  1. one bunch was riding down a hill. in the bunch riding up the hill to the turn there was a fall and the rider that fell, fell into the right (wrong) side of the road. took out this oke head-on. it was a sickening thud and snapping of carbon. about four riders couldn't carry on riding as their bikes and bodies were broken.
  2. they took each other out in a funride - head on collision at worcester
  3. 2.Kloof Nek ? dont you mean Constantia Nek? same with no 8
  4. contact the PPA
  5. did Dan Nichol get paid to write that?
  6. ja , look at it this way. we still have 100+ undoped riders doing magnificent things on bicycles. Well done John Lee - got a close up foto of you winning the Pezulu Hill Climb last year just outside Knysna.
  7. Worlds at St Johan is very competitive. do yourself a favour and check the results of the TT for 70+ age category, they average over 40kph for their distance.
  8. You're missing the point here Mud Dee, I'm not for one moment denying that Chris won SA's or contesting that his victory is either worthy or not, I'm merely responding to an incorrect statement made that 1. Chris is not a wheelsucker, and 2. that had he been racing in the big races up in Gauteng, he would have kicked serious ass, and then pointing to the facts of the matter at hand at SA's to substantiate... and that is the crux of the matter..........some seriously p****d off Gauteng vets that were beaten by an unknown CT rider.
  9. ag wake up guys , you are treating your SPORT like a job. send the national champ in his age category. period. if CSA aren't paying for you to go to worlds and you feel strongly about going, select yourself and go as an individual.
  10. no mention of the RR in Friday's edition of the Argus. not even in your "weekends guide to sport" where all the minor sports are mentioned. but a half a page of yesterday's stage of the T'dF. i suppose for a sportswriter its easier to paste and copy than to get your ass out to a world championship happening right on your doorstep. whoever is responsible for promoting this event should hang their heads in shame.
  11. Whoever is responsible for media coverage at Treble (the organisers) should be fired. there has been no coverage in the sports pages of the Argus other than a small paragraph in Friday's edition. the only other coverage has been an article in the general section of the paper and this basically addressed the event and how much it would mean to CT in economic terms. there has been no reports of the previous nights racing other than two photos. the TT takes place tomorrow and the RR on Sunday, lets see what the Argus can come up with.
  12. what are the benefits of a Compact crank?
  13. GL are boland having winter races???
  14. i believe, the area belongs to a private individual and he almost closed it down when this type of thing became a regular occurance a few years ago. there are (were) signs prohibiting mbikes from riding there. Call Tygerberg Mtb Club they look after the area.
  15. enjoy the Belgium toothpaste
  16. Charles Potgieter Rockets Span bestaande uit; Garth Thomas' date='Chris Willemse jr,Abdelbasset Hannachi,Kenneth Ketterer en Jean Smith.[/quote'] Just a correction: It is the Charles Potgieter Bullets Team. And will soon be bolstered by Jan-Albert Laing. you guys must go to the world Cup
  17. I agree and with good reason. However I am not sure its a fair comparison' date=' mountain bikes have always been a sort of entry level bike, dont most cyclists start there and graduate onto either road or a higher end mountain bike?? I havent bought a bike for a while, but it used to be the norm. Never the less, the roads are becoming more of an issue than ever, although I guess you can fall just as hard on the gravel as the tar, it dos eliminate the traffic issue. [/quote'] and track is dead - now figure that out.
  18. let the youngsters play sport for fun, the results shouldn't count. they have just done a study in UK, there the youngsters are playing soccer on normal sized fields from u10 and in leagues whereas in europe they play five aside on small fields and they dont keep tally of the goals scored but encourage paricipation and keeping the ball. the uk have just realsied the reason why their international palyers are not comfortable on the ball as their european counterparts. wrt to cycling imho let the youngsters ride for fun from u10 to u14 ie no prize money, no SA jersey, no champs.they can start doing that from u16's. this imho wont be to their detriment. fast kids will always be fast kids.
  19. very good idea BUT why do you want celebs?????who would the general public take more seriously Bobby Skinstad on a bicycle or young Mr Kapp in a wheelchair. i could never take the "freedom fighters" who walked in front of the mass demostrations in the 80's seriously (Boesak and Co) because i knew that they were only there for their own publicity.
