  1. After almost two weeks of no running, the leg felt good over the weekend. Went for a very gentle little run this morning. Leg felt really good... Halfway through the morning I got up from my chair for coffee. Cursed and sat back down. Long story short... the first appointment I could get at my bio is only Friday. My wife's response - about bloody time you went to see her. Guess it's back to light riding till then...
  2. In summary - and this is my interpretation of what was written of what he said... so what he actually said and meant may be vastly different. Very little about what is being accomplished by the device. Very quickly went into whether everybody will have the capability to perform these multiple actions every lap. Fastest way vs the best way... in the light of a very off-the-cuff example. Being - we had f-duct back in the day, where it was the fastest way but we used to drive around with one hand on the steering wheel for half the lap. Now if that's not clever wording for a ban the thing campaign... Because he knows the advantage it will give.

Paint job only counts that much for me... but I REALLY think the Aprilia looked better in test (lack of) colours than launch colours. Maybe if they left out the garish fluo yellow Aprilia logo over the front winglets it would have been okay?
  4. Okay, I've watched it now. Soooo, in my (personal) opinion... it's genius! Firstly, to clarify - it does not alter ride height. It alters toe-in. The objecting comments initially was to altering suspension whilst driving. Still valid. That IS suspension being altered. My first thought when I read through the process was - why the heck did they not jsimply make it a button on the wheel?! Then there was a comment about the alteration of the suspension being "fully mechanical". So that would mean that there's rules prohibiting this being done "by button". Genial interpretation of the bylaws in that case. What was brilliant for me was Seb's very politically worded response. And I won't go into depth about that, because every would have read it most likely. Veeeery clever on his behalf as well. Will be watching with interest. Because in all honesty, if Merc stole the march on this... the (front) tyre war is already won. Like it or not.
  5. Ag nee, Mats... All the best for Monday. In a similar position. Have a calf muscle and knee issue that is aggravated every time I try to run. Have only run once in the last couple of weeks, but can at least ride light gears. That said, I do the MTB bit of a tri tomorrow and hope to start some light trodding around the block again next week. Seriously doubted my Oceans participation, but then got a healthy earful from a friend.
  6. SK - sorry, I was not clear... I was talking about aero in my post, not this steering thing. Since I haven't watched it, I don't have opinion on it yet. And yes, we're saying the same. Aero causes a ride height alteration due to it working, not a manually manipulated ride height change.
  7. That's because it does not "adjust" it, it alters ride-height by the way it works. And it's the same for all. Not manual adjustment. My view... Still must look at this steering wheel thing over the weekend, did not have time when I saw it this morning - thanks Eskom...
  8. I was about to suggest they ping you for some inside info on what the state of the expo is, at least, from the pov of an exhibitor...
  9. Superficially very similar yes. Front wing vanes differ, huge difference in sidepod air intake. Overhead air intake also smaller on RP for some reason, maybe rules required it due to those round thingies - because you'd obviously want to maximize that. Can't even see the rear of the car or the barge board sections.
  10. On a wayyy different topic. I haven't been to school athletics (or any other form thereof) since I was at school. Which is... not quite last year. So those from the area will know the 4M Athletics meeting - for those outside the Windelands, 4 all-girls schools from Paarl and Stellies (Paarl Girls, La Rochelle, Rhenish and Bloemhof) have annual 4M (or 4G, sorry) swimming and athletics meetings. What absolute awesome athletics and spirit! Wow, it was an amazing experience!
  11. Sorry, wrong thread...
  12. From the little I know, this was the issue. Not nutrition. Muscles reacting to being hammered differently in a race than in training. I was guilty of this when I did more cycling, found the reason, altered training, viola, no more cramps.
  13. Personal opinion, but I love mu Peregrines. Used them since the 5, skipped a couple of numbers. Really suits my foot well, so not even contemplating anything else. The fact that I prefer Saucony as road shoes also helps. 4mm drop (or less) works for me. Running in stuff with higher drop for those shoe eating routine runs - and now starting to get some niggles.
  14. And if you don't want to go up by foot, you can also drive up to the entrance of the reserve, just past the hairpin going up from Franschoek side.
  15. Ja, that's what I meant - it was paramaterised (once they started increasing head sizes), not banned.
  16. I commented on a friend's FB page as well, when he shared the article, that it's ludicrous. Added the comment that nobody plays tennis and squash with wooden rackets any more.
  17. Oh bugger man, good luck with that! I have a friend who is an awesome runner and she's got peroneal problems every now and then. Be patient and heal up well!
  18. Hero Night series has an event at Rhebokskloof on the 4th... You're missing first RtV - it is on the 18th.
  19. Jaaaa... I'd like to think so as well. But if you look at how popular and well subscribed something like the Cape Mile was, how did that not attract a new sponsor. Not even wanting to mention XTerra. And both of those failed to get new sponsors and folded, yet have much less logistics than Oceans.
  20. Best bet is to check Dirtopia site and RuntheVines, though I think it's a bit early for RtV to do something. Also check EntryNinja. But that's a very quiet time of year ito races. I think even Bay 2 Bay is later this year.
  21. Oh well, will have to keep running in addition to my TB training... Saw that I got in for Oceans. (Not that I would have stopped!) Looking forward to a lekker hot Dec in the mountain!
  22. Candz, do a factory reset to get rid of all the potential junk on the watch and then load the latest firmware. And even without clutter, it sometimes happens (rarely, but it does) where the battery just drains on one day. Buddy of mine had his fully charge F5 discharge in couple of hours last week. He rebooted it, charged it up again - and now it's fine.
  23. Thanks for the feedback. And ja, my comments was quite similar just yesterday to some made here after an attack in Paarl. If it's meant to be and you're not riding the mountain, a soccer mom texting will likely hit you. But always better to know what the alternate options are... For that reason I'm avoiding the R44 like the plaque - we ride it (by car) every day and the things we see there makes me not want to be on that stretch of road with a bike during commute times. Ironically my biggest concern is my afternoon ride in the daylight - cars and more pedestrians. When I come in, most will be asleep.
  24. Another slight deviation from the main thread. Are there any safe options coming into Stellenbosch nowadays? I was contemplating getting some commutes in over Dec, but both roads I'd most likely use makes me contemplate the wisdom of attempting it. Coming from Paarl, the entry points would be either Helz or R44, with long way round Kayamandi entrance being a "Are you nuts?"-zone for many a year. This will be with MTB, so viable offroad options are doable.
  25. To further baffle me - they now had the one vest I was looking at in stock in a size that should fit me. Not the colour I'd prefer, but apparently they do not come in pink.
