  1. wow, thats not good. I would be really upset and would probably be throwing my toys at this point. Don't roll over, keep at them as you are in the right. I was considering starting using singletrack as my LBS as I think they offer better service than the other shop I use, but now I'm not so sure...
  2. Eish. That sucks man!
  3. 1. Any brakeset will do but some are better than others. remember that you also need the rotors. 2. You need a new wheelset that is disk compatible 3. IF your shifters and brake levers are one unit at the moment you will need new shifters. If they are separate units then the shifters can stay.
  4. I've got the same problem and wasnt keen on spending so much money on a new stans strip, so I cut a valve out of an old tube and used insulation tape on my rim to seal the spoke holes. It works better than my wheel that still has a stans strip in it!
  5. I've got 2 bikes: 1 is an 8 speed with alivio and acera components. My newer bike is 9 speed X0 all round. Obviously the X0 is a bit nicer BUT I dont even notice the difference between 8 and 9 speed gearing. Also the shifting with acera/alivio is really not that much worse than X0 if its tuned properly. Stick with 8 speed until you wear your cassette out. All you will need to change in any case is the cassette, shifters and chain. FD and crankset will be fine.
  6. Ouch. Not nice.
  7. Any 10 speed chain
  8. Ah! Please dont start another thread on this!
  9. I got chased by one on saturday, luckily I saw it coming though so I stood up on the pedals and he decided I was too fast for him
  10. oh my goodness! 3 dales! Nevermind the AMAZING weights! I almost fell off my chair!
  11. Oh come on! That weight is just ridiculous! (and they're incredibly sexy) now I just need to rob a bank. any ideas?
  12. I've used sewing machine oil before. I ran out of lube and I use sewing machine oil for my paintball marker, so I thought I'd try a bit on my chain. Worked quite well actually!
  13. From the research I did when it happened to mine, I learnt that it happens here due to the stress that the welding process puts on the aluminium in this area.
  14. Sorry mate, but it looks like it could be a crack. Its in the perfect place for a crack as well. I recently cracked my frame in the exact same place. At 1st I thought it might just be paint so I scratched a bit of paint off with a knife and there was a faint line visible in the aluminium. After another few rides I could feel the crack with my finger. So sadly I had to strip the bike down to transfer the parts and when I had the frame separate I could see that it was more than a crack - the chainstay is broken half way through...
  15. me? I posted a list of most of the parts one page back. I can give you the exact weights of most of the stuff if you want?
  16. This look quick! Nice work! Thanks! Well, If I cant be quick I can at least look quick!
  17. No thanks, don't want my eye SCRATCHED by any of those frames wouldnt mind riding one tho!
  18. ja, white amc wheels is on the wishlist (but not possible for a verrry long time) Post is 156g, losing the small ring doesn't save that much weight hey. the eggbeaters only saved me about 70g over my old rubbish pedals, but they are SOOO much nicer!
  19. Ja, I think so. The tyres are about 500g each, the front wheel has a stans strip which is 100g and the back wheel just has insulation tape and a valve. I'm not too sure about the brakes as I've never weighed them, but I dont think they are all that light...
  20. giant xtc zero frame - didnt have a chance to weigh it, but its about 1.5ish american classic wheelset - 1.6ish reba team fork kcnc ti pro lite seatpost velo pronto saddle - 200g (I want a white saddle now!) ravx carbon cages ravx carbon wrap stem (not so light!) Guizzo carbon bar esi grips X0 rd X9 fd X0 grip shifters avid juicy carbon brakes old truvative stylo cranks xt cassette racing ralph evo tyres I think thats all the important stuff?
  21. So I broke my old frame, wore out a chainring, tyres and pedals and needed a new seatpost for the frame. This is what I ended up with: It weighs 10.3kg at the moment... not bad for an aluminium bike with a reba fork!mtb_Josh2010-06-06 09:05:11
  22. I've had a pair of darcs scanners for 7 years and they are still my favorite!
  23. wouldn't want to see the graph for my 32-44 and 11-32 setup!
