  1. different stroke for different folks . a friend of mine, points and wags his finger at them. i just find that i don't want to give them the satisfaction of them knowing that they scared me sh****ss
  2. Showing "the finger" is the most stupidest thing to do, rather wait for the driver to get past you so that he can eyeball you in the rearview mirror and then give a friendly wave. no aggro from your side but i bet the last thing he wants to see is a friendly reaction from someone who he thinks will be p*****d off
  3. i have a S720 and you can do a fitness test to ascertain VO2 and MHR
  4. who are your sponsors???
  5. the clyclelab and mtn clubs in cape town also run red lights - maybe its club policy
  6. from what i know, the ppa have until the end of this year to decide to stay in CSA (remember CSA = SACF and PPA) and a decision should have been taken at the ppa's 2007 AGM. i believe that the ppa wanted to delay the decision until their 2008 AGM. if they do pull out of CSA then they become a "rebel organisation" (my opinion only). the ppa have undergone a tremendous change over the last year or so (internal politics) and many people who were serving the ppa have left.
  7. all it takes is just one rider to stop at every red light because most of the bunch want to stop, they are just too "skaam". its the pack mentality , if one goes thru, then we all go thru the lights
  8. with you on that one kempo - ppa are milking the situation to only benefit themselves
  9. the quicker we realise the middle finger is like a red flag to a bull the better
  10. i think the sour grapes comes from riders like Colonel, Stringbean and Vulgar.
  11. with you one this one NNF - category racing will be brilliant but i'm afraid it would be too much work for PPA or WPCA and probally too much bitching by the prima donnas
  12. Are you sure Icycling' date=' wasn't it the case that you can only ride in the kit what is on your lisence? Unfortunately one rider transgressed the kit/license rule recently to the extent that they will have to check the licenses from now on. [/quote'] Wrong , there were many riders transgressing the rule. the officials were just too slapgat to check. we just used to rock up at the table and Francois took your money and checked that you had a license. the same thing happened in the few winter leagues events that we had.
  13. Thats quite a brave statement nellie... There are a LOT of rugby clubs that have players of colour playing for them. We just dont see it because they're not represented @ national level. Dont you find it funny that a lot of the guys currently in the squad had a father who was a springbok? I fully understand our governments point of view. To the masses it appears VERY much as a "whites only" club/sport. Hard to explain the following. The school near to my g/f house used to be an afrikaans primary with 2 rugby fields. Last year the education department decided to amalgamate them with another school nearby' date=' and bus in kids from the nearby township to this school. My g/f grandfather who used to coach rugby approached the new governing body to offer to coach them, but was laughed at and told they prefer to play soccer. But lets take another view, how many afrikaans schools of the past, or even current do you know that offer soccer as sport. Surely there must be some white afrikaans kid that has soccer talent, but has been denied the opportunity to exercise this. I do not see any programmes to fast track this imbalance at junior or senior level, nor any goverment intervention. I also do not see afrikaans parents making threatening noises, but rather accept their lot. [/quote'] i agree . the solution is take sport out of schools and leave it up to clubs to organise. then we will see what sport is popular. its a miracle that Bafana had two (2) whites in their team on W'day considering the bias towards rugby at school level.
  14. the biggest problem is that the decision makers (who should be transparent/close to cyclists/ears to the ground) are not full time employees. with all due respect to the staff of CSA they are just paid to do a their job to implement procedures and policy but are clueless about the practical side of cycling. the various selectors / commissioners are spread all around the country. how can anyone expect to operate like this.
  15. great time to slot SA Road Champs (but make it just for u23's and Elites cats) in as well
  16. googled neuvation and it gave me USA chat forums about the wheels, seems as though they are an american wheel for the heavier rider. mostly good comments about them.
  17. LBS in CT
  18. what is your opinion on these wheels - for training / racing purposes

the PPA make big money out of cycling events
  21. see my post - the PPA haven't been paying the levy to the CSA but now that L Whittakar and D Bellairs is on the CSA Board they have been requested to start paying over the levy.
  22. Right now I believe the actual figure is over 17 000 members, but feel free to disagree (or check with the PPA)....but that's not the point: Regarding the recreational licence (which becomes a reality in January 2008): The PPA pays the R 20 licence fee for each paid-up member. I'm not sure whether they simply pay over the money for all their members (a sort of de facto affiliation fee) or whether they exclude payment for members that take out cyclosport or full licences. (In addition the PPA also pays a certain amount to the CSA per cyclist taking part in an organised funride, not exactly sure what the amount is) i attended a meeting earlier this year with the PPA and all the organisers of the funride events. there was a question put to the PPA as to amount of members they had and it was confirmed that they had about 13 000 of which 7/8000 were active. the questioner then asked "how come the biggest turnout at an event only peaks at 2 500" and then the PPA spin doctors retorted by saying "would you be able to handle 7 - 8000 entrants at your event? eventually it was agreed that the majority of members took part in the Argus and the Sanlam Burger only. it would be interesting to find out how many members renewed their subs in July. re the licenses , that kicks in in 2008 , i wonder how thay are going to accomplish that? because there are ppa members who are already licensed. CSA levy - all organisers of cycling events must pay R2 per rider to the CSA - only the PPA haven't been paying this, which is a sore point with the clubs in the WP (ask Francois of Falcons) as the first thing you deduct from you income via entry fees is the CSA levy. The PPA is now going to start paying the R2 levy.
