I've got a saddle sore from this past weekends training ride.Went to the doctor on Tuesday(the pain was unbearable from the big hard lump that formed where the leg meets the crotch) and he said it could be a burst vain or a ingrown hair and gave me antibiotics and said if it's not better by tomorrow(Friday),that he will make a cut on it and see whats inside.Today is the first day that the swelling started too go down and it looks as if the antibiotics will do the trick. But will hear tomorrow whats the final verdict.

I've trained hard for 6 months and is in the form of my life all for the Argus next weekend and was wondering what difference it would make too my fitness if I stayed of the bike(two weeks) until next Sunday because after Sunday I didn't do any training.

And will it make a difference if I just ride without sitting down for 10km too keep the legs loose?

Thanks!

I am sure two weeks will not be the worst thing , sounds like you will be able to ride on Saturday, sunday again.

How many hours have you done this past weekend?

Sounds like a few guys in Bloem is in good form, I guess the fact that there is no races helps us train better.

You are not supposed to shave that high man! Read the shaving thread for details. Rest and relax. If Robbie can stand for a TDF stage, so can you. I hope it gets better soon.

#1 - it saddle sore - but i would feel a bit sour about it too.

Your fitness won't be radically affected IMO but tapering would be good too. Maybe spend a bit of time checking what caused the problem in the first place. I replaced my saddle and it has made the world of a difference.

Time off the bike might do you good if you have been training full out for the past 6 month. It will give your body time to recover and build up stores for the race.

Well, that's my 2c worth.

p.s. What group you leaving in?

Clearisil 4 hour pimple cream also helps to reduce / dry them up.

If you need to ride try and use some of those padded plasters with a hole in the middle that you get for corns on your toes.

Plus one! A change of saddle also helps.

Thanks for all the tips, but the problem I have at the moment is if it's advisable to train and the only way I'm going to be able to train at the moment is if I don't sit and peddle(ride for a couple of k's standing) or maybe go for a couple of easy jogs just too keep the legs loose?

Or must I just forget about training and hope that the ass holds during the argus!
