  5. happened right here where I circled on the N4 the arrow shows my heartrate jump as I see the basTURDS
  6. I seriously doubt they were after the bike, they asked me for cell phones and then I actually remember on the Sunday when I put my wedding ring on that they asked me for my ring and any other jewellery.. which I didn't have.. The road is open an quite, they obviously saw an opportunity and took it, the whole thing must have lasted 2 minutes at the most.. I had to go to Atteridgeville police station to report it, that was a nightmare, more than 2 hrs and I still don't have a case number as there was no one there to actually put the docket into the system....
  7. haha you joke, I had the presence of mind to stop my garmin when they ran off..
  8. that is pretty special.. well done Try-Tri
  9. Indeed - There is no place for egos or pride in these situations, the man with the gun is boss.

  11. Never will dude, love it too much, won't let this incident deter me :-) i must say, more pissed at the situation in SA than at the dudes themselves, they are statistics themselves..
  12. it doesn't make sense to ride alone anymore..
  13. Hi all Was out for a pleasant 150km ride this morning, when at about 80km 2 friendly chaps (before anyone asks, yes they were black) jumped out in the road, one holding a gun. (it looked like a SAPS service piece) I was surprised at how calm i was during the whole incident, i got off my bike, turned away from them and lifted my hands. the one guy said to me to give him my phone, very quickly else he will shoot me.. the other guy checked the bike out and i think he didn't understand the tribar setup, he asked me very nicely how i was doing today, i replied very nicely " doing very well and you thanks buddy". (very sincerely) the one with gun asked me if i had another phone, i said i didn't, they checked my out patted me down and then said "drive on". They ran across the road and disappeared into the bushes. it happened on the Magalies Fway toll road, on the way back, just after you go under the citron bridge. there were 4 of us riding, i was quite a bit further in front of the others, so when they got there they didn't know what had happened. a motorist stopped as he saw what happened, but i said he can go as nothing can be done.. I am really just thankful that all they took was my phone, thank the Lord - my life is much more valuable.
  14. not saying that HE was blaspheming, I am just noting that people use a lot of phrases to try get a point across, but it doesn't mean that they believe are "affiliated" to the source... sorry for calling you bud, didn't realise it was unkind..
  15. not necessarily bud, lots of people blaspheming out there with no "affiliation" to the "religion"...
  16. Everyone is so ready to moer everyone else..?? Just saw that a motorist shot a motorcyclist dead this morning in a road rage incident..! \ Thank your lucky stars you are alive to tell the story, its more dangerous to confront someone, then to just let it go...
  17. "If I could go back I would handle quite a few relationships differently and the one with Marco is no different. My fundamental mistake was that while it was fine to be competitive with your rivals on the bike, when you step off the bike we're all humans and we all deserve to be treated with respect. I never switched off and while that killer mentality worked on the bike, it didn't work well when you're having a coffee or having a press conference. That was my mistake."
  18. We have ridden there ages back.. 8 years ago maybe.. its very rocky and loose with steep climbs.. worth a shot.. Apparently they used it for 4x4 testing...? wouldn't ride alone.. some dodgies lurking down in the trees...
  19. Car hate cyclist hate runner hate car hate cyclist hate runner.....blahblah.. I am all of those things and try to be courteous in all the situations..

  21. You will be surprised, insurance companies don't take these things lightly... If they suspect someone is drunk while having the accident, they will withhold payment..
  22. Try figure out who the insurance is, they will not pay out if you inform them he was drunk.. Send a message to the big insurance companies with the number plate info.. Teach the prick a lesson.
  23. People would follow him for a few different reasons, some wanting to see him succeed, some wanting to see him fail.etc It will be a big thing, right or wrong...
