  1. I usually take mine to the garage to do, its never failed, even with non-tubeless rims with non-ust racing ralphs with only a tape conversion on the wheels but I've also succeeded at home with a floor pump with ust tyres. A very handy trick is the soap suds. I usually put a small amount of sunlight and water in a energade bottle and shake it so it fills with foam, I then pop open the cap, hold the bottle upright and squeeze a bit of foam out onto the bead of the tyre.
  2. I promise you its possible to ride with water only
  3. cool, thanks guys. I'll try sort it out when I'm feeling energetic
  4. So I just noticed that I have a cut in my crossmark lust tyre. Its about 1cm long and its just next to the centre line of knobblies. It isn't leaking air yet, although it looks quite deep. Any advice on how to repair it? Patch from the inside? sew it? with what? Thanks for your help
  5. Red sounds like more fun... although red bibshorts reminds me of a photo of a pro cycle team that has been posted on the hub before (I think it was swiss or something) - its not a pretty sight
  6. The bent one was almost exatly half the length of the chain away from the quick link, so I guess its possible that it jammed, although I wasn't shifting when it happened and my gears were tuned perfectly... 10 speed groupo, I'm not sure if it was gold or silver, bought the bike 2nd hand a month or 2 ago, but it was definitley sram. I have previously used a 9 speed (gold) quick link on a 10 speed sram chain on my 9 speed mtb setup for the entire life of the chain with no issues at all... Also had to fix my chain with a gold link yesterday and I still got home ok..
  7. If only I was freewheeling! I was standing in a big gear trying to get to the next robot while it was still green, so I totally lost control when it happened. I'd already picked out a spot on the side of the road to throw myself at to avoid the cars on the road luckily I recovered enough though... I know they make the quick link weaker than the rest, but for it to just give way while I wasn't even shifting?? Thats just not cool.
  8. So I went for a quick road ride this afternoon to klapperkop and home. On my way home, doing about 45km/h (and pushing quite hard) down lynnwood, my chain decided to snap and go wild on the back of my bike. It almost sent me sprawling across the road and eventually locked up my back wheel and brought me to a stop. The funny thing is - it seems as if it was caused by the quick link breaking or coming apart or something as the quick link was nowhere to be found. One of the links was twisted 90 degrees to the rest of the chain, but I think that happened after the 1st break. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Oh, and thanks to the woman who stopped to offer me a lift (I should've taken it in hindsight!)
  9. I dont want to cause a fight, and I understand why cyclists can be irritating... but just go around them dude - There is no oncoming traffic whatsoever.
  10. cool, thanks I'll try that. I just need to make sure I dont lose all my files...
  11. I use sports tracker on my nokia 5230, its quite cool and I dont connect to the internet so it doesnt use any airtime one problem tho - its giving me a message that my licence expires in 15 day and I must download an updated version. Only problem is that the nokia website says I have it already and wont let me download it again?
  12. I had problems fitting crank brothers cleats to my sidis - the bolts were waaay too long. I ended up just using a bench grinder
  13. well I can say you have a solid wheelset there. I have the same ones for training and haven't managed to do any damage whatsoever so far, and I've hit them HARD a few times. What shifters and deraillures does it have?

  15. I usually only use water, but I take an energy bar for longer rides.
  16. I cracked a hardtail orbea frame a couple of months ago. Luckily I saw it before it snapped clean off though. Mine cracked on the chainstay next to a weld as well. Dodgy welding by orbea?? I was unfortunate enough to be the 2nd owner of the frame tho, so no warranty claim for me ...just a really big desk ornament in my room now.
  17. Its worth double my car!
  18. Dammit! I NEED cheap bibs
  19. I've never serviced a coil fork, but my air fork doesn't use any grease, only fork oil. Buy it from a motorbike shop - MUCH cheaper. Just find out what weight and volume you need for your fork.
  20. Theres a uvongo mtb park???? Damit! I just came home from uvongo today and I had the bike with me But now I have sworn to never take my bike down there again after the amount of rust I picked up in 2 weeks.
