  3. Shimano make *** fishing reels ...
  4. Merckx was "gifted" his wins ...
  5. No! Don't tell me! I've just bought a box of 500! Anyone want fashionable nose strips??
  6. Ok Bruce..you win. Now if all you smart people will excuse me' date=' I must get on the bike![/quote'] No, go to the gym!
  7. The PowerMeters that Hunter Allen was comparing it to' date=' and found it "damn close to my other power meters." was actually SRM & PowerTap... not to bad for a flawed little thingy with too many variables to deal with... [/quote'] Like I said ... ask him for the comparative data then "damn close" will have some meaning. Compared to you I live "damn close" to Hermanus but that's still a long way for you - right? Lets see data. At this stage I remain sceptical, but I am quite happy to be wrong about this one. More "power" to the people!
  8. Yep, talking out of your arses again! I love it. Bikemax, go back and redo your CV!
  9. Bottom line - it has serious flaws. Too many variables to deal with. I'd be pleasantly surprised if the iBike turns out to be as accurate as the Polar even, in which case I'd hold out hope that Polar would be able to get theirs right too.
  10. Watched SC last night and was a bit surprised by the punt for the iBike power sensor. At R4,500 + R800 for the cadence sensor it is not that far off the real McCoy in terms of cost (PT for those not in the know ). I am very sceptical after my experience with the Polar - this has even more variables to a) measure accurately b) handle in the algorithms correctly Has anyone tried it? McClean reckons that he is using it with his SRM and the results are "quite good". He was careful not to state any figures though. He also said it a "thing of the future". Decoded, does that mean that it still doesn't work in the present?
  11. Merckx "bought" his wins ....
  12. I've even been told that beer is the culprit - in which case I'll live with the cramps.
  13. She told me she's never cramped in her life.... I haven't. I don't know what he's talking about... Sorry, I read all the postings and by memory thought that Sara posted the first one - It was bored girl .... OK??????
  14. colonel, next time just listen when I "marshal" you back over the white line ok??!!!
  15. I have cramped all of my life and have taken advice from many medical sources. I remember speeding down the N1 after the 99'er because I couldn't get my "seized" leg off the accelarator. Like Sara I have nightly "attacks". I've been in my wife's bad books occassionaly for literally booting her out of bed . Well almost. The bottom line is a) No-one really understands all the causes for cramping. In different people the causes are different - lack of certain minerals, de-hydration, fatigue etc. etc. b) Increased fitness levels does not neccesarilly reduce the regularity of cramps in certain individuals c) It is not proven that the supplements have ANY effect on reducing cramping. I perspire heavilly just thinking about excersize and it is very salty so I guess that my cramping is associated with dehydration and loss of minerals. My "solution" is a dose of coarse sea salt prior to the hard rides and lots of fluid (and more training). The slo-mag, cramp block, cramp stop, blah blah never did a thing!
  16. Not true. And most of them were quite talkative and pleasant despite their hectic schedules and the constant public attention (except Zabriskie who is on his own planet). Julich and a couple of the other guys even pushed some tannie on her brand new Cervelo up Boyes Drive. Sorry I tak it back then that is what I heard' date=' but stilll R15 000??? If someone wants to ride Motocross with me I dont charge them that!!![/quote'] The way I understand it is that if you paid R15k you had 3 days with the CSC team - Fri, Sat & Sun. Then on Monday (in CT anyway) those people who had bought a Cervelo bike recently got invited to ride with them for a couple of hours - free & gratis (3 groups in total). I guess that there were also a few slots open for people who had not bought a Cervelo recently. Then finally, someone responsible had to marshal each of the groups. I'm very responsible
  17. And yesterday they were all riding Fujis on loan from Cyclelab.
  18. Not true. And most of them were quite talkative and pleasant despite their hectic schedules and the constant public attention (except Zabriskie who is on his own planet). Julich and a couple of the other guys even pushed some tannie on her brand new Cervelo up Boyes Drive.
  19. I read it. There is one very serious discrepancy in his comparison of "ban gays, encamp moffies for cheap furniture" vs knock down cyclists. The first is obviously fantasy whilst the comment regarding the second is VERY close to the bone. How many "moffies" mothers do you know who are still dealing with the heartbreak of losing a son to this imaginary situation? I know of more than one mother who is still trying to come to terms with the latter. I know of situations where drugged up kids HAVE mowed down a group of cylists at 5:30 in the morning killing 2. "It was a game!" I know of a situation where an impatient "lady driver" decided not to wait for a 14 year old kid (who had the right of way) to pass. I have personally been accosted on my bicycle by a motorist because he perceived that I delayed him on his road!
