  1. 44-32 and an 11-32 cassette.
  2. I've used a 10 speed chain on my 9 speed setup, works fine. I also have it configured as 18 speed with a normal front der and normal 3 speed shifter, its all in the settings. *edit : dont think you can use a 9 speed chain on a 10 speed cassette as it will be too wide, but it should last the same amount of time anyway.mtb_Josh2010-06-03 09:22:38
  3. Nice. Do you mind me asking what that sells for?
  4. wow, I dont even remember what I got for my 16th...and I'm 19 now...thats how unimpressive it must have been Not complaining tho!
  5. I honestly dont see a problem with a potential buyer asking a seller for weight. Its one of the biggest selling points on most components and if the seller isn't wiling to go to the effort of putting the item on a kitchen scale, then do they really want to sell it that badly? Personally, I've found that weight makes quite a big difference. I started with an entry level 15kg+ bike and then upgraded to a 11.5kg bike which I now have at 10.4 and believe me, the difference is huge! (no, I promise you its not all in my head) I will continue to ask the weight of components when I want to buy something from a hubber!
  6. Na, Its not the bead thats leaking, its the sidewalls. The tyre on the rim with the stans strip is leaking more than the other one.
  7. I sorted my wheels out today - I put the rim strip in the front and an old valve + insulation tape in the back. It was quite a mission to seal the back tyre but once it was on it was fine. Only problem now is that the sidewalls are leaking quite a bit of air (right next to the beading) ... I thought the tyres would be fine as they have been used as tubeless before, but obviously not...
  8. Wow, you are definitely not normal! That leg is weird!
  9. If it was a vein then it wouldnt have squirted, and by the look of your 'paint' job there was a decent amount of quirting going on! There is basically no fat in that region anyway, so unless you are very strange and have superficial arteries, that stone went DEEP!
  10. Wow, thats crazy! I'm a bit interested in the anatomy here (cause I'm studying it right now ) Did the doc say what artery it hit? The only artery that I can think of is the anterior tibial artery, but thats behind 2 muscles! Was it that deep?!!!
  11. I weigh 70kg and I ride an old set of american classics. They're probably around 5 years old. I train and race on them and I'm quite rough on them. They are both true and the only problem I had is the rear went a bit oval, but that was easily fixed. Good wheels
  12. http://www.justf**kinggoogleit.com/. wow, fantastic attitude You think I haven't done that already? Not all sites show up on google.
  13. If anybody finds sites please post the links here. Doesnt matter if they ship to SA or not.
  14. Looking for bike stuff - cant afford electronic stuff as well (got my priorities straight )
  15. Are there any websites that you know of that I can look at?
  16. ok, maybe I'm seeing the problem here: The diameter you are talking about is from the rim toward the hub and then to the rim on the opposite side of the wheel right? I thought we were talking about the diameter between the beading (if that makes any sense) So how on earth is that tiny increase in diameter of any crucial advantage when using a rim strip? If that tiny bit makes a difference, then guys on 29ers would be riding away from everyone else by miles!
  17. After putting a tube in that is...
  18. wow, ok. I still dont understand the diameter thing, unless we're talking about 2 different diameters. But anyway, thanks for the advice, I'm going to do the tape and valve thing, If it fails then I'll fall, dust myself off and get back on my bike.
  19. JB - here is my logic- please tell me where I'm going wrong? (Please excuse the bad drawing!) Black = rim Blue = tyre Red = Rim strip Surely the pic on the left has a smaller inside diameter than the one on the right?
  20. ? The rim is a circle. If you add a layer to the outside of a cricle' date=' you increase its diameter. ?[/quote'] I feel like I'm probably being stupid here, but this still doesnt make sense to me? The rim strip goes on the inside.... Therefore smaller diameter on the inside?
  21. wow, that quote didnt go well...
