  1. I'm trying my best to do just that, but it's so damn difficult when the competitive streak emerges.
  2. And what do I do in this case? Just recovered from Covid, can only be vaxed a month after recovering, but then not allowed to do strenuous exercise for 4 weeks after being vaxed? (this is what my GP and Dr Google tells me)
  3. Same here, and with Covid still fresh in my system. Gonna be a test of character for sure.
  4. Comment removed. Off Topic.
  5. Nope, got the virus the same week we were scheduled for the Vaccine. My wife was very hesitant, as she has a genetic disposition that leads to blood clotting (she's on Warferin to combat it) We were advised to get the J&J jab as it has the best record with blood clots, and it was a struggle to get an vaccination point that does J&J. So we have to go through that again once we can go for the jab again (I believe it's a month after getting Covid, not sure if it's from the day of testing positive, or 10 days after that the countdown starts.) I've only got the fatique when doing hard work, and a dry cough (no phlegm) I'm lucky in that I'm healthy with no co-morbidities at all, although I was very inactive for a few months pre-Covid, so I had no base to rely on. Let's see how this recovery goes, I made sure that I did nothing until most of the symptoms cleared (even my taste and smell is returning), so hopefully I can gain a reasonable level of fitness before CTCT.
  6. Thanks guys. Luckily my HR stays constant during the rides, although some guys would say it is high. It hovers in the high 150's to low 160's, but then I'm still very comfortable, breathing easily. Must add, my HR is normally very high for a 50 plusser (I can comfortably take it to high 180's (sometimes low 190's) when pushing it when fit) I've checked, I'm avg of 15-20 beats more than my training partners of the same age when riding the same pace.)
  7. Quick change of tack. Those that had Covid, how soon after could you start training again? I had the damn infection almost whole of August, could only go back to my business/work last week? I already had 3 x very low intensity/short distance/flat route Mtb rides. Felt ok'ish, obviously did not push it and tried to keep the HR under control. Chest felt good, no wheezing or short of breath. Also did not felt fatigued after the rides. Doing my work however (quite intense and labour intensive) I fatigue very quickly. After a 3 hour stint yesterday, I had to recover for about 2hrs before I could clean and pack my equipment. I sweated quite a lot, and drank about two liters of water in that period. I can feel it in my body today, and this concerns me. I would dearly like to do my 19th CTCT this year (plan is to do 21 consecutively, and then call it a day)
  8. I'll rather save for a bit and do the J2C again. I.M.O a much better experience (not as if I did the Epic before, going on what friends says that has done both) and as I'm not "racing" it is a much more relaxed experience. It is also longer KM and day's riding wize, so you get more bang for your buck.
  9. I have gotten a lot better over the last week, been hell for three weeks before that. Got the damn infection the same week we were scheduled for our jabs. (Colleague of my wife brought the bug to work, claiming to "only have a cold" Needless to say, we paid the price. ????????)
  10. I'm praying that this Covid 19 releases it's grip on me, so that I can get back on the trails again. Did a 15km "low intensity" ride on my local Greenbelts yesterday, and it was a lot harder work than it normally is.
  11. Even after a few years, it is still strange to see you interact on a Mtb thread. I'm glad though.
  12. I have a similar one from a different brand. All I can say is, it beats sleeping on the hard ground, if only but just.
  13. It's crazy what a decent condition stroker costs these days. Saw a "project in progress" 350LC advertised for 120k. ????

    RIFLE

It's been just more than a year since I put in my renewal applications for both my firearms (9mm and .308), and no result as yet. Application was put in on 08 August 2020. Local DFO says that their is a huge backlog (no **** sherlock), and I must just wait. Can't give me a timeline, not even a guesstimate as to how long it will still take.
  15. Nice man. Now to find the holy grail, a 500 Gamma.
  16. What a nice, pre-sling Gixxer. I like
  17. I managed to assist him with a bit more information. He will be reporting to SAPS tonite.
  18. Contents edited to remove any possible incriminatory information
  19. His bike is a write off. Luckily he's just shaken and bruised, no lesions. Quite sure it's going to hit him a bit later. Only issue is that it is his TT bike, and he has a race in a months time.
  20. Still no payment received.
  21. Give or a take a year or two. lol.....
  22. It's not like it's a huge amount, can't even buy a groupset upgrade kit with it. ????
