  1. So this person hacked your account and posted it?
  2. I'm afraid you don't get to moderate what people say on a public forum. Theo has carved out a unique Niche for himself and should be applauded IMO. There's MAYBE 5 people on the planet that can ride darkfest, hardline and compete at a world cup level. Brendan Fairclough has retired and Kade Edwards has stepped away from racing. So by my reckoning that leaves Theo and Kaos Seagrave. He's also the only SA gravity guy apart from Greg who makes an actual living from riding his bike. That guy is a hero and your attacks on him make you look mean spirited and a little pathetic *Discalimer. I'm a MASSIVE Theo fan ever since I saw him sending the Tokai road gap on a fubar Turner Burner in jeans and a shitty green moto lid aged 12.
  3. Is this the same Theo that has ridden Dark Fest and Hardline?
  4. * Disclaimer This is how it was a few years ago might have changed a bit since. You have to have a certain number of UCI points to be able to just enter. Those are collected by racing domestic series races and the IXS cups which are in Europe. The IXS races are properly packed. There are hundreds of fast guys trying to make a go of it via the IXS races. There's also an IXS rookies cup but I'm unsure if those count towards anything As an example around 180 elites entered for the Les Gets world cup 60 riders make it through from timed qualifying into the "semi finals" and 30 make it from there into the big show. There's also a rather large safety barrier to entry. If you think being able to send the main line at Conties qualifies you to safely ride a world cup track you are GRAVELY mistaken. World cup tracks are long and steep and the jumps are MUCH bigger and scarier than they look on TV.
  5. Mylo interviewing Theo and Rory in Morzine yesterday. AWESOME Job by Myles shining a light on this. Watch the video. PLEASE! The level of commitment from these guys is mind bending.
  6. As if to illustrate the point. That blue M9 used to belong to a very good mate of mine and then belonged to me. The blue was the color of the CRC team when they ran Intense bikes. It's one of 50 ever made and one of 2 brought into SA. It's probably the most rare and unique DH bike that one could own in SA.
  7. This isn't what you are going to want to hear. That bike is pretty much worthless. Those Raleigh's weren't particularly special or good or rare back in the day. My advice is have 15k spare on your credit card or build up a little savings so that if it does get stolen you can easily replace it. If you're patient you can easily get a nice 2nd hand DH bike for 15k that's light years ahead of the Raleigh ITO performance. I'm in a similar situation. I have a Turner DHR that's super rare and that I'm very emotionally attached to but in the cold light of day in Rand value it's worth nothing.
  8. They do. It's called a Ford Transit. Usually 2 guys per transit. No fancy awnings. They mostly park/squat in them in a gravel parking lot just outside Morzine between races. They also wash in the river and use the public toilets at the lift stations for the necessary daily actions. It's not nearly as glamourous as it sounds tho. Especially when it's been raining for a few days. There's 500 fast poms and ausies doing the same thing or working in chalets to finance their dreams of being the next GM. And that's just in that town. From there they bounce around doing as many of the world cups and IXS races as they can before their 90 day visa or their money runs out and they have to come home. I can't really comment on selection criteria but it's INCREDIBLY difficult for these guys to go to Europe every year and live in a van with a pathetic currency and try to race against guys that live there.
  9. Urgent Sale!! But it's not a good price and it's not negotiable.... soooooo eeerm
  10. I had loads of issues too and then one day it suddenly worked. Having said that my wife couldn't complete a ride this week tho that was a wireless issue. The connectivity where the trainer is isn't great. But IMO it's definitely not as "professional" as Zwift. If I was training religiously or lived in the UK I'd pay for Zwift. I enjoyed Rouvy until i didn't. The sufferfest was too much. But right now I'd happily trade my trainer for a treadmill. Lockdown cured me of indoor training.
  11. Most of these have an evaluation period so you can have several months of free riding before committing
  12. Rabbit hole alert! Like others have said you seem to prefer getting a new unit. The Core will be more than adequate. You'll also want to get a fan. No need to go too big here. just a big ol manual fan and you are going to sweat A LOT so maybe a yoga mat as a cheap sweat collector A nicely set up dedicated training area where the bike is set up and ready to go is always nice. Then comes the important bit. The software. Most of them have a 7-14 day trial period. I'd take full advantage of those before picking the one. IMHO Zwift is still the best and if I was training indoors all the time I'd suck it up and pay the subscription. My wife and I current use mywoosh. It's a zwift knock off but it's free. for now. We used to have a TV in the garage and link a laptop to that to run the app on the laptop and youtube or whatever on the tele. The TV is now in my office as a third computer monitor so we use the laptop and a tablet. This guy has LOADS of indoor cycling content
  13. Tin foil over your socks
  14. I started to ridicule you but then I remembered something. I had a pair of Giro gloves that I used in Mallorca in winter that are basically wetsuit gloves and they were amazing so there's absolutely no reason why this wouldn't work. The Giro gloves went on to serve me well as surfing gloves for a year or 2 too so dual use there.
  15. Yes. They do that specifically to make it look like the reviews are authentic. But they'll balance that out with loads of OMG this pair of pants is a game changer type reviews. The overwhelming majority of the reviews you see will be positive.
  16. It's not my core focus but I have done e-commerce implementations for more than one company. They ABSOLUTELY DO cherry pick/ filter/ moderate/ review / (whatever term one wants to use) the customer feedback that you see on the website. The nature of humans is that they only open their mouths when they have a complaint. So most reviews would be negative. Loads of negative reviews equals no sales. FWIW the best cycling garment I've ever owned is a ciovita wind breaker thing. Cheap as chips. lasted forever and did it's job. It's recently been retired and replaced by an asics equivalent
  17. Reality check time. ALL webstores moderate their reviews and feedback. It would be financial suicide not to. The only one in SA where you're likely to get anything approaching honest reviews is Takealot. Because the stuff they're selling is on consignment so they don't really care which brand of 400 lumen light you buy. Just so long as you buy it from them.
  18. Watching that video made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Guess I'm a bad person.
  19. Anyways back on topic. Carrying whilst riding. On my roadie. No. Can't conceal and most of the time I'm concentrating on not having a heart attack so I doubt I'd react in time. Pepper spray for the fake feel good but let's be honest the oke is getting the bike. On the MTB the areas I ride tend to be pretty safe. I could possibly run some sort of chest rig but I see mostly downsides. Also I think most places like Jonkers are gun free zones anyway. So that's also a no. On Zwift I've often wanted to kill the little cartoon me. Does that count?
  20. For the first time ever a lefty makes sense. 😁
  21. I've recently started the process. Done the tests. Done the shoot. Competency is in progress. Regarding carrying whilst riding I think that would be a big no for me. Concealment is an issue and if you can conceal in a backpack or maybe a chest rig then getting to the weapon in a timeous fashion when the need arises is probably impossible. When my wife and I run it's with a Malinois tethered to my waist. Handling him and a firearm would also be an impossibility. To all the folk that are "anti gun" I have some bad news for you. If you pay ADT or some such company for alarm monitoring and armed response then you are not anti gun. You are merely outsourcing the responsibility of having a gun to an armed response company.
  22. I've flown Turkish IIRC I paid $90 each way. Below is the current link on their website. https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/any-questions/sports-equipment/special-charges/
  23. At the price point you really are spoilt for choice. I've got a pair of cheap as chips Volkano ones that I picked up from Clicks for R399. The sounds is average at best but they do the job. I use them for teams meeting etc https://www.takealot.com/volkano-pisces-series-2-0-true-wireless-earphones/PLID94933910?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw26KxBhBDEiwAu6KXt31vt6SRQ5VSe9EiMCBS8VHzs3GGv3BtGhw3jHtYzVWMarm3eIuKchoC6H4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds My wife has a pair of Jabra Elite 4 which she has on all day long in meetings all of the time. She also uses them on the trainer. The Elite 2's are in your price range. The thing that's nice about them is they come with different sizes of the little rubbers so you can customize the fit. https://www.takealot.com/jabra-elite-2-true-wireless-in-ear-earbuds-with-mic/PLID73020655?colour_variant=Navy
  24. We use mywoosh because...... Free Download some youtubes. Tee them up and off you go. I download cos the bandwidth is less than optimal in my garage where the trainer is. There's a tv in there and the laptop gets set up next to the tv. Youtubes on the TV My wife puts a music playlist on her phone.
