  1. Thanks, @Wannabe suggested him as well. He said he can help out, R15k for the rebuild (including sourcing the parts + labour).
  2. I am jealous Hairy, looks very nice!
  3. The previous owner is not very helpful at all, he just said everything worked 100% when he had the bike. But yeah, I should maybe get a professional opinion from a mechanic, if I can only find one. Maybe it is just the main bearings that need replacing.
  4. Yeah, did not receive good news and totally ruined my day. Seems that the engine needs a rebuild... Quite disappointed at the previous owner, since he said the bike is mechanically sound which it was clearly not true after stripping the bike and checking the engine. And just the fact that nobody can assist you with the bike is super annoying and frustrating. Sadly don't have the financial means to take it further, so will probably end up selling the bike after the stator has been fixed.
  5. Very interesting, thanks for the share!
  6. So the previous owner used the bike a bit for commuting, so mostly road and maybe a bit of gravel over the weekend. It is an interesting combo but my plan would be to get 50/50 on the bike after these are worn out.
  7. Indeed, I agree with you and then you can hopefully put that knowledge to good use if you experience any problems out on an adventure. Thanks for the tip, I am currently on the Wild Dog Forum whereby I am pointed in the right direction since a few members have own a G450X before, so making progress at least. For the small time I spend on it so far, I also climbed off with a smile on my face, so eager to get it back up and running. Are you referring to this model perhaps:
  8. @Hairy on a Davidson I'll try my best, I am still a noob to the world of motorcycling. But hopefully we can sort this bike out so that she can experience some off-road adventures!
  9. Interesting, nobody wants to touch this bike of mine so we decided to give it a go ourselves. Burned wiring on the stator, there is the culprit. We took it in for a proper rewinding, so ETA is next week. Not sure if there should a bit of play on a flywheel, see video for reference: You can clearly see that the previous owner rode this bike hard/did not look after it if you look inside of the flywheel:
  10. Lock and loaded, hopefully she can be on the road soon.
  11. BMW HP2... What a beast! You must have steel between your legs to ride that monster.
  12. Wow, that fast Hairy. I needed to wait almost a month for mine. Durbanville Traffic Department.
  13. @Jbr I used these for a year for my indoor cycling, as well as a few rides outdoor when doing intervals. Nothing fancy and probably all you need really when doing your exercising. Also, if something might happen to it is not a complete train-smash since you did not pay an arm and leg for it. My friend has the Airpods Pro and they are quite neat but battery life is not that great and the ANC will only be helpful for indoor rides since you need your spatial awareness. The XM3 is amazing but again those are for entertainment use and not recommended at all for fitness since have no water-resistant rating. With that being said, I love mine!
  14. Thanks GrahamS2. Joined the Wild Dog ADV Forum and the members are really helpful. I asked Flying Brick in Cape Town as well for any advice but a user called BiG DoM said he had the exact same problem with his G450X and rewiring was the best option since the part is quite expensive and hard to come by. He provided me with the details of the person who did his rewiring and claimed he does it better than the OEM, so know I just need to remove the stator to be couriered for rewound.
  15. Thank you very much, so I have seen over hear haha. Where is all die ADV riders? Will check out that thread, thanks. Now that you mention it, if I am not mistaken, one of the owners of Flying Brick actually owned a G450X not sure if he still does but probably won't hurt getting in touch with them.
  16. Joined the motorcycling a week ago, so still fresh and new to the whole idea but puts a smile on my face every time I get on the bike. I went for my first long ride and off-road (gravel) with the bike, and I love every minute of it! 40km loop Spes Bona, back of Malanshoogte and back up Vissershok home. It handled great on the open road and cruised at 95kph with ease, the suspension felt great on the bumpy 'sinkplaat' gravel road. 2010 BMW G450X Sadly there seems to be an issue with the stator since it does not charge the battery while riding, luckily with me being lightweight and the bike as well, my friends just pushed me to jumpstart the bike to get me home where I put it on charge again. We did confirm the problem Saturday afternoon by stripping the bike and testing the 3-phase cable with the voltmeter where it read 30 - 16 - 6. So yeah, a new stator needed, fun times... If anyone knows a secondhand BMW dealer for parts or know of someone who can source a stator for the 2010 G450X, please DM me. I will greatly appreciate it.
  17. Hi all, I have a bunch of kit that I would like to donate to a good home or cause. Size ranges from extra small to medium. Located in Durbanville and you are more than welcome to collect. Please PM me if you are interested. Giordana bib has a small hole in it due to a crash but will still make a great bib for indoor training. *Disclaimer, I am keeping the ASSOS base layer
  18. That is always the question haha. The 1080 may be an old card but still kicks, combine that with the 3700X and 32GB of RAM and you are sorted. Crysis 3 at 1080p (very high + FXAA) you are looking at 111.4FPS. At 1440p same settings, you are safely over 60FPS. MFS2020 is a kind of its own. 1080p ultra settings you are looking at 41FPS. But hey, I am all for frame rates (so lower the quality is not an issue at all for me), need to fully utilise my 144Hz monitor.
  19. Thanks all. Power meter sold and went to a good home of a triathlete.
  20. Sorry, that is something I completely left out. Ultegra 6800 172.5mm
