  1. Nooo dude, I am leaning towards maaayyybe doing the Oceans, but nothing longer than that on road. Did a longish road run last weekend... I am so not used to it! Previous weekend's longer run with over 1000m elevation, but in the mountain was much more enjoyable! First I must survive this Cape Town Marathon thingie I got myself into.
  2. Not a GC issue - I'm on Suunto and yesterday's activity also not synced yet. On disco website I see the same as above, seems to be there, but points not yet calculated.
  3. Hmmm, I suspect the new shoes I hoped to do Cape Town Mar in, will not be the ones carrying me on the day. It simply nails my forefoot on any longer runs or when I run in them when I'm tired. My feet are incredibly sore and stiff afterwards, basically the tendons under the arch. No plans to run myself into planar f pains! They will become my training pair for shorter daily runs, otherwise I'll not be able to walk after k 30! Higher drop shoes obviously does not do the thing for me... even if it's slightly higher. But weirdly, they don't feel like higher drop shoes. Anyways, they're not going to see marathon distance on my feet! Fine for those shoe-killing training miles.

  5. 18 Sept. Only my 2nd marathon, so just doing it "for fun"... As a buddy says, "Want ons KAN!"
  6. Ja, it's all about breaking the habit - he says, not thinking about his regular glass of wine whilst making food. Still not game for this Comrades madness, but kept ticking over and had a nice weekend, will now slow off for the remainder of the week with Kleinmond XL trail run on the weekend. Next target, Cape Town marathon. Just got some new shoes specifically because my current ones aren't going to make it. But it felt very harsh on the front foot over the initial two runs. Then strangely it felt better yesterday, so it just might work out and not get to be training shoes only. Maybe it broke in or something, they did say (at the shop) that the heel will feel hard initially. Think yesterday's run took them from just shy of 30 to 50k's, which a buddy previously mentioned is about the distance it takes to get shoes run in.

Actually saw a bit of the GP yesterday. These rules are grinding my knee cartilage. How the heck can they justify a 5 sec penalty for Nico (no, not a fan...) yet Max's stunt in Hungary was acceptable?! Surely just pushing the guy out (to a concrete run-off area) when you have the inside line is much less (if even) of a transgression than multiple direction switches?
  8. ..."with proof of race completion with a race certificate or other supporting documentation." Does anybody have a clue what this entails - what is valid/acceptable "other supporting documentation"? Will a link to the timing company's website (be it Racetec, EntryNinja, AMARider, excel file from the event with results or whatever) suffice? Very little races (riding or running) that I do actually give certificates. Otherwise this is being hyped up - but when rolled out nobody can claim any events because of lack of evidence.
  9. FWIW, regarding the RBTV options. I have had the same struggles via Kodi. Nothing would work on any PC. Then spotted on my Android box that there's a RBTV app, installed that and it has worked well the times I watched it. That was status as of end last month - was away (and then too busy) for a while now, will verify it again tonight.
  10. Okay, I'm the noob in running - but surely that makes sense? If you aim to run a marathon, you're surely not going to do 10 or 15k max and hope for the best on the day... you HAVE to do runs of at least 35k's beforehand. Likewise for cycling - you're not going to ride TransBaviaans having just done training for an Argus. So why would it be different for Comrades?

Whilst I agree that it's Iannone's error that led to the crash - I do not understand why everybody is up in arms about it. In my mind what Pedrosa did to Dovi a couple of races ago was far worse and more dangerous. Nobody batted an eye, yet now everybody is crying for bans for Iannone? Are we really going to be moving into F1 crybaby territory now where every overtaking that does not go according to plan must be penalised? And no, that crash is in no way resembling anything close and cannot be compared to what happened on the Luis Salom incident.
  12. Anybody that even hit the "Enter" button are impressive in my mind. Everybody that made it to the start line is one determined bugger. Congrats to all! Ferret, you really klapped that one - awesome! Had to laugh at the post-race emotions of a friend - it encompassed what an amazing event this is for all who participate. We'll meet up over the coming weekend and I expect a lot of war stories!

Was great to see Rossi pull that win from nowhere! Just had a look and (incl inaugural race) only 9 rookie winners in the 100 runs. The previous 3 names on the list being Graham Hill, JPM and Helio. Regarding Monaco - exciting race brought about by the changeable weather conditions. But seriously... they raced flat-out from a standing start in the past under much worse conditions than they started in under SC yesterday. And then still some guys cannot drive on the straight once they get the green light... Which was only when the track was almost drying. All for driver safety, but this is just nuts.

Are there still people saying it doesn't have effect? Heard only a part of a chat with Stoner over the weekend - think it was between quali 1 and 2. He chatted about their effect in testing when he was still at Ducati. Biggest effect is in high-speed cornering - which maps exactly to the lifting/light rear wheel over crests, since the front end is pushed down at speed.
  15. Jo, min dae guys. Stay healthy and safe travels - all the best on race-day!
  16. Some friendly banter between the two... Brandi - using the pool as his water bowl (they both do...) Ehhhr - water? What water? It was the poodle! Kahlua on a well-deserved break. First one in... at least 10 minutes!
  17. Has anybody upgraded to the newer 16.1? I'm on 16 on PC (and 15 on my device) but see messages relating 16.1 and in the same breath they're saying some things change completely... Though from what I've read it seems much like 16. Hardly got going and starting to slowly get the hang of it, so want to know whether I'll have to re-shift my mind or whether it's actually (as I suspect) much of the sameness with more background/behind-the-scenes tweaks.
  18. Haahaha - Dream on! I see absolutely no reason for me to run that! It was in the mountain... I keep the pavement pounding to when I have to.
  19. One of my two weekend activities synced to Vitality during the course of the day yesterday. The other one not. Fortunately it was the 3h+ run that uploaded!

Yeah, loved their ideas! In the snake year (Jordan 197) it was Bitten & Hisses with the B&H on sidepod being modified to look like snake skin as well, also with the driver names with multiple S's: Sssschuey and Fisssssi.

There's no tobacco sponsorship allowed in F1 any more. Started off fairly small where in some countries only banned the advertising. So you'd see things like West being called East (on Zakspeed) or driver names in same fonts for West (McLaren). Big M usually used stripes, sometimes team names. Rothmans came up with a couple of nice alterations through the years. The Jordan B&H always tended to be full of initiative. Mild Seven also did some interesting ones at times, some rather boring ones too. Then later the full ban on tobacco advertising. And back to orange - up to early 2000's you'll see Macs at times ran their test cars in a orange and black livery. More often than not I preferred that livery! Here's an example, think this was about the last time they ran like this (as far as I can remember) And here's Denny Hulme running at Monaco back in the day...

Cannot agree more - a lot of cars being silver and black is really becoming "meh". Except that the chevron sponsor is no longer welcome in F1. Ferrari even had to change their logo whilst the sponsorship was still in place but kept the outlines "close enough" to still resemble "big M" involvement in the team. Might actually still be in place, from there the Scuderia Ferrari block logo on the engine cover. If they really want to stand out, they should go back to their original scheme of orange.
