  1. Hi Niner. What specifically didn't you enjoy? For a first time event on a route which hardly if ever gets used I thought it was a pretty good show. Sure, one or two small things could have made a difference (like having the PA system working on time and playing "Beautfiful Day" to get some spirit going before the race), but the route was scenic and well marked. Yes, there was a hectic bottleneck crossing the donga, but for the rest I thought it was a nice route (admittedly I did the 30 but my wife says the 60 was great too). And when last did you get Red Bulls after the race? Not that that's the measure but just asking. Horses for courses I guess. No pun intended.
  2. Four words. Dean Greyling Heyneke Meyer. Nuff said.
  3. At least WP won the fights.
  4. And to think this whole thread started with a careless whisper!!
  5. What was your distance please? Trying to set my Polar. Thnx.
  6. Anybody see the Tyler Hamilton interview on BBC last night? Basically said "back then" the whole peloton was rotten to the core, and if you didn't dope you were left behind. Mentioned an incident in Colorado last year where LA confronted him in a restaurant basically saying he should use LA's lawyers or keep quiet.
  7. Sincerely hope not. Hopefully there are tough performance clauses.
  8. Will be a loss for SA rugby if he is. Really impressive no 8.
  9. He won't. French club won't release him. Pity.
  10. Seems our wit passed on the wires. Although it's no joke!!
  11. Same channel as the Heyneke Meyer dog and pony show. I think we may well see Morne's last 50 minutes of Test rugby on Saturday. And what an admission to drop Coetzee and put Francois Louw at 6. I'm all for continuity but we need a new start and certainly a new game plan on the home leg. 15 Lambie 14 Habana 13 De Villiers (but he hasn't impressed as a player. "On track" as a good captain though. Lionel Mapoe and Paul Jordan knocking on door) 12 Steyn 11 Mvovo 10 Goosen (with Jantjies on bench) 9 Pienaar (with either McLeod or Sarel Pretorius on bench) 1 Beast (although he's not on form) 2 Strauss (could be captain if want youth at centre instead of Jean) 3 Jannie (also not on form) 4 Etzebeth (drop Flip from the squad please!!) 5 Kruger (with Francois Uys from Cheetahs on bench perhaps or Bekker if his back is healthy) 6 Brussow 7 Alberts 8 CJ Stander (super impressive from Bulls in Currie Cup!)
  12. Entered the 60km. BUT!! 40th Friday night. 46th Saturday morning (on bikes through Franschhoek wine farms) ending with lunch on a wine farm. And sleeping over at Val de Vie Saturday night. Good chance I'll step down to the 30km come Sunday morning - depending on that illusive profile!!
  13. It's been an interesting read, LL. I guess the poll results speak more than words can. I doubt if a Springbok Rugby hero (if such a person exists!!) was found guilty of using a banned substance, whether consumers would boycott Castle Lager or ABSA bank.
  14. I think inflation. Was four years ago!!
  15. And it will get worse - no Hot Cross Buns going into Easter either.
  16. Not unless we mention that most of the walk was from the dirt road in the middle, right of the picture. And that the picture was taken about 3/5 up!!
  17. Staalwater MTB, Caledon, Saturday 8 September.
  18. What a fantastic race in the most beautiful setting. And a fantastic turnout. Blue Cranes (and their calls!!). Spring flowers in full bloom. Proteas. Green wheat fields (or was it barley?), and then of course "Mole Hill". The addition of Mole Hill and the changes to the finish were a major improvement on last year in my opinion. Here's a picture from "Mole Hill". Some more pics in "Where's your bike taken you today?" thread.
  19. Maybe Woolies should aspire to have their employee profile match that of their client profile, because it's their clients that pay their salaries and drive their share price? I don't know what their client profile looks like, yet what ever it is it obviously must have geographic differences too. Funny how some people would boycott SAA over their cadet enrollment plans because they fly once in a blue moon, but are happy to look the other way with Woolies because it affects a daily purchasing preference. Off to go buy my favorite chicken, bacon caeser sandwich for lunch ...
  20. You're right, except what was a fairly tough tar climb (similar to Tokai mast) is now jeep. From the website I see its 250m in 3km. That might take a few minutes. Otherwise mainly farm roads with some jeep track and then one or two km's of single track. Of wat se die manne daar in Caledon se wereld?

    Chopper

That's why I'm holding back now on my latest acquisition!
  22. Daai teerpas was taai genoeg op teer - so nou's dit jeep. Eish. Verder dieselfde?
  23. Rightfully he was dropped after his poor defensive show in Argentina. He looked out of sorts, and I read he may still have back problems. My simple take on it is he isn't bending his knees enough in the tackle and is instead bending over his hips which creates strain on his back and makes him ineffectual.
  24. Julle maak my bang!! Wat het verander? Het dit nou Kamp Staaldraad geword??
  25. Ah. Elbow is a bugger. I know. I had the "terrible triad" (Google it) and ulnar nerve damage back in 2006 after a stupid fall in Tokai. Indeed - until next time.
