Well the 2.4s certainly has a lot more resistance due to the bigger contact patch, but it really is marginal.

2.4s can lean into corners forever...I have mountain king 2.4 front on 26 inch SS, and it's great on the singletrack.

I may be running them a little hard because i have tubes in and do not fancy a snakebite because of low pressure.

My main reason for the alu fork is the price. Rapide Pitchfork is R999 from Kiwi, and the Carbon alternatives are a lot more.

Have not really looked into the Reynolds options, but I must say the niner Licorice does look smoking hot...

Hi RocknRolla,

Just saw your post, the PitchFork you are thinking of - the PitchFork Elite29 has carbon fibre blades, just the steerer is alloy.

Here are a few pics of my work in progress. My concept is the first post of this thread, and may change and evolve, but check out these pics.

I stripped the frame and forks with Durastrip paint stripper and a scraper, then removed the leftovers with a wire-brush drill attachment, sanded with 600-grit waterpaper. I primed with Rustoleum bare-metal primer and top-coated with white gloss enamel, also Rustoleum.

I sanded the cranks down, primed and painted them - now I am looking for a blue 130mm BCD SS chainring.

Your cranks are just bloody awesome

Here's my latest single speed bike build:

Awesome bike that's a real eye catcher for your daily commute or moonlight mass rides.

It is a 56cm lugged steel frame and fork with flat bars and a single front brake.

Mavic double wall alloy rims.

Very light (10.35kg), fast and absolutely fun bike to ride.

Selling for R3500.

Check out some of my other work on facebook - Adriano Silver

Hi do you perhaps still have this bike for sale? Thanks Gerhard

Hi RocknRolla,

That's correct. The price might go up a bit if the Rand stays where it is, but not too mutch.

Thanx Kiwi, lemme know as soon as you have them in stock. i will definately take one off your hands.

Is this with a straight or tapered steerer?

Hi Divernick,

The alloy steerer is straight. We also have a full carbon tapered steerer model.
