  1. I would argue the descriptor "very" since not a single one of those players' parents were born in France. But I care zero about immigration, football or France, so I'm not going to [emoji6] Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  2. Who is America started last night. It's going to be in-freaking-sane.
  3. Can't really blame them, though, can you? Rather, blame the fact that sports stars are so ridiculously overvalued. If I was a football coach like Kylian Mbappé's dad I'd probably try to move to France to raise my kids there as well. And boy, did it pay off for him! €180 million is nothing to sneeze at, as both the agent and the dad of the most expensive teenager and the world's second most expensive player. 4. Survey done before the World Cup started: The French national football team has the most valuable squad, with its players worth in excess of $1.2 billion, according to research by Bonus Code Bets. Researchers, using the latest publicly available transfer figures for individual players, found Panama to have the least expensive squad, with its 23 players worth just $11.4 million. https://sputniknews.com/amp/worldcup-2018-archive/201806081065240051-france-wc-squad-value/ Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk

  8. I've been strengthening my kung fu this week by visiting a couple of old favourites starring Donnie Yen. After Shaolin (2011) 8/10 (mentioned above, starring Andy Lau) I watched Ip Man (2008) 8/10 and Ip Man 2 (2010) 7/10. Since I'm on the Ip Man trip I've also got The Grandmaster (2013) lined up for this weekend. I saw it when it came out but I never got around to rating it. It was nominated for two Oscars: Cinematography and Costume Design. Then I'll return to Donnie Yen with two I haven't seen yet: Painted Skin (2008) in which he fights a vampire and 14 Blades (2010) in which he's James Bond for the Ming Dynasty.

  14. I think so. Well, at least the head has been cut off! This is what it looks like: Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  15. We have a large whole snoek (about 1.8kg) that we want to try and bake in the oven in foil with butter and apricot jam. Any tips? We have almost no experience with fish. I've seen everything from 20 minutes at 180c to 30 minutes at 200c recommended. And are we supposed to cut it open before we spread on the butter and apricot jam? Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
  16. The universe has been created for one reason: So that this can happen.
  17. More like daddy issues. Unconfirmed rumours that he and his dad spent the weekend harassing Arjun Maini and his parents, mocking them for their Indian accents.
  18. I love this guy: Hugh Howey, an American author (check out his Beacon 23 series, they're awesome, and WOOL has become an international bestseller) moved to St Francis Bay in South Africa in 2015 where he commissioned the construction of a catamaran. He and his wife are currently sailing around the world. Here they drop a couple of cold beers and muffins in the lap of a passing fisherman.
  19. He sounds like a lovely human being.
  20. Saw two great movies this weekend. Shaolin (2011) 8/10 After ambushing and killing his rival, losing everything in the process, dispirited warlord Hou Jie turns to a Shaolin monastery seeking salvation. Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993) 8/10. A prepubescent chess prodigy refuses to harden himself in order to become a champion like the famous but unlikable Bobby Fischer.

  23. Yesterday started with a pork shoulder, rubbed with spices, and ended several hours later in a pulled pork burger. Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk

  25. I wasn't crazy about the ending either, but think it made perfect sense in the context of the story the film was telling.
