  1. with or without hrm
  2. F'ing fantastic news.Spes Bona and Occultsdale tar them all. the mtb'ers can take their toys to meerendal, cont'kloof, hillcrest and magic. leave the tar roads to real men. good bi, i'm off
  3. best is to follow mtb signs on the tar, turn right and ride back towards r27, at the end, bear left onto the gravel, follow this to the 4 way intersection. turn left and follow the road ,even when it bears left. at the "house" on the right there is a grassed picnic area. going down to the beach is easy as it is downhill (keep straight at 4 way) but it will be difficult coming back up if yr kids are under 10 yrs old as it is very sandy. note , a single speed bmx like bike won't work.
  4. The PPA session is also at Killarney Race Track at 6.00pm. check their website for details as to when they are starting. i heard 18th August. wrt a club, try wannabees cycling club (where did they get that name?) in Somerset West.
  5. the PPA Tuesday nite session will suit you better. this should be starting soon. where in CT are you. there are plenty of friendly cycling clubs in CT northern and milnerton areas that'll ease you into the bunch.
  6. i think they make their money from the Cycle Tour and all the annual events that organisers put on.
  7. its about time that ppa elect a committee that can point it in the right direction in terms of what it really stands for other than the overstated "promote all forms of cycling" is it a club? is it a province? are they in existence for the recreational cyclists? are they in existence for racing cyclists? at the moment they are trying too hard to cover all aspects of cycling and are losing focus on the most important area ie safety for the recreational cyclist.
  8. what i would like to know: what did he take the night after he lost a lot of time on the stage and then recovered the next day to regain the time lost. from what i understand of PED's is that the effect is seen over a period of time and you still need to train hard. it doesn't enable you to recover like he did, so he must of taken something which was out of the norm with his doping program.
  9. the same anal complaints just a different year.
  10. you can even volunteer your services to PPA to serve on their committee now , they are desperate for help.
  11. why didn't you go?
  12. crowd support always used to be the best on Suikerbossie prior to the "detour" , i remember the crowds being all the way to the top. after the 2 years of the detour, crowds there seem to be thinner but with more people on small suikerbossie where a few restaraunts have sprung up. also noticed a much larger crowd at the "kink" in the run in to the finish.
  13. m met/supersport were even worse, all they had was darren scott and that other plonker who hosts the soccer running around suikerbossie acting like a comedians, throw in Arnie and the circus was complete. anything, even sabc is better than what we previously had.i if i remember correctly they only had the elite race live.
  14. fruit cake
  15. what irritates me the most is that polar sc recommends this mode of delivery. the 1st time i used the counter to counter services there wasn't a problem. i know it sounds naive but to me counter to counter sounds as if there is no human intervention in the process, so how can the item be "stolen" (i should of known better). can't wait for the outcome of the "investigation".
  16. sent my polar hrm and strap to polar service centre for a battery change and service. this was the 2nd time i would send it away and confirmed with polar that speed services - counter to counter - via the post office is the prefered way of sending the parcel. the hrm never arrived. i have the P.O investigating but have made peace with myself that its been stolen. has anyone else had this experience?
  17. luke , what club do you ride for? ppa isn't a club, so who issued your license???
  18. Marks Bicycle Workshop in Bellville can't be beaten for service, emergency fixes and price.
  19. nothing better than a smooth bit of tar, speed and a bunch of friends. if you are scared of the traffic join a club and ride with them. have done my fair share of mtb'ing, too far to drive to a mtb track and too dangerous to ride on your own.

  21. why do you say that?
  22. contact a tri-athlon club and ask them to do a survey amongst their members.
  23. with all due respect to the lemmer boeties, the max amount of time they have spent on any "project" is ?2 years. trace back their cv - csa , maties cc......
  24. it was only a matter of time
