  1. Thanks V12, unlikely to get into serious espresso for a while. Moka pot will probably be the closest in the foreseeable.
  2. Does anyone have any experience with the Severin Conical Burr Electric Grinder? https://capecoffeebeans.co.za/collections/coffee-grinders/products/severin-conical-burr-electric-coffee-grinder?variant=846589573 I currently use a Porlex hand grinder and whilst it's great for my needs, I'm starting to find it tiresome. My brew method is currently pour-over, I'm also thinking of getting a French Press and maybe also a moka pot. Daily usage is 3 - 6 brews. Looking forward to your feedback.
  3. Enjoying the Sky coverage - is this confirmed for the rest of the season?
  4. So sad...RIP Barry. Condolences to his loved ones.
  5. Lots of positives for a good recovery to you Tumbles.
  6. That's certainly a litany of obstacles, but I hope that your finances and senses of humour can stretch to an extended timeframe. We are rooting for you and always look forward to your updates.
  7. Looks like he'll keep you on your toes..
  8. Thumbs up to Wayne at Urban Grind in Parkhurst. I asked him to take me through his pour-over process, which confirmed some of what I have been doing for the last few months since I acquired my V60, and changed most of my dosing and timing parameters. I'm enjoying the first cup right now. Thanks Wayne.
  9. ..now that's style..
  10. Looking at the Giant ZA website for the first time in years I see a model that interests me - the FastRoad CoMax. I've searched the web for tests but have seen nothing detailed. Are they in ZA, does anyone have any knowledge/experience of them?
  11. Welcome back!
  12. ...OMG..
  13. When looking at the Porlex be aware that there are two sizes, the "Mini" and the "Tall', with little price difference. The latter has greater capacity which you may find more convenient. I have recently bought the Tall (my first grinder, still a beginner) and I'm happy with it although still have experiment with different grinds, I'm just using it for Hario V60 pour over coffee. A nice little early morning ceremony
  14. What a Prat !
  15. Anyone out there have any knowledge or experience of the Yamaha TMax? Yes, a scooter, but there a place for them too. And how about Vespas?
  16. Ah, Protector helmets, locally made and their full face looked just like a Bell Star - I was so proud of mine and still have it, all the innards have long since perished though
  17. Looking forward to the next episode of this vintage...
  18. Damn..!? Best wishes for sorting this out.
  19. Thanks very much, it sounds like the answer to my Nespresso cost concerns, at least in the short to medium term.
  20. Please tell me more about the reusable pods:- http://www.truthcoffee.com/shop/bundle/gift-pack-2/
  21. How civilised is that bike maintenance station...
  22. I do and, judging by the recycle bins in the Nespresso shop I go to, I'm not alone. Nespresso may not be up to the standards of the cognoscenti on this forum, but it's a start, and I also want more now but I'm in a bit of a cost bind; whilst Nespresso is now bloody expensive per cup, so too is a halfway decent grinder and brewing kit...
  23. No one go to the Bike Festival at Kyalami...? Had a great day there on Saturday, lot's of good stuff to see, lot's of people, and Kyalami is looking fantastic
