  1. Bruce Reyneke Cycles; Look on : www.selectcyclingclub.co.za Leave at 7h30 from the shop. 2 bunches now in winter. Both have vehicles following. Rides are about 3 hours.
  2. Rocket Ron's EVO. Very lightweight, but not to reliable. Excellent grip etc. The best competition tyre.
  3. If you have a problem, Lizle is your girl. WELL DONE TO AG. Again.
  4.
  5. I usually go on a sunday late-ish in the morning. Most of the slower riders seem to be on the course then. Not a problem for me, as I'm one of the bit faster riders. If I know I'm near the end of a single track, I just wait it out patiently then pass the rider with the simple "Hi, How are you?". Sometimes I would even go out of my way and help someone if the are struggling to ride an obstacle. Giving some friendly advice and pointers. Only incident I have had with a non-friendly rider is when I came of that rocky section after the wooden bridge. Come down the rocky section at my pace noticing some guys riding on the XC part parallel to that trail. So I continue, untill I come out to the part when the two trail meet and continue as one. So I come out with the last guy in the group, he doesn't like me going my speed so nearly rides me over as to say, "don't even think of pushing in", like "whatever tjop", so I follow them out that section riding nicely behind them, at there speed, not trying to push them out of the way. So half way up the track the whole group stops and lets me pass, how nice I thought. Well thats where the niceness ended. The one oke tune me: "Leke, windgat riding your bike so fast" That has to be the best comment I have ever heard. So if anyone is aware of a speed limit on the singletrack, I'm not, please kindly inform me of it.
  6. And they are very expensive to replace. Heard they don't last that long either
  7. Well if he worked at Bruce's, then Matthews trained him. Matthews trained Gary Blem aswell.
  8. Because the 26er is still and shall always be the most versatile MTB (period).
  9. Lighter wheels. Custom Build DT Swiss 240s hubs on ZTR Alpine rims. Your other bet is to buy a SRAM 2x10 Groupset and sell this one of as spares. Swap your brakes out for Formula R1's. Configure your rotors for 160 in front and 140 at the back. Maybe a ligter seat post if you can find one in that length. Lighter Handlebar. Unfortunately, in cycling less is more.
  10. Well done on an excellent choice. Fun on "All Mountains" is gaurenteed. Send me a pic of the complete bike.
  11. THE all Mountain bike: Remy Absalon won Alpe d'Huez enduro on a similiar one. And various other races http://www.commencal.com/web_bicycles/2011/pictures/meta_5_carbon.jpg
  12. Loose the rear suspension and choose smaller wheels. Then get a new left and right leg
  13. PROS: If done right, with the right tyre, you will get a lot less punctures. Lower pressure. Light weight. CONS: Cost and skill of getting it done properly. Welcome to MTB'ing Harryn! Tubeless is a must for mtb'ing. So starting with it from early will save you a lot of hassles. I use Sludge Ammonia Free sealant in my wheel. The work the fastes and don't damage your rims. Sure, they cost a little extra aswell. The biggest thing you have to look out for when doing tubeless for the first time is to make sure you install the tubeless kit (if your wheelset is not UST) properly. Make sure the valve is sealed properly. Then put some soap on the tyre bead once you've put the tyre on the rim, before you inflate it with a compressor to seal it. The soap will also show any leaks in the bead. Look at some of the videos on www.notubes.com. They use their product, but the basic principles shoen in the videos remain the same.
  14. Pinarello: Start by going two sizes down from a normal bike. Me for example: Normally a 54cm, in Pina a 51.5, cause they don't do a 52cm.
  15. AND THE SUPER 4 CARBON: http://www.commencal.com/web_bicycles/2011/pictures/super_4_carbon.jpg
  16. THE NEW COMMENCAL SKIN TEAM: http://www.commencal.com/web_bicycles/2011/pictures/skin_team.jpg
  17. I have insured with CycleSure and after they switched to Hollard and the new policy was given to me... I thought to myself what am I actually paying for here. They literally need to steel your bike by cutting it loose from an extra reinforced chain, cemente d to a tripple reinforced concrete pole, locked behind a biometric security system, patrolled by three guard dogs and a patrol tower with a station .50 cal browning machine gun with 360 degrees of lighting, before they consider paying out.
  18. Got to vote for this one aswell. Upgrade on this is DT 240 hubs with areolite spokes on the same rims.
  19. Check under the videos section on www.notubes.com. The have a video there on mounting and dismounting. What has to happen is that you first have to push the tyre out of the bead socket, breaking the tubeless seal, into the central cavity/ditch and then use the tyre lever to pop it out. It is all there in the video.
  20. Screen layout can be customized, so the data fields can be moved. These units look very similar to me. I own a Garmin Edge 500. Best and most versatile computer on the market. I would buy a Garmin again and not the copy and paste effort
  21. Who has a set of these, the newer ones? What is your experience and is it worth while for all round wheels? Just read a few reviews on the net saying the spokes break easily and rear hub is very noisy?? please share.
  22. Depends if you want to race with your PowerTap or just train with it? If you only going to train, EA 90 SLX is good wheels, you'll even be able to do a few races with it. One of the guys in our club uses this setup for training. Otherwise, if you want to race with it aswell, build it onto ZIPP 404's, but this means your trainnig and racing wheelset is going to be the same set.
  23. I use option B and my Conti's do fine on the road. I run the 2.0 models. I love the setup. If the terrain gets a bit trickier I would put the new X-king on the front. That tyre is WOW
  24. Campag feels nice to ride with. Those ergo levers are amazing and comfortable. However, the problem for me with campag is the price and the shifting sounds like a tin can. SRAM's levers might not be as super comfortable, but the shifting is unbelievealbly smooth and quiet and it is not as expensive if you break a component.
  25. Try the Commencal Meta 5.5 or Super4 team edition. Won't recommend you go for a carbon bike with you being on the heavier side.
