  1. We have been using fusion 360......I need a mouse. Had a part fall off my wifes car, plastic cover. Ended up buying a nice 3D printer and printing the item for just over the imported cost of the part...only took 10 prototypes I saw someone saying ABS, if you haven't used it yet try printing in PETG its easy to get right and you don't need to heat the printing environment.
  2. Hi Mine also decided to stop working except it tried to convince me i was MvdP before it let go. I got hold of 4iiii through their website and they were great in helping me get a replacement. Good luck 4iiii | Next-level Powermeter and heart rate innovation
  3. So my experience is with a mtb, but when i have had this issue its because I've put a new chain on a worn cassette. if that is the case i don't think there is a solve except to put the old chain back and ride it till it breaks....or get a new cassette. Hope this helps
  4. We have also avoided it for about a year and a bit now. We take a similar route but ride through saints to avoid William Nicol. Used to love that section. If you go up to Emmerentia that section below the dam wall is also not safe during the week especially that little wooden bridge by the split to go to Alberts or Emmerentia. A guy in our group had an incident there.
  5. So sorry to hear this, glad you ok. was this in Emmerentia?
  6. Hi From the Spruit Cafe to Emmerentia and Alberts farm is in good condition and busy on weekend mornings so i guess safety in numbers....i wouldn't ride it alone during the week. The worst section during the week is the bit just before Emmerentia, there have been many incidents there. The bit from spruit cafe back to Sandton is a gamble, we haven't ridden it in ages either because it got too dodgy, over grown or we had to ride through so much sewage we just gave up. That said the part from Riverside scouts to 12th avenue is still 100%. We skip the dodgy section by going from spruit cafe by road through saints and joining again at the scouts hall. enjoy
  7. Hi They in Joburg but maybe they know of someone in Cape Town. I had my Direto fixed and serviced by them and was happy with the work...been fine for at least 18 months. Home - Bicycle Doctor Good luck
  8. Hi I have had stanchion wear from the foam oil ring folding over when the fork was rebuilt....only noticed it when the damage was visible. That said i have had two forks where there is/was stanchion wear, the way I prevented further wear was to clean after every ride and change oil in the lowers at least twice a year, i did this by learning how to do it myself. I have found that the wear doesn't cause any reduced performance until its really really bad and you can feel the lowers have play and tend to chatter as you ride. At this point you can just get them replaced along with the bushings. look at ND TUNED STANCHIONS. i think there might be a couple shops installing these now. good luck
  9. Hi IMO the best thing you can do is send it to Bike Market and get a price that way. Its a great starting point and you might even be happy with their offer. Marc
  10. I got a 32mm spanner and just make sure its flat when loosening and tightening the nut but the socket and drill to sand it down is a good idea. You can get Sram butter (alternative to slick honey) and Fox oil from Solomons Cycles and a number of others also sell it. I've never needed the lower removal tool, socket on the nut and rubber mallet has worked for me. What is very useful is a seal installing tool.
  11. Scott spark rc900 wc - 10.9 with pedals Pyga Stage - 12.4 with pedals, I'm running an MRP stage fork which is amazing for the downs but a bit heavy. Could be sub 12 if I was running a Fox 32/34 SC.
  12. I got their weekly marketing mail on Wednesday.....so they still marketing
  13. That looks amazing well done. Your question on binging it into the modern age, I would try a 120mm fork (drop the stem a bit after that increase in height) and maybe some wider rims and a wider tire in the front (looks like a 2.2ish) One of the people in our group has the same bike and when he upgraded to carbon wheels he said it was like a new bike with a massive improvement, not sure that meets your trail riding requirement but something else to consider. Good Luck
  14. I hope he heals well For those that have never seen it, look at the Garmin radar, helps you know when a car is coming up behind you. Its worth it.
  15. What has your heart rate on the bike done?
  16. maybe just upgrade the handle bar
  17. Do you mean the top cover that has an angled down section at the back? On my spark (2018) the spacers, stem and top cap all go together, maybe even the headset bearing cover. If i wanted to put another type of stem and handle bar i would need to change the other items as well. When I upgraded I stuck with the Syncros stuff and it worked just fine. Hope this helps.
  18. What worked for me was adding arch support after the original one had compressed and not tightening my shoes too much, I found I did this when I had thick socks on. not sure why they helped but they have for me.
  19. Hi I see you in the Jhb Pta area, if you looking at second hand go look at bike market and at least then you have some peace of mind on your purchase. The fact that you can fix carbon is a big plus for me. I have seen failure on all material types with the worst being on an Aluminum frame...... Good luck Marc
  20. I've upgraded from 11s and run 12s for over 3 or 4 years and i haven't had any of the issues you have spoken about. I do run XT with a sunrace (the one that weighs a lot) cassette. if anything the only complaint i have is that in one gear i sometimes have to help it along when shifting up, but the drive train has seen a very muddy W2W and has lasted another 7.5K km post that so i really can't complain. if you do go 11s then get the set up that is designed for a 50T in the rear, the older stuff can do it but you have to run the b setting so far from the cassette that shifting in the smaller gears as the chain wears is a problem.
  21. any reason you not considering going to 1x12? deore 1x12 with a sunrace cassette is not that much more than 1x11 with the 11 - 50 range.
  22. My rule of thumb which has worked out in various hobbies is start with the new price and halve it, this is mostly on items that are 3 years + old. Then adjust for age, quality, brand etc etc.
  23. This entire thing just shows me how the world has gone a bit mad. The work Jozi Trails has done has: 1) Made all the trails better for cyclists, runners and walkers 2) Have made the trails safer and they have helped directly when people have had an incident (they helped us when one person in our group was bike jacked) 3) By doing this the small number of restaurants and coffee shops have grown and created jobs thus helping the economy. I'm sure there are more positives to mention and there are also negatives i.e. the trails are busier and the sand is very identifiable; but on the whole its a net positive. So to the title of this thread, besides filling out the survey (https://forms.gle/uQZeaRL9XB6wCnxC9) what else can we do? Who has some ideas? We could all donate money to get it fixed that way ensuring the Jozi Trails remains operational, @jozitrails how much would you need?
  24. hey Is the hub tight? i.e. the wheel can't move from left to right? i'm thinking maybe you braked in a corner and the wheel pushed to one side and that placed some sideways load on the disk which then sheered off.
  25. Agree, ridden there many times and its stunning. Proper mountain biking.
