  1. Now thats a good left hook... Crux/ Spidey can you counter with an upper-cut
  2. I guess that no-one dares go there??
  3. On the topic of holding up the traffic. I was cycling past the Cp Pt gate yesterday and there were two idiots holding up traffic. For those of you that know the Smits & Cp Pt gate bit the queue was all the way from before the bend of the Smits climb to about 300m past the gate & hawkers. These inconsiderate f**king baboons were HAVING SEX in the middle of the road and weren't moving for anyone. How inconsiderate is that!!!! I'm surprised someone hasn't posted a complaint about them too.
  4. Go as hard as you can go for 1hr per day (excluding warm up) every second day during the week with longer rides on the weekend. Even when you get a "unit" that is probably what you should do until you get to the point where you feel you need a coach. The Garmin is nice but why not go for the CS400 or CS200?
  5. if we are talking 'bout the same dude - lives in the southern sub' now?
  6. big chainring, big cog little chainring, little cog
  7. I am assuming that you are not "cross chaining". The clicking is from the chain rubbing against the adjacent cog. A fraction more and the click will turn into a "grab" and the chain will hop over and back between the gears. As it's only the "tallest and shortest" gears its probably the limit screws that are set a tad to severe. But unless you know what you are doing (or take the time to work out which screw affects which cog) you might cause the chain to become jammed between the cluster and frame (nasty scratches & a jam) or worse let the derailleur get shoved into the spokes. Do some reading on the internet before you touch!! If it is Shimano stuff then go to shimano.com.au where they have all the tech info which contain detailed instructions on how to set it up. 8. was quite involved and seemed pretty committed at our meeting on Thursday night
  9. We'll be making a team effort in the vets too, and although some of the guys are pretty strong I'm not sure that we'll have as much success as the sub-vets. But you never know - at least we will be riding as a team. We also have a bunch of Masters that I am positive would dominate if they would decide to get interested.
  10. Nope this is no tall story. Gary Marescia, Billy Stelling, Conway ??? (ex-Aruma I believe). And there is one or two other guys who I don't know by name. They also have a decent number of domestiques who all could get a placing on their day with some luck. So for the first time in a couple of years you'll see a proper Cyclelab team effort.
  11. Ja ... shame. At least they are on decent bikes.
  12. CarbonBoy, I did a Google on Bicycle wheel balancing and found nothing which overtly supports your experience - that balancing a bicycle wheel the way you describe has a profound impact. Here is the best info that I have found. I haven't been able to digest it all yet - work time. If I'm not mistaken Jobst Brandt is a world leading expert on bicycle wheels. Or at least he makes his money from it. If there were significant benefits associated with bicycle wheel balancing then I guess that he would be at the forefront of perfecting the "art". http://yarchive.net/bike/wheel_balancing.html
  13. I stopped using the spare wheel hangar because I noticed a lot of creaking from the rear door with the bikes on. Remember all that extra weight is hanging on the door hinges (in my case anyway). The spare wheels aren't exactly light themselves.
  14. Don't waste your money. Buy the real thing - https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=20696 You can use it on the road and on your plain IDT. Otherwise the Tacx is ok.
  15. That's cause it's easier to play the man rather than the ball ...Windbreaker2008-01-08 10:31:41
  16. http://www.cerevellum.com/ The good news is that it will be compatible with power meters, hrm's etc. Already some software on my Nokia makes the std power meter & hrm cpu look very ordinaryWindbreaker2008-01-08 09:41:16
  17. so that's what the new TCS kit looks like?
  18. No, none of the software stuff above is related to your problem (I guess) but if you did the default thing using the buttons see how it goes. If it is still there then download using Poweragent and see if that data is ok (as per Michelle) if it is visible in Poweragent then I'd say send you CPU to Adrian (or call him first)
  19. That's an older version of poweragent but I think that is the one - "Auto zero" No, don't uncheck it. p.s. Build 86 of CP released today Windbreaker2008-01-03 12:39:08
  20. Ja, you can set it to auto-zero then you don't have to do it regularly. I still check every now and then but it zeroes itself when it works out that you are moving at speed (but coasting) and any slight torque must be an offset so it zeros it. Set it through the Poweragent software. But you should reset the CPU first. Hold down both buttons until the SET Edt 1234 is displayed. Press the right button until the d (default) flashes Press the left button once Press the right button once Press the left button again It should go back to the main screen with everything defaulted. Once or twice I was getting rubbish data and funnies. After defaulting it came right. You will have to configure anything you want different from default. I always use the Poweragent software to configure the CPU. edit: The setting is a check box labeled "Automatically adjust torque offset" Windbreaker2008-01-03 12:02:58
  21. From your graph it only seems to happen when you are not pedalling and on the IDT you probably don't coast. Doesn't the CPU try the auto-zero during coasting? My guess is that it is the CPU at fault. Have you reset it? Is it displaying the correct time of day?
  22. I'm interested ... did you work out what was causing this?
  23. After reading all of this I have my 2c worth! CWC knows how to work the "bleeding heart" system and "no publicity is bad publicity". Personally, I think that his original posting is in bad taste. Unless he was making specific statements about specific issues then he is using this forum to pursue his own agenda and the distributors have the right to respond. I think that he is going to have a problem convincing the competition board that the "distributors" are being anti-competitive. His own actions of bypassing them (when it suits him) prove the point. As Brandon Els states everyone has the right to do business with whom they wish. They are excersizing the same right that he is excersizing. All you guys taking Els to task for his posting about the 60-90 days you seem to have missed the point that CWC started the fight. As for the Cartel thing (had CWC named them he would have my vote as the shining knight) if it exists then it should be pursued but it sounds to me a little bit like "he wants his cake and eat it too". "I'll bypass you when it suits me but when I want to buy from you you must sell to me and I want it on terms like everyone else". Get real! I think that we need a thread on this forum that publishes the pricing from all the major LBS as well as the online shops compared with a few of the overseas online shops. That will soon expose where all the "loot" is being hidden. I shop around for the best service and usually price is secondary except where it is over the top.
  24. Lemme guess - using it without the hub? Never done that myself.
