  1. So thinking about doing this, I see registration is on the 17th till 16h00, what time is the start though? Try to see if I could squeeze it in after Sani trail that ends on the 16th?
  2. I honestly think this is one of the best programs using sport to uplift a community in RSA I have seen. Songo has a vision and now a track record of commitment to delivering a world class program. Its a great cause for a RSA business to throw some real money at to make a difference in a real community.
  3. They started together, meintjes crossed the line first? What's the problem? Hope he is having a big celebration.
  4. Just wondering if generally guys race this with wet suits or not?
  5. What ever you do dont ride with tubes. Life is to short!
  6. So I have entered and got the little e ticket thing. What now? Do I just rock up on the day with that?
  7. Are late entries possible?
  8. Hey guys. I am planning a trip with my girlfriend. Thought I would post the route we are planning to get some ideas from anyone who has done something similar. Have posted the over night stops. We are going unsupported and while the distances look long, we are both strong cyclist and are happy to travel very light. Basically we are following the rough route of lots of the tour groups do looking for the famous climbs. Any thoughts on how easily finding a big shop to get cardboard boxes from in nice for the return flight will be? Itinerary France trip Land 11 August 9:20 am in geneva 86km 11 August - Cluses 140km 12 August Borg saint maurice 120km (adding in col du mont Cenis) 13 August Le Mariton. Through Le grave , drop bags, apl d'huez, back to le grave 120km 14 August le grave. Barcelonnnette 124 Or Barcelonnette via lac da Serra-poncon 134 15 august Barcelonnette (le sauz) 106km 16 August Roure 130km 17 and 18 August Nice Any thoughts will be much appreciated! James

    Ride for Sight

Some one must know the men and womens winning times?
  10. Cut the thumb to save weight?
  11. What am I missing that I don't see the graphic?
  12. I think we have lost the track of this thread along the way!! Becoming a pro does not mean you are a saint. We have all done stupid stuff befor, so I still love to watch suize race! Enjoy fighting chaps.
  13. I send my lovely lady out to do 3 hours befor I join her so I can cruise with her for the last 2. Else it's just hell for me as she is so competitive it's not funny. Maybe apply the same in reverse just make sure her bike is sorted befor you leave, if her tires are flat you will be in deep trouble.
  14. Was the route different for the one on the 11th and the one on the 16th? I see the results give them as different distances.
  15. If you looking for a comfort vs extra cash spent an old quality road frame could be picked up on the hub for R500-750 and you will most likely get to where you are going in the same time and comfort give or take a few seconds. If you are wanting to impress your mates, they know the price tag so you must spend more, and ensure its carbon!!
  16. I'm not sure there is much of a price difference with the hard tails? As far a yes or no, that is a big can of worms. But my opionon is look at what the pros who have multiple bikes ride on generally in mass participants on events/fun rides.. Generally 29er. There would be no discussions if it was me, 29er.
  17. Post #4 shows you a mount that you can attach to a any round average size tube. Get that put on a normal bottle cage then buy a 500ml cycling bottle, the normal bottle just shorter. But the question is why put it on the top tube when you can put it out of your way and out of the wind behind the seat post? And how are you going to stand over the tube when stationary with a bottle rubbing up you unit?
  18. Is buying a fake Springbok jersey on the side of the road taking money from cantaberries profits, who have paid to be the kit sponsor? In cantaberries sponsorship plan will be income from jersey sales, is this different a cycling kit producer who sponsors a team?
  19. I am all for cheap kit, but if you want to put your favorite teams kit on your back why should you not pay the company that has bought that right their fee? If you want cheap kit make it plain or with your own design, don't steal someone else's "brand". I personally will ride branding less kit as much as possible till I am either given, or paid for it or it gives the branding to a good cause. Any way this topic will always cause much heated debate between the guys looking at the big picture and the guys who look at themselves.
  20. Spot on from what i can tell. Additionallly SASCOC can only recognise one federation for each sport for that sport represent the country at the olympics. Rather put your energy into fixing your club, then fix the provincal structure, then your federation if you feel that strongly about things. Sport and politics go hand in hand!
  21. Thanks for the responses guy, pezulu I will send you a pm in a bit. Any good dirt roads?
  22. Hi, Can anyone help me with some ideas for routes and trails around the Malelane area. Preferably mtb but anything really. A side note is it would be preferred if the risk of being eaten by a lion was minimal!
  23. My view would be to focus on the nutrition during the 100km and in the 48 hours following it (Simple stuff, lots of carbs and protein, in a shake or a steak it does not matter, just pack it in for a few days), then have a very light week of active training, followed by a medium week and then a light week leading into IM. So light medium light. I would not just do light training for the 3 weeks leading in. The body and mind has an amazing ability to recover and an even more amazing ability to adapt () to reduced load over a period of time. 3 light weeks and your body won’t know what hit it at IM. One or two solid rides or swims will sort you out. I would stay well away from gimmicks, if you don’t already do it and believe it is working don’t waste time, money, or energy on in now. Rather take the time and energy to put an extra 50km into the legs. That is how i would do it in your position. Let us know how you go.
  24. Hey guys, Where does one find info on this place, not going to lie you have done a good job selling it!
  25. 2 weeks in a sling completely immobile and you will SEE muscle degeneration in the shoulder of a well trained athlete. Saw it first hand with and injury this year.
