  1. ...or go 180 front and rear or 200 front and 180 rear
  2. Won't that cause mud to pack in there as opposed to only around the frame if not used? What is the purpose of mounting it there as I cannot see it stopping mud or water from being flung up onto your back? Just asking cause I have never considered one on the rear...
  3. Congrats Michele! Hope you enjoy your new machine. Hope you come on here at least once (if you aren't already) and post a pic of it in all it's glory
  4. My comment was not related to winning the bike but more to do with what options I would have if I were to purchase one. After all, are we not discussing this brand in this thread? ...and by doing so the organizers and supporting companies are getting just what they wanted....brand exposure ....and believe me if you were to give me one in any colour I would definitely not say no
  5. Aww no more Shimano XT options for the Tallbay CC ...never been a fan of SRAM... Who comes up with these hideous frame colours??? Gloss rust !!! The black is nice but it doesn't make it WOW . I still like the bike but a step back in that department me thinks!
  6. Keen to get some feedback as to how the stickers hold up after some abuse and a few washes!
  7. I realize that the nearest store is a long drive away from where you are situated but Cycle Lab has the 2017 Merida 96 600 on special for R19 999.00 so you can have a new bike for your budget It is pretty well spec'd for what it is and while it only has 100mm travel and not as relaxed as a new scott spark it should do the trick for the terrain you are riding on! Best would be to try a few bikes and see where your preferences lie and then make your decision. R20K is still a hefty amount to spend these days so you want to make sure you buy right.
  8. @ CWC - I see you posted a pic on FB showing the arrival of more Maxxis stock. Is this just a restock or do you have any new tyre models in the mix? In particular I am looking for an Ardent Race 29x2.2 EXO/TR at your killer price of R380 Your 29x2.35's no longer show up in the tyre listings so I assume they are out of stock! This would be too wide for my application unfortunately
  9. Nice! Let us know how you get along and how you note the difference to be when riding tubeless
  10. Please post a link cause I do not see anything on their site regarding a decent front light for just under a grand....except the normal torch-like ones... EDIT: found it....my page did not load properly
  11. I assume you are ordering from CWC then.... If you have not ordered as yet then I would strongly advise against the Gato, especially for the rear! If you are dead set on Vittoria then rather go for the Saguaro or even Barzo. The Saguaro would be the better one as it has a lower rolling resistance. Or even the Maxxis crossmark rear and Ardent front combo...Ikon rear and Ardent front would also be fine. Don't buy a tyre just becuase it is the cheapest option. Do a little research first! It can make or break your riding experience!
  12. Do you have the tyres already?
  13. Get something like this for repairing your tubeless tyres when you have a small cut or hole... http://www.rydercycling.co.za/ryder-products/sealant-puncture-protection/tubeless-repair-kit-detail
  14. What kind of riding are you doing? Which tyres did you get or planning to get and how much are you paying for them?
  15. Rather get a floor pump as it is more acurate, less effort and has a gauge so you can find the right pressure for your weight/terrain/style and set it accordingly before you go out. Floor pump will also help seat the tubeless tyres. You and your squeeze are gonna pomp forever with the hand pump and the tyres will just stay limp.... No need for a hand pump if you have C02 canisters while out on a ride! Search youtube for vids as there are hundreds but if you get stuck I am sure your LBS will do it for a small fee...or find a hubber close buy with the skills and by him a beer or three.
  16. In all honesty I would stay away from the entry level Fuji full suspension bikes. They make great bikes but for some reason that frame has "NO" written all over it! Might just be the looks but I do also recall someone telling me that the frame design would be problematic in the long run (might have been the pivot design).... not the best argument I know but it's what I have for now Can't go wrong with the Silverback as always. Also look at the Merida 96 600 if that is the price bracket you are looking at. Take them for a ride. As you are in the east rand, also take a look at Finish Line cycles in Kempton Park.
  17. Thanks for all the feedback.... I am still in 2 minds whether or not I should go for it or just wait a little and get the Ryder... I like stuff to work and work and work....
  18. I don't see I-spec as fiddly... it's actually much easier to install especially if the grips are already on the handlebars
  19. Have they quoted you on the new battery pack as yet? Care to share what it will cost? Are you keeping the same battery specs/type or going better?
  20. It does look great and that red... But at that price I would have at least expected more up-to-date brakes especially being a new model and all. I know all manufacturers do that to save costs but then why not use the new Deore M6000 brakes (same look as M7000 and M8000) and take advantage of the new I-specII mounting to really give the cockpit the WOW factor it deserves!
  21. What are the charge times like when comparing the two? Surely USB must be longer than wall charging or does it drop it down to 3-5V anyway? There is no mention of being waterproof on either...one would assume that they are but then again...
  22. http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/bicycle-light-1000-lumens Any feedback on how well it works....or doesn't? How does it compare to the popular Ryder set that comes in a bag? It seems to be going for a steal compared to what else is out there...
