  1. they not willing to sponsor, they want other people to sponsor, our government. cant someone here arrange it with our money? but.....we have this 3 day in Boland...
  2. i dont think the organisers could come up with the guarantees(a guess), I'm sure Austin you dont wanna race then there's no prize money, or halfway they just stop with the tour. On the other hand, there is this little 3 day in die Boland....
  3. They know but dont tell. I know there were lots of extensions given on financial guarantees that had to be provided. But if R1m were promised in a contract then surely they must pay. its an overseas company organising with SA money as sponsorship.
  4. Maybe the Epic is AGAIN taking me away from the family, so my wife wants to plan an Orange river trip with Felix, Bundi or whoever, for the April school holidays, like the day after the Epic finished! And I normally just sleep and sleep for 3 days after Epic. Any company you can recommend, and what about Breede river? Can I sleep while my boy paddles?
  5. Moet almal met dieselfde jerseys ry?? Ek is by n company estate agents (met die groot ballon) wat sowat R2m bydra tot reach for a dream jaarliks. Dalk moet ek my bergfiets vat, n paar myle vir die Epic. Is dit so 100km/dag?
  6. power training is free..just put it into big blade up the hill and stay seated.

  10. Look out for the winning team in the DC, Anderson transport, in sub vets, also with a very fit over 40 rider in that team that podiums in the epic masters division. A bunch of MTBikers on a road team, should climb well, but you guys should outwit, outplay them.
  11. The wrong team was given by the road comm, Bart Harmse to Lawrence, Chrissie is not in, accordingb to my sources. Bart must resign, I will send a letter tomorrow.
  12. I got a call from a lady last week. She told me she is new in the area, stays about 15k's outside Stellenbosch and Somerset WEst. Want to START riding, will try and start with 10km for the 1st month, next month 20k's. She wants to join a club, maybe Maties. I didnt want to take her money, and then the club idea is not of benifit. Told her to see if some of the people on the estate also rides, maybe start something social. Also told her to join PPA and start joining in short funrides, also gave her the HUB to go to, maybe there are other people like her that is starting up. Looks like she joined. Most of the clubs I've belonged to dont cater for the very unfit beginner. If she landed up at the start of the academic year with a bunch of fit clubriders it wont work. If my unfit wife wants to start running tomorrow, she must start with her kids or a friend in the area. Dont join the running club in the morning. Also said that she will improve on her PPA seeding and at some stage she will do longer races and the she can join a club, can ride a bit faster and further, also know more people doing the same thing then. Its all nice to say , "come join us on Helshoogte", but who really wants to wants to ride 10k's in an hour when yoy have limited time. Are their clubs that cater for the beginner, and if you do, how do you not get frustrated if someone cant do a 10km ride.
  13. WHO WAS THIS SECRETARY?? Hope you're not referring to the conversation you had with me? (staying in de Wijnlanden, work at ACutts?) Because if you are, then you must improve on listening before you start cycling.
  14. i think Matthysen got the wrong advice, coaching. Pity, lots of talent, maybe he start again without pressure.
  15. I dont think a team should be selected and go to the world cups or olympics. Rather spend that money on junior or development cycling (same thing for me) Willemse and Thomas are 2 of our top trackies, esp the points, madison. Louter were bad in DEcember in the 2 events in Paarl. van Wyk is a bit old, we need to develop youngsters, rather send Ketterer overseas for a few months (junior last year, won the 1500m scratch at selection race) Morne Blignaut is our fastest rider, but qualified about 44th out of 48 for match sprint at a recent world cup. So how can the rest go if he didnt make it. At his prime Robbie Dale was good, esp madison, but to just send any rider to world cups is stupid, you need to get into things first. I cant see how the guys going to USA will get good results. But you guys that critisize the team, did you watch recent track events? The idea of the worlds view is to get our top trackies some more road racing against top roadies doing base and doing a funride. The top road squads dont want to release their tems for national teams the whole season, and they pay the salaries, so most of them will ride for Neotel, Konica, MTN in the worlds view. ITS ALL ABOUT CONNECTIONS, So get your guys in as selectors.
  16. I dont think where you are ranked is that important, if Marco, Craig win their races its more important than a ranking. Hunter isnt the no 1 ranked rider in SA acc to supercycling. But i dont hink thats something for Latrinus to sort out next week. Maybe the different seeding people and timing people systems must be in sync, so if you arrive from Gauteng for a race in the Cape, you must race in the right bunch. So you must have the same seeding all over.
  17. And Shaun Roos/ Auctionlamb, is he gonna join his DC team for the league?? Did he flick his old team??
  18. I believe Guy pike will join O'Connor for Daikin in sub vets. Good combination. Neil Bradford will also be strong. And me, still deciding about the vets league thing, not sure if I'm in the mood for Naas, B Ireland, Doug Brown on the climbs. At the moment just trying to get to Dick's level for Epic.
  19. Campy doing the other stages??
  20. sm, will i see u at the epic waterpoints again?? please keep the drugs on standby again for carinus, myself, jannie and rodney. and the oil.
  21. So will the 29er be a good EPIC bike?? Reasons? HT or Full?
  22. Chris doen asb n spellcheck.
  23. Craig Hawtrey will inform you of the course a day before the time. I will also be interested, managed previously but never needed papers.
  24. When we started racing we didnt have to wear helmets. We never trained with helmets, after about 28 years of cycling one of my friends/training buddies was almost killed by a drunk driver. With his helmet. Out of respect for him (and a bit because the roads are verrry busy) I am now riding with a helmet. About once a month if I ride on my own, at a time when I know the roads are not busy I wont put a helmet on. We didnt grow up with helmets while cycling, for most of the oldies its just that. I've done about 300 rides for 25 years, 7500 rides without a helmet. Now we must put it on. Not so easy to change. But i will never tell someone to get lost that doesnt wear a helmet. I AM PRO CHOICE! But if Latrinus flies down a fast singletrack without a helmet I think he is crazy. But we see too many cyclists WITH helmets riding outside the yellow line, jumping red robots. Surely thats more dangerous? PRO CHOICE
  25. condolences van jou DC span
