  1. Oh man, I am sooo happy! I was out for a short and low and slow run in the mountain just earlier. Knee was a bit of a beach on ascends and felt wobbly on the descends. And now it has a feeling quite like somebody (forcefully, as one does!) inserted a nail behind my knee cap. But it was soooo good to be out there! Will be on flats/treadmill till the weekend and then try a similar run. I suspect it was only the knee getting the shock of his life by seeing some uphill for the first time in two months! Even my socks smiled!
  2. First want to get my knee proper again, then I may add a running program. But also started with that GF cycling plan a couple of weeks ago. Those "long ride" sessions... Man, they look so innocent on paper. But the accumulation is the mother of all evils on those.
  3. Fortunately taste differs! That's a bit rough (smartie-box) on my eyes.
  4. I love my Salomon vests, except for the zips that myself and a number of buddies found to get stuck if you don't use them often enough. Those I use regularly still works. Those I hardly ever use, now will not open. But, that is after several years of abuse. And yes, when I stumbled over a special, I bought a smaller spec Salmon vest again. Some of my running mates went UD, they are happy and quite a few went Anoji (sp?) and they are also happy. And yeah, that detachable pocket does sound quite interesting! All the best with the decision!
  5. Which may or may not happen...
  6. Sounds awesome. I had to replace my HR strap and got a Ticker-X 2, which also transmits running dynamics. For the first time I can now run on Zwift as well. But like you said, it's not family friendly.
  7. First 10k since my mid-Nov MTB crash yesterday afternoon. It was on a treadmill to ease the pressure - but it's done! I am happy. And feeling fine today. Jaaa, maybe I was excessively cautious with the knee. But no need to push and re-injure, esp having had Attakwas looming - which is now no longer the case.
  8. Got it working just fine. Only way I'll get onto a dreadmill... but at least, now the training program is forcing me to run slower than I would have outside. Which is always a good thing!
  9. Thanks - I used that workaround! Will see if it works without that next time... Mine paired but did not send the cadence. Had to get it going in wahoo, did calibration, started workout, killed wahoo, started zwift... and it sent the cadence when I did the Zwift calibration! After all the calibrating my knee was already feeling a bit grumpy, so just did a short run. Now for ToNY 10h! Needless to say, it will be a hard cruise, not a race for me.
  10. Also had shingles a good couple of years ago, stomach and one arm. It was not fun... And I do recall recovering to full fitness took some time. So good luck man! Keep an eye on that HR - it may be that you're still not ready to run as hard. Quick question for those with one. I was in need of new HR strap, then saw the Wahoo Ticker X, which has running dynamics. And in my current state, I still cannot run outdoors, but was hoping to get some dreadmill miles in. Any idea how this things connects to Zwift? Since I get it to pair, it displays HR, but does not show the cadence if I run. So my avatar does not move - I cannot even calibrate.
  11. Lexx, man... I don't know what to say. But ja, you are taking the positive and sensible approach - well done on that! Running, cycling, whatever... it's just a hobby. It does not define us. I had to stop playing squash due to injury and.. ja, at the time I thought my world as I knew it ended. 3 months later my wife told me that I MUST now start doing something! And a friend introduced me to cycling... (At the time I thought he was mad.) Your health is what counts. Being with your family is what counts. They are the ones who will make you smile and support you.
  12. Entered, first one... And now wondering what the heck got into me to think this is a good idea.
  13. Having had a less than elegant dismount from the (RL) MTB, I am now starting to gently re-introduce my knee to the art of bending. Thankful for this controlled environment where I can rehab in peace without any external factors or having to ride twiddling my thumbs up and down a flat piece of road.
  14. I can summarise it very easily, but this is a family show. Fortunately no serious damage like full rupture, but cruciate ligaments are not my happy friend at this moment. They got a bit of a knock or a twist or something. Swelling is down significantly. With that, interestingly, the pain went up. Maybe because I started to move around my leg a bit. Still semi-pirate... Definitely not running tomorrow. Not happy. Plans was to run with a buddy. I may be able to drive myself to the treatment this afternoon with the new-found semi flexibility. Hoping to get to do low-resistance indoor ride or two done over the weekend. And it is a BEAUT outdoors... sunny and windless.
  15. Ja, my friend wrecked her ITB and still ran a great Otter (for us mere mortals). She loved it! Edit: She went in semi unfriendly ITB and wrecked it on Otter - had to "drag her leg around" for the last hour.
  16. Ja, very different event this year. But should be fun! At this stage I still can't bend my leg, walking around like a pirate. So smart money is on Nov 2020 having been soooo 2020-ish... it seems I've moved past the denial phase.
  17. Just the 25 for me - it was like getting an unexpected bonus to actually get something to run and it was not really a focus. After initial treatment yesterday, it is hurting a lot more today, but suspect that's just in reaction. Swelling is a biiit better. Will make a call after tomorrow's treatment, but not overly optimistic.
  18. Jaaslaaik, of all stupid things to do, I had a slowish MTB tumble yesterday. Knee swollen to upper leg size - cannot even see my knee cap. Fortunately not thaaat much pain, so hopefully no major issues. Have a 16h appointment to get it treated. But I strongly suspect I've fallen myself out of this weekend's UTCT.
  19. They should sue him back for using their watch name as a surname...
  20. There are things far more important than stats. This is supposed to be entertaining. That's why Gilles is such an icon. My age people will always go back to Senna and Lauda. If you think of the variety of cars Lauda won in, it's unreal... Oh they only won x WC in competitive eras, they must actually suck. <-- sarcasm...

Okay, two things from my side. ICM, I think MM93 will come back and simply slip and slide that Honda onto the top step. I'm sorry, but that guy is just that good. Like him or not. I will eat humble pie. I did not think Mir could do it. He's been constantly crashing Suzuki into bankruptcy before this season. And this season did not start well. His reaction when he lost (a well deserved!) win when Vinalez crashed... I thought that was childish to get angry at that stage. And then it all started to click. Bloody brilliant! He kept his cool out of the blue and the rest (esp Fabio) tossed it away. Now a dumb question. How the heck is the non factory teams outperforming their factory buddies all year? Miller kicked both factory Ducks' butt time and again. And yeah, he had some bad luck along the way. Franky on the only '19 Yamaha is stellar in the last couple of outings... And then we're back to Honda, where the factory boys cannot come close to Nakagami... until he falls off, something he may have learnt from sir Crash-a-lot. But it's been an extremely interesting season.
  22. Can be a LOT of things. Very likely you're just having too much fun and forgetting the nutrition! Then again, I nearly passed out on Table Mountain one day because of vertigo feeling - think it was Oceans trail. Everything was moving and had a halo around edges, so coming down was... interesting. No, it was not something I smoked. I initially thought I was just tired on the day and/or mis-managed snacks. Then it started happening in normal life as well. Turns out it was long-term medication I was using at the time - over time my body just at that stage started reacting that way to it. So despite me making a joke. It can be nothing, it can be something serious. I do not think anybody here is qualified to give you a proper answer.
  23. That was again okay for me. 3 looked sooo nice on paper. FTP 2 min, 30 sec break, x4... x4. But it accumulates! Not that I was fresh going into it...
  24. ZA Road, done! Think it was quite good. But felt more like testing than training at some points. Where previous ZA's (I do the programs from menu) seemed a lot more training... and I felt like some of the previous ones had harder workouts. This last one (WO 8) is actually quite a nice one!
  25. During certain intervals, Zwift seconds are veeeery long...
