  1. Good morning all. I see Finish Time is recoding the race results. Does anyone know, do we have to have our own chip for this event. I have so many chips I get confused. If anyone can send a photo of what the chip looks like if needed, Kind  regards all.

  2. I've had excellent service feedback from Ciovita. After I ordered incorrect size garments from them in Capetown (my own fault), I took the items to their new shop in Broadacres, where they exchanged them for me, no hassle, no worries, quick and efficient service. Must give credit where credit due. Hope you come right with your replacement of damaged item, try via Broadacres near you, regards Derek

  3. I'm going to give it a go. Rain predicted in the Pretoria area for 2 of the days, but lets' see. Anyone in the Pretoria, Equestria area willing to join me is welcome. Going to use my road bike, steady easy rides.

  4. Yes, I've also been cycling for many years and its only common decency to greet your fellow warrior on the road. I greet every time, even if I don't get a reply, but if you carry on greeting usually , I found, in new areas I ride, you start a new trend and that's what its all about. Common guys at the end of the day, its our sport, lets be happy and enjoy the road and the company.

  5. Hi fellow cyclists,

I have recently moved up to Pretoria-  Equestria area from KZN , and i'm looking for an early morning group to start riding with, either road or mtb , although road is my personal preference. If anyone can assist please, i'm an average cyclist, been off the bike a while now due to the move and a very cold winter and need to get back into the sport again.

    regards

    Derek

  6. Good morning all,

just come back from a 3 hour ride. Hope you old -timers are all well. The only thing to keep us all sane is to ride the bike. Lucky to still be able to ride the bike and enjoy

    Regards

    Derek

  7. How well did it work before the lock down?

I have Ultegra on my road bike which does the same on the road and IDT, and for both the front and rear derailleurs. Move the levers repeatedly for a few seconds / minute and nothing happens (cables don't move) and then it suddenly starts to work normally again.

My Ultegra is old +/- 2005 but with new cables and cable housing, makes no difference.

I think its some little widget gear thingy in lever mechanism that is worn.

Time for a new bike  :whistling:

I would say you have slack in your gear cable, which quite often happens when bikes are placed in trainers.

Release the cable tension bolt on the front changer and see if you pull out any slack. This should be done while gears/chain is  in the small chain ring and the gear shift lever has not been operated or tensioned to go up to top chainring. Let us know outcome please

  8. I have ridden Gator's  for a long time now, with no issues. Just be careful your brake blocks have not moved out of alignment with the rim. A buddy of mine blamed walls of Gator skins and went through a costly exercise of replacing 5 tyres before finding out a brake block had shifted and he was braking on the tyre wall causing a blow out!
