  1. If it is just a front rim, can it not be replaced with a rim that is locally available. Most carbon rims look the same anyway, except for the decals
  2. Anybody with some experience in airbrushing will have that looking as good as new. I often wonder. We pay an arm and a leg for bike insurance. Would cosmetic damage like this be covered by insurance? It might be worth finding out and getting a professional to do the job.
  3. Pro or not, nothing more annoying than having someone wheelsuck you.
  4. I think you completely misunderstood the context of Meezo's post.
  5. I'm am pretty sure that Bloemendale Bike Park is legally required to have trained first aiders and the necessary first aid equipment available. Just like a public pool is legally required to have life guards. They cannot just shrug their shoulders and say they don't get involved.
  6. Just reading your post, one can tell that you have done some research and have already built up some good knowledge. XT is good, but not necessary. There are some very good lower tier components that will do the job just as well, but at a cheaper point. SLX and Deore are good examples. With your budget, check out Titan Racing. You'll get a new bike for budget, with an industry leading warranty.
  7. Firstly...This is a kids bike. Don't buy it. Secondly, you are a young student, you don't need an eBike. Get a real bike and pedal to varsity. It's only 5kms. Even the most unfittest of people can cycle 5kms. Your fitness levels will improve quickly and you'll be happier for it. R5k will buy you a much better quality normal bike than an eBike.
  8. Lekker, they are coming to the party. You had better hope that they replace the chain stay with the same colour.
  9. I wouldn't go for a 24inch bike. He is already bordering on the edge of being too big for it An extra small bike would probably be your best bet. You get extra small frames in 26, 27.5 and 29 inch wheels. I have no experience in this, but logic tells me that 29 inch wheels on an XS frame would make for some difficult handling. That said, I would opt for a 26/27.5 wheel size Don't spend a fortune, you will blink and he would have outgrown the XS frame.
  10. What damage are we talking about? Is it a cracked frame or just some scratches.
  11. Don't cycle in the dunes or beach trails. Cycling in sand is the worst. You will hate it.
  12. True, but now you have to pay postage for 2 items.
  13. My first new bike as an adult was an Avalanche. Good value for money and it got me into the sport. Avalanche has a good spectrum in the value end of the market. All it needs now is a value full suspension.
  14. Inviting Bike Hub to debate another person's selling price is a pretty low blow.
  15. If you are not a serious mountain biker, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference between 100 and 120mm (I know I wouldn't) I say save the R5k and get last year's model.
  16. I've seen some pretty cool things on the road. Two that stick out: A pig giving birth (at first I thought a car had hit her). A horse, a donkey and a camel running down the road together. 3 very unlikely friends
  17. Bianchi certainly knows how to make good looking bikes. Just too scare to even think about the pricing
  18. Something simple which can be easily missed. Is that lever that open and closes the brakes for wheel removal in the closed postion?
  19. You are over analysing this. Just get on your bike and ride. You don't need an eBike to keep up. Give it a month or two and you will be where you were 8 years ago.
  20. Better late than never I suppose
  21. It costs nothing to lay a charge and have him prosecuted (assuming there is enough evidence for the state to use) Laying a civil claim against against him will cost though. The people who were scammed must lay charges.
  22. You really don't need anything expensive. MTB tyre pressures are so low, so a cheap pump from Makro will do the trick. Pumps with a big volume are a must. I bought mine at Makro 20 years ago. It was a nice fat pump (therefore the volume). I lost it once and then a few months later found it on the side of the road. It had obviously been ridden over by a few cars. But it still works and I still use it.
  23. Firstly, you need to determine what size bike you ride. Your options run from a small to a large. Once you have that, then you can start narrowing options. For R15k, you will find a pretty decent, full carbon bike.
