  1. Now you guys have all these great names of experts to phone, consult, vote, but you didnt suggest a name when they (CSA) needed names for vets selectors! You guys could've been the selectors. You're dropping your own riders and teammates. I was available as elite selector, wasnt elected by congress, they went for ouk in my area that phones me for advice, so thats OK. I didnt wanted to stand as vets selector as I dont know the strong boys in Gauteng. But why didnt you guys nominate?? And now you blame CSA. WE ARE CSA!! Speke, as road commissioner why dont you publish the paper trial that led to this squad being announced, and who's the vets selectors... and which names did they put forward?
  2. At the AGM in April we had to vote new selectors in. Andrew McLean was the only serving veteran selector according to the 2007 annual report. And according to the CSA website he is a veteran selector along with Jan vd Berg. I remember there were basically no nominations for vets selectors. You cant just go on the national champs, there was a season of vets pro series as well. And its no use picking a rider like me if I medal at SA's cause Im a wheelsucker, you need the hard men that can sit with the elites. Coming back to selectors, its up to the vets to make sure that they propose selectors via their clubs and provinces. So you dont need a voting system of riders, get the guys in as selectors. Abdul, the new track commisioner arranged assistance to the track masters team, surely the road comm could do the same.
  3. Mclean is a vet selector as far as i know. Garrett should be in, Enzo a reserve??, and a former druggie also a reserve??
  4. Test them before they leave.
  5. And if Hunter wasnt selected you wankers would moan more than your wife on a good nite.
  6. If Soler is out it will clear the way for the rest of the boys to go into breaks, JL for polkadot
  7. So who was this downhiller? Rain, rugby, sorry.
  8. and soler was in colombia, wasnt that where rasmussen claimed to be last year?
  9. Well done Nolan, Johan Rabie! Will have good shape for Olympics. Sorry, not picked. Good shape for Jock.
  10. Latest from Carinus by sms. "Ek shortcut vandag na willowmore, more tot op prins albert...kom dan saterdag hystoe...moet dinsdag begin werk" This race must be 10 times worse than the Epic.
  11. Send a better team manager next time, then they can beat Pepper!
  12. Latrinus busy with this mad race from Natal to Cape offroad, unaided. A few days ago he left Cradock, rode for 7 hours and were allmost where he started. Cant read maps, ha, ha. Slept one night outside near Rhodes at -6 Celcius. The big news is that master rider Tim James (previous winner of Sedgefield fat tyre festival) broke the record by 2 days, riding the last 500k's on a single speed after his jockey broke! C'mon mr McLean, there's a record you can chase! check the interesting daily updates on the website, www.freedomchallenge.org.za I think Latrinus will aim for Knysna and bum a lift home, needs to work a bit next week, allready lost 10k's.
  13. The drunk, hangover team Tuks won team, with hungover Maties 2nd. Its a pity the top matie rider Arno Viljoen was sick, he would podium. Girls team was Maties. Donner maar daai 2 Tukkies was stukkend gisteraand!
  14. are the maties still riding? must be their worst SASSU ever. Need some classes in race tactics
  15. who's the busybody driving the tukkies car in the convoy?
  16. the 3 day Oudtshoorn race at the end of September is an individual race.
  17. I've done an Epic with Latrinus where he bought a mtb a week before the race, not had one for years. Did Epic with a weeks training, finished. Now he's taking it a bit far. He's starting the freedom challenge next week. About 25 days of mtb through snow and sh*t. Pietermaritzburg to Paarl offroad. He trained once a week, is about 15k's overweight, cant read a map, wont be prepared with all the "stuff". Hope he takes a bottle. Check out the website www.freedomchallenge.org.za
  18. With all the problems lately in cycling and on the Hub lets see what the people think
  19. Dougie the diplomat! I also heard some riders are leaving next week, the vibe must be *** to walk away from R20 or R30k a month. Maybe they going to ride for John Robertson now.
  20. The only thing wrong is that it looks a lot like the Epic, like R2500 per person if my family wants to join me there as supporters. Why cant we just rent a bungalow, braai, drink beers and pay an entry fee, about R3000 per rider. Does anyone else charge this much for supporters?
  21. So where would David G go in this potential split up? This needs to happend, as one team musnt dominate with numbers, like 12 against 4, then we could have better SA's next year, its very good for SA pro cycling. Wonder if the fact that the poor MTN boys had to back peddal at the road race, not to catch McLeod and JjVRensburg, was it the last straw?
  22. So does coke make u go faster?
  23. Why PM , I'm not a woman. Let me advertise. www.newbridge.co.za hendrik@newbridge.co.za
  24. On your primary residence you pay CGT after R1,5m profit(if its in your own name) , but only 25% of that gets added to your annual income. So someone thats on the max tax rate of 40% will pay (only for the part more than the R1,5m profit) 40% of 25%, thats 10% says my grade 8 boy. For non residence the same formula applies just from R1 profit, unless you held the property in another legal entity, then its more. Bla, bla, bla. But the residential property market is in for a moerse shock. I had an auction of properties mostly in the Strand areas, not one house got enough interest for a sale. The estate agents and sellers were moerse shocked. Since yesterday I had calls from strangers that saw my ads to auction 13 properties. But are they willing to go low enough, not sure, we need another rate hike. Then hopefully I'll cook. People just want the money back they paid 2 years ago. But what will the banks say if we get less than the outstanding debt? But I did appoint a lady cyclist with good looks to council the poor sellers.(ex Olympian and married)
  25. if they've been doing it for a few years now, I would like to see the list of , lets say 3 years ago, where are those kids now? How many are still racing, and how well? I predict that a max of 2 kids will be racing when they elite. I would rather the kid just enjoy he cycling, and get serious last year junior. Or they will be part of the 400 u 16 SA champs of the last 30 years that stopped age 19.
