  1. Years back, was hit by a car. The back of my head hitting the tarmac. The helmet saved my skull and probably my life. Left the broken helmet on the garage floor and our puppy chewed it. Unfortunately, they didn't honour the crash replacement. I guess they thought I was pulling a fast one.
  2. That would be pretty boring if that was the case. Things change, time changes, logos change. Not just for bikes, but for everything. Renault has just changed their logo, so too has Nissan. FNB has a new logo too.
  3. I suppose it would depend on the insurer, but every single claim I have ever had, the cash was paid to me (except for a geyser replacement) I am sure that if this is not the case, you can negotiate with the bike shop.
  4. Yes, Cool Heat Agencies. These are the ppl being discussed.
  5. Had a similar thing happen to me on a TV. Salesman told me 2 year warranty. On month 13, it gave problems. Took it back only to be told it was a 12 month warranty. I dug out my documents and sure enough, it was one year. The moral of the story, don't always take the salesman's word for it. Read the docs that came with the bike.
  6. Black Spade was a local brand. I think they were generic Chinese frames branded as Black Spade by a hubber with the name of Pornstar (I think his name was Colin Allin or something like that). Black Spade is long gone.
  7. What's even more concerning is the fact that Shimano SA has no 11sp parts for road bikes. Spend a fortune on Di2 and Shimano can't even back you up.
  8. Does Bogus still do resprays. He has been very quiet on the Hub of late
  9. Could even be one of those generic frames that are sold under various, different brand names
  10. Do any rim brake bikes accept disc brake calipers? I have yet to hear of one (I could be mistaken though)
  11. This had a happy ending for both the owner and the thief. Someone spotted the thief walking with the bike, realised it was stolen and gave him R1,500 for the bike. The owner was traced by and handed back. Although it's easy to say, the driver should have just reversed over the thief. He would have been in a whole lot of pain
  12. CSA has been talking about this for as long as I have been cycling. It has taken them 20 years to get this far. Finally, let's hope it is a success.
  13. This might work on a steel or titanium frame, but the Warp 5 is neither. I think it is carbon. Maybe a carbon expert could build up the chain stay to strengthen it, but I still wouldn't trust it.
  14. You hit the nail on the head. You refer to a BMW accredited dealer or an iPhone store. Who accredits carbon repairers? Is there a carbon industry body? Is there a certification for a carbon repairer issued from an accredited agency? I have not heard of any (maybe I am wrong). Until that happens, I would want my insurer to replace rather than repair.
  15. You can get mounts that bolt onto your chain/seat stay that allow you to mount disc brakes, but I would not even consider it. The frame was not designed for disc brakes and I highly doubt that the chain/seat stay will be strong enough at that spot to handle those forces
  16. I wouldn't even hesitate. You won't get that much bike for that amount of money anywhere else
  17. He mentioned that was the Elite that he was looking at. That has Sram Rival hydraulic brakes and carbon wheels https://titanracingbikes.com/bikes/valerian-carbon-elite/
  18. Do it yourself. It is very rewarding. Lots of YouTube vids. What ever you can't do (don't have the right tool etc), can go to a bike shop. I just did one recently, took about an hour. I didn't have a tool for the BB. Bike shop removed it and tightened it on the new frame. Cost me R50
  19. Can't see too well what the groupset is. If this is a Dura Ace groupset, you would get alot more than if it was a Tiagra groupset. Give more details
  20. This is a 2006 aluminum frame. Completely different to the one under discussion. I've been watching that add with interest. The seller is delusional. He has dropped his price significantly over time and it is still over priced.
  21. RC7000 had Ultegra and RC6000C had 105. The RC9000 name was dropped for this time period when they went carbon on their top models.
  22. I disagree with you. There was a yellow and blue version, specced with Dura Ace and Zipp wheels. Exact frame, just different colours. There was also a blue and black version with Ultegra. The 105 version was a completely different frame (lower end). This frame carried over to when Raleigh's name changed to Axis in SA (another story for another day).
  23. You must be smoking something, R3k for a full carbon bike with Ultegra? How can you compare Mongoose man's aluminium bike with this carbon bike. Not sure what parts were on the bike, but if they were standard, the aluminum version came out with Tiagra.
