  1. Anyone looking to snake proof their dog please DM me and I'll put you on to the dog trainer. She's not doing any more till Jan. Some feedback. It was sort of a mixed bag. My Staffy X parked right next to the boa and has totally disinterested. We should probably have wrapped the boa in vienas to get her more interested. My Mali had a strong reaction so that's good. Whether there was any value in the whole event I can't really say. But I'd much rather have done it than not.
  2. I'll try to get the guys number to you. Aparently the guy has a cobra and a puffie. Both contained and the dogs are shown them and shocked. He also has a boa that's on the grass and the dogs are exposed to that. One of the people that I do search and rescue work with organized it. She's a professional dog trainer.
  3. I get where you are coming from and concur. I'm not going to shock myself tho. As much joy as I know that would give you. Hehe. In this instance the dogs need to understand snake = big pain. If there was another way to do this I would. With the tracking I do with my dog we spend a lot of time in the veld and I'd be devasted if he got bitten. He's a working dog and we're always in the bush and he's always on a 7m long lead so I don't have immediate access to him.
  4. Both of my dogs are going for snake proofing on Sunday. They expose the dogs to the snake and then drill them with a shock collar. Not nice but it's way better than having a snake killing your dog
  5. I 100% agree with you. Unfortunately there's also the counter to this. When you actually need something done the only way to get it done is often to throw your toys and behave like a complete prat to actually be heard and for action to be taken. I had an issue after covid with a travel company who will remain nameless. The only way to actually speak to a human being instead of being caught in an endless whattsapp loop was to create a hellopeter account and have a whinge on there.
  6. That's beautiful. I'm a lefty too. Damned hard finding decent guitars for wrong handers. I got rid of all my stuff a while ago. All I have left is my Washburn D10 SCE. I'll never sell that. My wife recently picked up a little Takamine G series from a mate who flips guitars and we did a few lessons together which was fun. For any newbies looking to just strum along to some tunes there's a brilliant app called chordify that we use when we're in the mood. The pro version is like R250 a year.
  7. Generally my other half and I find American shows to be shirt. However, We're watching Yellowstone. Yes they're all a bunch of murdering sociopaths but we are somehow enjoying it. And the scenery is incredible which is always great.
  8. At the opposite end of the spectrum are surfboards. I've always said they are way too cheap. A top of the line hand made board from a big name brand can be had for 10k. Yes they are roughly shaped by machine but they are finished by hand and glassed by hand. You can get a Pyzel Ghost model for 10k in this country. That's the same board that's ridden by John John Florence scaled to your weight.
  9. I used to be a big Rouvy and Zwift fan. But mywoosh being free makes it a no brainer for me. I only ever do workouts anyway. The massive updates aren't an issue for me. I just start the app during the day and download the updates long before my workout. I put youtube on my TV and run the app on my laptop and off I go. If I want to pretend to be riding Alp d Huez during my workout I'll find a POV vid of a guy riding it. Riding indoors still sucks BIG TIME tho.
  10. I think everyone is in agreement that a real firearm is best for self defense. But if for whatever reason you cannot have a firearm or have one on you, a pepper gun/pepper spray is a whole lot better than fending off an attacker with your personality. I've done a bit of research (Youtubing) on this and it's interesting to note that some people don't seem to be phased by pepper spray/tear gas at all. But I'm far more conformable having a pepper ball launcher in my side table at night than having to reason with a criminal in my underpants at 3 in the morning.
  11. what is the effective range of the pepper round? Does it blow out a cloud of pepper or does it fie a projectile that explodes on impact like the Byrna, Tippmann etc?
  12. One that has Honda written on the tank.
  13. For mountain biking at night. Just my humble opinion I used 2 lights. A bar mount AND a head mount. The head one lights up where you want to go and the bar one lights up where you are going. Not necessarily the same thing. Having said that night riding is not for me.
  14. Hahaha. Yeah. The dog is amazing. The handler has been a huge disappointment from day 1.
  15. Check out the self control. The tugs are his favorite toys. He's going up for evaluation soon. If he passes he'll be a qualified INBTI trailing dog which essentially means he's qualified to go looking for missing people on the mountain.
  16. What I really like about this is that it can work as a nice general use kit. It's really nice. Unlike that god-awful Ciovita Xmas one.
  17. It's not for me but I do like it. And the Vye kit i do have is Very very nice.
  18. I used to have this mate who looks like you. We used to ride bikes together. Go surfing together. Braai. We even used to go to france to ride bikes together.
  19. We go subtitles. The dubbing is pretty atrocious. Plus we try to identify the french words. I don't know exactly what youtube version we have but the justification was mainly around spotify. My daughter was paying for spotify and I said ok I'll pay but it's youtube.
  20. NOTED! The trailer has a few Belgian Malinois' in it which instantly makes it a win IMO.
  21. That's gigantically overpriced.
  22. We watch mostly the French & German language stuff on Netflix. We stopped watching any American stuff years ago coz it's all the same. Washed up ex A lister in a CIA/FBI/Mafia conspiracy blah blah blah. We're currently watching a thing called Public Enemy. Which is actually Belgian. I also pay for Youtube which is basically ad free youtube. It also allows you to download playlists (music) so no need for spotify in our house. Honestly if I lived on my own that's all I'd use. My daughter pays for Disney+ but I honestly don't know why cos she doesn't watch Star Wars. Is there anything else on there?
  23. I took my tickr out the drawer the other day after not using it for several years (I use a Garmin watch for HR now) Put a new battery in and it worked straight away. They do seem to go through batteries faster than other units but the little flashy lights to show you it's working is a nice plus for me. Well worth the money IMO.
  24. Disclaimer. Only been to euro bike parks not Whistler 100%. The way the trails are built is so good. The corners set you up with the correct speed so you clear the first jump. Then the next jump is a bit bigger so you clear that too etc etc. There's no weird lips that buck or corners that bleed off too much speed. You never encounter a section of trail and wonder if the builder maybe had a hangover the day he built it.
  25. I've always taken my own MTB but on my last roadie trip with my wife we rented and the convenience was great. Just arrive and pick up your bike. No lugging huge boxes around. No stressing whether your bike will actually arrive. And yes. The wear and tear is unbelievable. a standard day in Morz (6000m of descending) is 50 runs at Paarl. I imagine whistler will be similar.
