If only I'd bought a Specialized. I crashed with another well known brand and destroyed the helmet. My puppy chewed part of the damaged helmet. Despite it being damaged in an accident, they wouldn't honour the crash replacement because of the teeth marks.

One of my colleagues was in the queue yesterday at 6:30 am. She got out at 2:30. You can check the queue size at any particular branch on the SARS website. Just check it out before you go or take a day's leave.

I'm not sure exactly what correspondence you have, but it sounds like you have been identified for what they call a "full scope audit." That means they will come to you. They will contact you and set up an appointment. Whether they are entitled to withhold your future refunds is a mute point. We have had this happen to some of our clients and we have offered to fight this legally for them, but none of them are prepared to pay our fees as it could get costly. The problem with a full scope is the time frames for them to finalize the matter. It could take 6 months or more, hence the unfairness of waiting for refunds. Before you do anything, please read the correspondence carefully to see exactly what they want you to do.

This is windy season in Cape Town, anybody who has ever been in CT during windy season will know what a hurricane feels like. Why is the CTCT held this time of the year. Although never cancelled, this is not the first time the event has been spoiled because of high winds.

That doesn't sound right. These chainstay had a history of cracking. Scott did not replace the frames of those that cracked, they only replaced the chainstays. That tells me that they are available as a separate unit and Scott probably has stock.

The importer of these frames was a Hubber and had a massive special on them recently. You could have picked up a decent deal. I suspect they didn't sell to well and they were discounted to move them.

Move to PE. We have the Baakens Valley with some awesome trails to cycle and run on, doesn't cost a cent. We have a whole ocean to satisfy all your swimming needs and that is free too.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about changing the brakes. Just ride it with the 23 tyres. I would be prepared to sacrifice a bit of comfort to save R2.5k

There was a very lengthy thread on the Hub about this. I cannot remember what the solution was (if there was a solution). Try and do a search and see if you can find it.

I know there are some real arses out on our roads, but I find it difficult to believe that a group of riders will over take someone and start pushing and shoving him just because he was there. I have been over-taken by many big groups (yes Cyclelab too) and have always been greeted by the guys in the faster groups, some have offered encouragement and many have offered for me to join them. I have also been in big groups over taking slower riders and again, the same courtesy was offered. There is something more to this story. Maybe an unintentional bump by a rider in the group that was perceived as a push. As far as shouting is concerned. It is normal to shout in the bunch to warn others of the slower rider, to warn others of approaching cars etc. Perhaps that shouting was percieved as abuse.

Anything is better than the prison outfits of last year....but I agree, too bland and boring.

I think it's awesome. The thing I like is that Momsen are not afraid to be South African. They are proud of it. Unlike other SA brands that claim to be Swiss or German. The map of the Baakens Valley on the top tube is a nice touch.

Then there was the guy who got 10 years for smuggling Cycads. 8months for murdering a human vs selling illegal plants. Makes you wonder

I did a 2day stage race in George in 2000. The entry fee was probably less than R200 back then. I know that currency in SA has lost a lot of ground since then, but have to admit paying R4 900 is hard to swallow.
