hayleyearth Posted January 16, 2014 Share What have you ridden that's better? I must say Zee is pretty damn good value for $ I can not say what is better, but all I can say is I feel they cant be THE best. I have had more problems with my Hopes (locking up, etc) than with my cheap Shimano B-something brakes I rode with for 2 years. I have Avid's 3 on my DH bike and putting SLX on my SS so still need to feel those. So far I have had no issues with my Avids, bbut I guess next weekend (Contermanskloof) will be a good test. Skott5 Posted January 16, 2014 Share I've had issues with Hope Mini Mono's before - gave them away in fact. But I would fit Hope brakes again. I've been a formula convert for a while now, and they pretty awesome brakes, but expensive. All things being equal I reckon the best value / performance brakes are Shimano SLX.Son has them on his bike and I've had zero issues, and they are powerful stoppers. Jewbacca Posted January 21, 2014 Share probike v-brakes. never had problems. the only thing better are the magura hydraulic rim brakes. Pulling front-wheel wheelies all the time with those. And sooo easy to maintain, never had to take them into a bike shop, EVER. braailegend

NINER_boy Posted January 21, 2014 Share Voted Hope I ride ONLY Formula's, but not as a voting option. If you LIKE bleeding brakes, get yourself Avid's of some sort, you will bleed them every weekend. Happy Hubbin

kosmonooit Posted January 21, 2014 Share I've had issues with Hope Mini Mono's before - gave them away in fact. But I would fit Hope brakes again. Mono Minis were some of their first I think, I fitted some on the 'dale hardtail around 2002, still use them everyday, There are limitations to that design, but they have moved on since then. Otherwise I have 2 sets of X4,s and a set of X2's - no problems, never let me down,
