  1. Can't wait to see the < 70kg noodle cyclists hitting the brick wall in Westlake to Smits. Maybe a day for us beefy riders to shine!
  2. Been dodging this thread for months. After Tour de PPA things quickly went downhill. Sore throat, fatigue, frog in the throat, falling asleep.. almost(at work), constant drowsiness. Welcome to flu bru!!! Hope to be well recovered for CTCT
  3. VERY hard to find in SA. There's a good chance that I have one in my spares box. Will check tonight. FYI: USE cycling products has a range of shims. Unfortunately not so easy to source from your LBS/Wholsesalers.
  4. Is ASG at the expo. Need new lining for my Zuma.
  5. Legs were only "available" up until the 50km mark. Decided to "convert" the rest of the route into a LSD training ride after being dropped by CAT 3....... and almost every bunch afterwards. Popped in at every waterpoint to "asses" the quality of services available. Stopped for any cyclist with a mechanical to offer my MBS (mobile breakdown service). (Provided the breakdown was close to some shade) Officially the toughest day on a bike.... by far. At least we alive to fight another day!
  6. Where is the rest!
  7. that's like owning a white limited edition chico golf, 1.3. (1 of 10 000 000 000 000)
  8. What I’ve heard enough of: Stiffer Responsive Vertically more compliant Reduced drag And I still want to see how a bike climbs. Sometimes it sounds like you just have to sit, relax and the bike will get you to the top, no sweat!
  9. Dis mos Genis se bike van kooperasie stories. LOL
  10. is jy seker sy het nie net gehakkel nie? en die meisietjie is to paddoppetjies

  13. Ok guys, here goes my story. Episode 1 27 Oct - had a good strong race. Very happy with my achievement!! 29th Oct - woke up with sever body aches. Thought I was just tired from training/racing, went to work where things got progressively worse. Ended up going to the GP and was diagnosed with a middle ear infection. 10 days antibiotics, no training (per Dr’s orders) Episode 2 7th Nov (Wednesday) – Went out for a 1hr light spin and felt ok. 9th Nov (Friday) – 2hr ride, felt a bit tired but nothing to worry about. Heart Rate was fine, no spikes. 11th Nov (Sun) – Went out for a “DC simulation” ride from S.Suburbs to Bainskloof. Could only do +- 4 hrs, legs were finished! Came home in “support vehicle”. Episode 3 12th Nov (Mon) – Felt OK, I’d say 85% of myself. 13th Nov (Tuesday) – And THEN the wheels came off completely. Felt like I scrummed against “The Beast”. Legs, arms and shoulders aching. Low energy levels with even lower spirit. 15th Nov – decided to go to ENT to check out the ears again as condition didn’t improve much over the 2 days. Ears were all clear. Dr suspects viral infection that has been bugging me. Sent blood sample off for testing anyway. (Awaiting results). 16th Nov – Decided to have light 30 min spin on the IDT. Legs felt like jelly….. though heart rate stayed low. So. Has anyone experienced this before. It seems like there are bugs dragging my system down. And now I’m in danger of missing out on the DC.
  14. Finished with WHITE helmet straps. (always thought they black) hahaa! Or maybe because Cape Town Giants decided to heat up things in K. "Outriders" train was empressive. Unhooked on the 10km turn and just couldn't close the gap, fought into the wind until eyes felt like popping. Heard a pop, looked for puncture, and soon realise it was a lung. GREAT FUN!
  15. Agree fully. In all other sports you let your best, and in-form player do the job. Have you ever seen a rugby team appoint their 2nd best kicker as a first choice just because it was decided during the pre-season? BW should be man enough to say that he should play 2nd fiddle. K@k sportsmanship on his part. But then again, the British will do anything to say that a Brit on a British team won. And it seemed that Froome could have dropped BW again and again on those mountain stages. I think the TDF is too structured and organised and those buggers in the cars have way too much power!
  16. I used Cadence Energy (Banana Flavour) for the first time on the Cobra. It mixes much better than some of the other stuff I tried before. More milky iso the powdery texture of most other drinks. If you get my drift. Did not complete cause stopped to help buddy that was unvolved in that infamous crash. So whether it can get me through endured sufferring remains to be seen.
  17. he was airlifted, quite serious. My buddy was also involved. Looks like broken elbow, maybe ankle too. Third guy a few roasties, but ok. Just heard buddy escaped without any broken bones or joints. Hub name Meezo, other 2 riders were on blue Raleighs, i think RC3000 and RC 7000... For what its worth...
  18. I'm running 7800 shifters & FD, 7900 crank, Ultegra RD & chain, 105 Cassette other than pap legs.......NO problems!
  19. Ask team sky! Dogma with DA... and I think they slightly better than most of us on the hub!
  20. Hi Rob K Really worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can be boring, but get some good music or movie to watch while spinning. If you have a busy family life then the trainer is ideal for the times you really can't get out for a ride. I got me a 2nd hand basic one and it does the job just fine. If you stay in Cape Town then you would rather battle the trainer than take on the south easter. Cheers
  21. The more I ride, the more I eat :. the more I weigh. Lets say, big muscled and can put on more muscle mass at will. Will never be a pure climber. A Cavendish type of body, without the speed.
  22. 1.72m, 76kg (for 2 years now), and finding it impossible to get to 72kg.
  23. "My only issue is that if guys are seeded in a group that is far more 'advanced' than what their capabilities are and become a hazard to groups behind them, they could cause a crash by their inexperience or lack of time in the saddle doing group rides." Now we getting somewhere. Well done Sir...K
  24. Duckworth–Lewis sucks, Most of all, my employee review scoring system sucks. PPA is just maintaining international rating and scoring standard. If this guy cheated, then he will feel it when he rides where he is not supposed to be. Why don't we forward submission to let him ride with the elites next season. Maybe then he will consider playing golf. Oh, yes, the handicap system is just as confusing.
