  1. Next time then when you're in Cape Town. I don't know the details of your wife's mishap, but hope she's on the mend.
  2. What excites me most looking at the bench is it looks like Lambie on for Kirchner (who, by the way, I think has been one of the few players worthy of his spot on current form), and Goosen on for Morne Steyn, which puts Pienaar, Goosen and Frans Steyn next to each other. Now if the forwards can retain good ball and allow quick phases from the breakdown, that quarter and half back combination makes my mouth water ...
  3. Saturday's team: 15. Zane Kirchner, 14 Bryan Habana, 13 Jean de Villiers (captain), 12 Frans Steyn, 11 Francois Hougaard, 10 Morné Steyn, 9 Ruan Pienaar, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Willem Alberts, 6 Marcell Coetzee, 5 Juandre Kruger, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Adriaan Strauss, 1 Beast Mtawarira. Substitutes: 16 Tiaan Liebenberg, 17 Pat Cilliers, 18 Flip van der Merwe, 19 Francois Louw, 20 Johan Goosen, 21 Patrick Lambie, 22 Lwazi Mvovo
  4. Other than stating the obvious and also questioning how it will be policed, at least it could potentially put cyclists' safety in the mind of motorists.
  5. Not sure if this has been posted already (please merge if so), but I read that the Western Cape Government has introduced a Road Traffic Bill for comment by September 20, which, amongst others, will introduce a 1.5 m passing law for motorists overtaking cyclists. Also proposes a ban on blue light brigades, but most significantly a 10km/h reduction in speed limits. Should be fun to see the response from those who feel justified speeding in the right lane as if it's an autobahn (what you say Bob?).
  6. You think Tygerberg MTB's got problems? Check these campers out at Bellville Golf Club fishing!
  7. PeptoPro mixed with your hydration for more than 4 hours on the saddle, and Hammer Recoverite afterwards.
  8. Sunday 2 September. Tip Trans Cederberg Xperience. The west coast flowers were in full bloom.
  9. Damn!! Was hoping you wouldn't remember. Three letters sum up my race report - DNF. Let's just say I didn't have my "A-game" with me. It is a tough race even if only on service roads, and I for one certainly under-estimated it. A big thanks to Ratty and her dad for dragging me along at the rear. But after 06h20 and 95km, I knew it was time to throw in the towel (and especially with the sweeper bakkie coming up behind and asking "soek jy n lift?"). And the title of cyclist in our house now officially belongs to my wife - I think she came third out of 5 ladies albeit 5 minutes after the 7-hour cut-off. Stupid as this may sound, when the guy clipped off my board and presented me with a medal I said "no thanks", to which he replied "but you paid", and then I said "you have to earn your medal, not pay for it". And that made me proud for a moment. He agreed. But the race itself must surely have the makings of something big to come. Reminded me a bit of Hell n Back, but much more scenic with the flowers in full bloom and majestic views of the Cederberg. And we were blessed with perfect weather except for the headwind which crept up later in the day (front-markers wouldn't know what we're talking about!). Would highly recommend the event!
  10. 2269 now that I deflated the tyres to 2.1. Gonna try 2266 to adjust for my weight and any errors of parallax.
  11. Havent been on a bike for two weeks. That could be a whole lot tougher than I assumed.
  12. Best advice. Getting on the bike and at typical pressure. Thanks. Will give feedback later on.
  13. Trial and error I guess. Pitty I'm doing 115km on my first ride. Hate to think I've done 115km when it's actually only 90 km!!
  14. I did measure a revolution - 3 times to triple check. That's when I got 2295, which is way off the 2269 interpolated from the charts.
  15. Witgat tussen die daisies!!
  16. So I've searched a few threads on a similar topic, and am quite confused. I'm trying to enter the circumference of a Specialized Captain Control 29 X 2.0 into my Polar. From some online chats (Cateye) and my LBS, I get the following: 29 X 2.1 = 2288 29 X 2.3 = 2326 Using interpolation, that gives: 29 X 2.2 = 2307 29 X 2.0 = 2269 Then some websites advise to subtract between 7 - 10 for weight, tyre pressure, etc. Then some other websites and Hub threads suggest measuring a full revolution. If I do the latter, I get 2295. That's not near the 2269?? Please help!!
  17. Very doable and very scenic. Nothing technical. Maybe hook up for a beer afterwards.
  18. Tried to book a few weeks ago but hotel is full. So we'll try and book into the Spa for the afternoon and head home late afternoon/early evening.
  19. Wrong. I think Jano Vermaak is. I mean .....??????
  20. I think I'm going to need some type of (business) rescue. Am definitely taking my camera along ... understand the flowers might be a spectacle.
  21. Well there we have it. Too soon maybe for Goosen? I think not, even though it may be a bit soon from injury. Raw talent in the mould on Frans Steyn and Pat Lambie.
  22. Looks like perfect weather!! Gonna need all the help I can get. Haven't been on a bike in two weeks with work commitments.
  23. Nope. Staying in a guesthouse in Clanwilliam on Saturday night. Driving through to Citrusdal on Saturday midday.
  24. I would've agreed with you up until the S15 semi's. Then I realised he also has a very one-dimensional game. I'll pick Goosen if he's recovered, or Jantjies even. Lambie's not a specialist flyhalf in my opinion but can play 10 off the bench.
  25. Indeed. But some things are better delayed .....
