  1. Thank you Jay.
  2. Thanks again Polli.
  3. Thanks Polli - perhaps your suggestion of disabling hardware acceleration in the Chrome websettings before HDMI would be a good start at this time Now, AppleTV looks interesting? I am a first-level Apple fanboy, I love both my iPhone and my iPad but nothing beyond that at this time - I will need to research what it can do for me.
  4. Hi All, a lapsed Hubber here. I ditched DSTV two months ago. Motorsport coverage was my main reason for persevering for so long. I subscribe to F1TV on my laptop and have rather used that for F1 viewing for the last year or so (albeit with some stuttering/buffering transmission from time to time?? I'm using Cool Ideas Vumatel 100mbps home fibre.) Now that I have ditched DSTV I was hoping I could simply watch F1TV onto my now oldish Samsung Smart TV (Gen 4 I think), but not so; F1TV is not listed in the TV's Smart Apps, and when I find the website in the TV's Web Browser it will not allow me to log into my account in the F1TV app. I have tried linking my laptop to the TV with an 8K HDMI cable but experience more frequent buffering than when watching on my laptop (coincidence or technical, I don't know?), so that experience was not great. Dipping my toe into Google I see talk of Google Chromecast, Amazon Firesticks and suchlike - I don't want to go down this rabbit warren unless I have some concrete advice or information, it's beyond my limited tech knowledge and experience! I will be grateful for any information or advice - how do Hubbers watch the F1TV App on their smart TVs? Any suggestions?
  5. Give that pilot a Bells...or two
  6. Go for the Bialetti Wayne...
  7. Thanks all for your input on Customs Duty. It's still in the dream phase, but one has to plan in advance...
  8. What Import Duty is payable on bringing in a watch purchased overseas? Either via online shopping, or declaring in the red queue at ORT?
  9. So, how are you getting on?
  10. I wonder why there is no SA Motorbike Festival at Kyalami this year? Months back, if not late last year, it was slated for 31 May to 2 June. I thought the last two were rather good. Promoter problems? Or has the market tanked?
  11. I never use full heat. Put hot water, nearly boiled, into the Moka pot reservoir and place it on low/medium-low, and then be patient. Do something else whilst keeping eyes and ears on the pot. Remove from heat once it starts making bubbling noises. Done within 5 minutes.
  12. Absolutely worth it if you like stronger coffee. They do not make espresso in the true sense, but you can make perfectly satisfying coffee that can approach espresso, in my amateur view at least. They are convenient, and the process and output can be addictive , millions of Italians cant be wrong! The first thing to understand is the capacity - a 6 cup Bialetti makes an average mug, and so on. I would also say avoid the cheap imitations, go for Bialetti - spares are available in ZA. There is tons of info on the web, forums, websites and You Tube, so do some research.
  13. Thanks for replies so far, especially PhillipV above
  14. OK, so I moved house at the beginning of March and found that the gap in the gas hob pot supports were too large to support even my 6 cup moka pot. Overseas one can easily find gas ring reducers which sit on the pot support, and which reduce the gap, sufficient to be able to support moka pots and other smaller vessels. One would have thought that this is a relatively common problem, but I've only found one retailer that sells a gas ring reducer (yuppiechef, and they are waiting for stock). A number of coffee equipment shops just glaze over when you ask about them (and describe what they do)... Does anyone know where I could find one in ZA, and specifically Jozi if possible?
  15. A report-back from time to time would be interesting.
  16. Not a new show, but on Netflix I've recently discovered Blacklist starring James Spader. Enjoying much.
  17. Very sad indeed. I was knocked out by that drone footage. As a guest of, and onetime Country Member of the Durban Undersea Club, it was one of my favourite places anywhere. Just to sit at DUC with a simple meal and a beer and watch the ships enter and leave Durban Harbour was wonderful, even when it was raining! I'm talking about 10+ years ago though. What became of the plans to turn Vetch's into a posh yacht marina?
  18. Great viewing indeed, he is an impressive artist.

  21. Submitted on 31 October with supporting docs for the inevitable audit (five or so years in a row now). Received confirmation of audit completion on 30 November, with no changes to original submission. Refund received on 5 December. Not bad at all.
  22. Mmm...happy food
  23. Congrat Gummi - looking forward to your feedback.
  24. How do you rate the E8 for home use?
