  3. ahhh Stevie Nicks....in her younger days, my hall pass
  4. Also heard this, but then I go through a bag to quick for freezing to be worth my while. My standard order at afriblack is one roaster today and one roasted two days ago.
  5. Oh and if you do go local roaster...you can buy say two packets. 1 that was roasted two days ago and the other on the day of purchase...you can then use the one that has degassed for two days already when you get home and the other one will be perfect once bag one is finished ensuring that you always hitting the sweetspot ito freshness and degassing. Cant do that at checkers.
  6. Can't agree more...Illy is a rip I will be honest...considering it will almost always be stale if bought at a supermarket...no matter how much they vacuum pack... Go local roaster...cheaper, better coffee...more consistent.
  7. hahahahha No, but just saying that you can get a much better tasting coffee if you grind your own and use on demand...
  8. Yea i forgot to mention the most important flaw in the pod system... If you grind and use within a couple of seconds it makes a huge difference in the taste. Also it doesn't help if you start with stale beans, hence supermarket stock is out. Rather get your beans from a shop that roast daily I get mine from afriblack in north deco park....
  9. I aint no expert thug but I would rather go with a machine that you can control the variables... Grinding coarseness Tamp pressure Double / single shot Its also way more fun to do it this way...the pod systems makes coffee that are consistent no doubt, but it might be consistent for the majority of peoples pallets, me personally don't like their tastes...but there is no wrong or right.
  10. Dean I will see your heart of gold and raise you "rockin in the free world"
  11. great minds bra, great minds..
  12. Love how dark they made this
  13. another boss cover....again did by the mumford lads, elvis adding some spice. great stuff
  14. Going to be hard to beat the original, but for a live version, right up there
  15. Deffos, I have a really entry level setup and grind / tamp is the single most important thing in drawing a good shot(obviously if you use freshly roasted beans). I sommer know on my machine that when I try something new(new beans / tamp force / grind setting / basket size) and the shot doesnt draw for 23-25 seconds its not going to be lekker.
  16. I wouldnt...to be totally honest with you. The thing with the cheapies are they are inconsistent, so much so that 1 extract will be a thing of beauty and the next a total dogshow...and you would have no idea why. See a good shot is a combination of a few things...consistently get them right and you will have a good shot everytime. I would rather buy me a nice grinder and some good beans and look out for a aeropress. Your shots will be much easier to replicate.
  17. Waaahaaaaaa
  18. will take some tonight, but well chuffed with this little purchase and considering the price...I couldnt really refuse even if its not considered a proper machine... It took me about a week to work out what beans(http://www.stilcoffee.com/catalogue/coffee-blends/vintage-black-espresso), what grind setting(grind 12/15 ito finest being 15) and tamping pressure(as hard as I can and fill basket to the brim) to use. But now I can consistently get a awesome tasting, 24 sec shot. Oh and like I said the double walled is sommer kuk, never had any success with it. I might play around with the grind course a bit more, but I am already at the top end ito fine but I did see a thread on another site where you can hotwire the thing to grind finer if it ever comes to that.
  19. So I can finally contribute in dis thread...long story short, I have a colleague that is migrating and he is selling most of his appliances so got this for the bargain price of 1500...and its hardly been used http://coffeegeek.com/reviews/consumer/brevillebes860xl/latest Loving life...look I know its a breville and it might not have a good grinder or temp control, but when I use fresh beans, double basket...single wall(tried using the double wall, but its kuk), finest grind and tamp like a hydraulic press, I get a very lekker shot.
  20. Classic tune that by ol evoid
