  1. looks awesome, I just dont like the badge on the grill. It must either be chrome, like the SLS, or nothing at all.
  2. I also didn't like Giant very much and then bought an XTC frame because I broke my previous Orbea frame and the XTC was a good deal. I was pleasantly surprised by the frame. Very stiff and light for alu. Nice geometry as well. I love it!
  3. ok, sorry, rather listen to JB, he knows his stuff.
  4. Its possible that it damaged the tape, but it might have just pushed it away to the side so that the seal is broken. The rimstrips dont seal nicely if everything isn't 100% straight.
  5. try straighten it yourself. Use a pliers/ vice grips and something to protect the rim from getting scratched. I had a couple of minor dents in my AC rims (didnt leak air tho) and I just straightened them out with a mallet
  6. R52 000!? You must drive a really expensive car, or that wheel must have been going reaaaaly fast...
  7. That will just be awesome. Been sick like 6 times this year already...
  8. I dont think its that... All I did last week was play a game of squash on monday and took a very chilled 20km ride on friday afternoon.
  9. *Hijack on* I've got a related question for anybody that can answer: I'm usually a high HR rider and push myself hard. I almost always hit 200 bmp on my training rides. My problem is I went for a ride on saturday and couldn't get my HR past 180. I attacked the climbs until I could hardly pedal anymore, legs totally exhausted, but still low HR. Whats going on here??? (I did eat and hydrate while I was riding, and this was for the entire duration of a 70km mtb ride)
  10. I need a spare liver. any on offer?
  11. I had a problem with SAS registering me as having ridden a race (and not finished) when I didn't enter. I sent them a mail about it and it was fixed within 3 days.
  12. It could be a correct reading. I'm 20 years old (and 2 days ). I dont get any interference on my Sigma HRM (if there are any powerlines it just drops the signal entirely), and I've hit 210 bpm. My average for the last race was 183bpm. Dont know what my RHR is at the moment, but I never have a low RHR even when I'm super fit
  13. My bladder is never empty when I wake up
  14. Ok, firstly - the treks in the price range are women specific, so those are out. That pretty much leaves the Wheeler and Fuji. The fuji looks pretty decent, not the greatest fork, but for 5k its acceptable. Cant find specs on the wheeler, but it looks to me like an slx rd, which means its probably quite similar in spec to the fuji. Personally, I like the fuji though.
  15. What are your options? Post some links here and we'll have a look (too lazy to wade thru all the adverts )
  16. also -is it a shock or a fork (some people call a fork a shock, so just checking )
  17. If you're going to do that then you may as well just stick the whole cassette on and have a gear for any gradient
  18. Get the SID and I'll swap you my reba for it
  19. I think they look awesome. would love a pair on my bike - would look great with my white frame, just dont have the $ so, if you get them and think they look cheesy, you can always pass them on to me
  20. I might be keen. I sometimes ride with weight weenie out in pta east, so he might be keen as well. I wont be able to ride this week though, and I'm not sure about next week yet, but I'll let you know.
  21. looks eina! Isn't it a ligament rather than a tendon? Tendon joins muscle to bone, ligament joins bone to bone?
  22. Not if the chain hasn't been changed. A worn chain will screw up a drivetrain very quickly. If the chain was changed every time it showed signs of wear, then 5000km is feasible for cassette and chainrings. Having said that, it seems the chain is still fine in this case - so I'm confused
  23. Yip, right formula! ( I was just too lazy to explain ) I dont think its possible that you've done 2800km on a single chain and only worn 0.2mm !? I think a lot of brand new chains might show that kind of measurement. Was the chain taught when you measured? I usually try do mine on the bike, or by hanging it vertically on something (a nail in the wall works well) Chainring slipping definitely sounds like chainring wear, but it all depends on the wear on the chain. If the chain is only worn 2mm, then its probably not the chainring wear. Is the front der tuned properly or does it rub against the chain when it was in the position that it slipped at?
