  15. For sure, and I'm definitely not dismissing skills coaching at all. I had a fall a few years back (OTB on a jump where I hesitated) where I hurt my neck quite badly - took me a good 3 years to completely get my confidence back. It wasn't at the forefront of my mind for every ride, but the was always that niggling thought lingering in the back of my mind.
  16. And to the work done on other trails! I rode pretty much everything in Jonkers over the course of the weekend, and it feels like there is not a trail that has not been worked on in the last while. Superb stuff....
  17. Everyone falls, even the skills coach I'll even go as far as saying that if you are not falling every now and then you are not pushing your limits, and not progressing as fast as you can. I don't know any really good riders that haven't had some ugly falls.
  18. A Jackie will fight a Pitbull and expect to win! I don't think a JackRussel thinks they are incapable of anything! To be fair, they are pretty incredible dogs - a childhood friend of mine had a Jackie that managed to kill more than one black mamba up in Richards Bay. It's name was Lucky - quite fitting.
  19. It was wet, but definitely doable. We rode Phoenix and Plumber today - Plumber was slippery at the top, but the rocks in Jonkers aren't smooth, so they stay grippy in the rain. Ended up pretty full of crap and muddy thiugh....
  20. Dude, Droo is THE suspension guy... I'd listen to him before I listen to any one else. Sounds like your mechanic is a bit clueless.
  21. Ah okay, that is good news I guess! Kinda sucks that year pass holders cannot still enter.
  22. So The MTO Group just posted on instagram that Jonkershoek trails are closed until further notice. Anyone know what the story is? My guess is protest action although I don't see anything in the news about that. My plans for the long weekend just got alot less exciting.
  23. What sort of bikes are we talking about here? Carbon or Alu? And what discipline? (XC, Trail, Enduro). Without that distinction the range can be anywhere from 10kg to 17kg...
  24. The exact opposite of my dogs. Since day 1, if they see a person they will rip my arm out if it's socket to go and greet them. I wish they were like Enzo!
  25. I can believe this will be immensely capable, but it is hond lelik! Land Rover's design department is smoking something serious lately.
